Trailer of lots of people with angst and not Phil Collins here. There's another trailer on the Homeland FB page but I can't find a non-FB page to link to. 15th January in US so I reckon 22nd for us - it's usually a week later.

So - Salieri/Dar Adul features prominently and Carrie has some issues with him. Someone's having a torch shone on their pupils - does that mean Quinn's alive but non-responsive? Baby Brodie is now school-aged. Could I be more excited?

Why did Saul go and tell Dar the whole meeting Javadi thing? I don't understand enough to know why, but I sense that was a stupid move.

So is the CIA or FBI spying on Carrie and is it them that planted the bomb in the van to make out is was Saro(?) that did it to confirm to everyone he was a terrorist? ? Also what was going on with the woman watching the TV and knitting, like something out of a horror film!

Saul doesn't make stupid moves, ever. Oh hang on, what about last season and the woman from Lord of the Rings. Apart from that though, he doesn't make stupid moves. So I sense a double-bluff coming up - or perhaps he's testing Dar - too see if the info gets back to someone? Not sure how though.

Yes I'm baffled by Creepy Knitting Woman too - it's proof that PE was being denied a television for no good reason (there was one in the house) - and the fact Creepy Knitting Woman was watching Alternative Truth/Far Right Man with the dodgy accent adds to the while coup thing.

PE kept asking for telly, but no, and knitting woman had it all along.
Bad.

I think the knitting woman was to show that there had been tv available all the time, and the CIA had been deliberately preventing the PE seeing anything.

So did someone from the CIA leak the tape, enabling Carrie to force the FBI to release Seku, so that CIA could then frame him? In order to discredit the PE's approach and to discredit Carrie?

Very poor child care choices made by Carrie today.

FBI (or whoever it is) are a bit slack if they've been watching Carrie from opposite her house, and set off to plant the bomb from opposite her house as well.. I suppose it had to be that way for the plot.

Ah, cross posted about Knitting Lady/tricoteuse. Yes, I hadn't realised there was significance to the fact that tricoteuse was watching the far right channel. I thought it was just so that PE could see how she was being presented as having run away.
Where is actual P? Isn't he rather more important at the moment than PE?

So is the bomb an excuse to get PE away? Sounds like the CIA don't want her to be president as she doesn't like the CIA and is against wars and involvement in other countries conflicts due to her son being killed in action.

Yes Cuitadella I think that's what happened, and that it's all down to Dar.

I dunno how anyone can trust him: he's a wrong'un. I love Saul though, but I don't know why, and I never really know quite what he's doing!

Oh good shout!! I couldn't work that out. I thought it was someone on carries side but your theory makes complete sense.

I'm afraid I don't think Otto is what he seems either. Perhaps I am wrong, but didn't he behave with less than 100% integrity last season? Can't remember what, but it might have been to do with nabbing Carrie for himself I think.
Have a feeling Otto and Dar would get on - or maybe they are already doing so....

At last we have had the explanation of why the cigarette packet was Saul's lightbulb moment - something I was still puzzling over!

Feel very sorry for Quinn - Carrie is well meaning but she has made things so much worse for him. On the other hand it's his photos that may rescue the PE and restore democracy! (unless it's all hushed up of course and PE is strong armed into resigning for 'health reasons' or the like. Who is the Deputy PE I wonder?)

I reckon that... Otto sent Carrie the flowers with the recording. He's a sleaze, he'd wager that flowers would get her attention. That would also mean that he's double crossing the PE - buttering her up, but really resting on the side of the current regime.

I don't have any evidence for this.

I was wondering about the cigarette packet as well, I'm still a bit confused, in fact I'm confused about a lot of it if someone could explain in simple terms! !!
One I noticed the door being closed too, is she going to be locked in the room? Seems like her Chief of staff must have been in on it too.
Was that Otto being interviewed on TV, what is his connection to the PE, is it a romantic one?

I think Saul was saying that a cigarette packet of the same brand was already in the room - suggesting the Iranian picked up had already been there and been briefed before they brought him into Saul.

I think Dar's behind it all! What with his black ops background and all.
