Thread one here

So, Sophie Giroux returned pretending to be Alice Webster. DNA results on the body in the shed confirm she is related to Sam.

Baptiste has found out about Henry Reed and the Brigadier being involved with a 9 year old girl in Iraq in 1991. Henry Reed was paying this girls brother.

There are 3 girls in the rollercoaster photo, Sophie, Alice and possibly the girl from Iraq? She has that colouring.

Henry Reed apparently committed suicide although Julien told Daniel he didn't. Whatever Daniel found out about him made him sick.

Nadia has been badly beaten and her husband is still in prison after being identified by Sophie/Alice. Matthew was made to promise to say sorry to the butcher.

Sophie is now in Switzerland. As is the newly spray painted yellow campervan that abducted Alice. Gemma and Baptiste doubt the DNA results as they are still looking for answers 2 years after she returned.

Birds keep being mentioned. Sophie and Alice both had the Web tattoo on their wrists.

Yes Chrissy, she seemed to understand the waiter's French, but (for whatever reason) she answered him in English.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 03/11/2016 20:02

Lots of people speak French in Europe, so I don't think it matters, I am convinced she's Sophie though.

This is another little thing, I would have expected a place called Vaaren to be in the German speaking part of Switzerland.

LarkDescending · 03/11/2016 20:06

There is a Varen in Switzerland, but presumably it isn't supposed to be there.

I think there is also an Eckhausen in Germany, but the Eckhausen in this series can't be based on it as it is nowhere near Hannover (where both Alice and Sam have been taken to hospital).

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 03/11/2016 20:09

It would definitely be German speaking.

Missanneshirley · 03/11/2016 20:19

With the goodies v baddies thoughts...young german policeman? Good or bad?

MargotLovedTom · 03/11/2016 20:20

Good I hope because I rather fancy him Wink.

TheSpottedZebra · 03/11/2016 20:20

Scottish Army Bloke is Derek Riddell and he was in the excellent The Book Group (with the Hound from GOT) , and No Angels, which I loved, bitd.

TheSpottedZebra · 03/11/2016 20:20

I vote policeman is bad.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 03/11/2016 20:23

German policeman is good.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 03/11/2016 20:27

I think good. I am just so hooked on this!!! I think I might love it even more than the original, but then I'm a massive fan of Keeley Hawes. I LOVE her!! I could watch her all day long.

MargotLovedTom · 03/11/2016 20:28

Ewan the dream sheep it was I who mentioned the Scottish army press officer. The actor is called Derek Riddell; he's been in loads of things. I definitely think he's going to have something to do with the dénouement.

MargotLovedTom · 03/11/2016 20:29

Cross post with the SpottedZebra! I loved him in No Angels.

OreoHeaven · 03/11/2016 20:32

All this flipping backwards and forwards Year wise is totally confusing me!

I don't know where I am or what year it is.

I am a huge fan of the Danish guy who is escorting Baptiste out in Iraq. I'm also not finding the brain tumour side of his story believable.

Optimist1 · 03/11/2016 20:47

Talking of niggles, my eyebrows were raised when Baptiste was talking to the German policeman about where Alice/Sophie could have spent her missing three hours, looking at the map, and he said something about average walking pace being 3.8 miles an hour - surely as Europeans he would have expressed it in kph???

LarkDescending · 03/11/2016 21:01

Oooh! Who just saw the trailer for Ep 5 on BBC1? Did Baptiste say to the young German policeman "I know you killed that girl"?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 03/11/2016 21:03

DH is watching bloody Star Wars, so no trailer for me.

OutwardBound2016 · 03/11/2016 21:04

I agreee with collie, I think Sam and Eve are siblings. I am also of the belief (still) that the Brig is dodgy but involved in a pre kidnap rape/paedophile scenario and not connected to the disappearance. I don't know if this is just because of what happened in series 1....

BakeOffBiscuits · 03/11/2016 21:08

It was a bit odd that they they matched the fathers DNA, when he was lying in hospital with severe burns.Confused

There's something not right at all about the DNA test.

MillieMoodle · 03/11/2016 21:10

I caught the trail end of the trailer Lark and Baptiste said "I know you killed that girl" then the next shot was of the young policeman but I couldn't tell if it was the same scene iyswim? I assumed not!

LarkDescending · 03/11/2016 21:11

I pondered earlier whether the Army would have had a sample of Sam's DNA "on file" for ID purposes - if so they might have used that rather than troubling the parents at such a difficult time.

OreoHeaven · 03/11/2016 21:11

Is Sam the father? I thought Sam was Midget? The son.

LarkDescending · 03/11/2016 21:13

Millie I am kicking myself for paying more attention to my glass of wine than the crucial trailer! Wine

LarkDescending · 03/11/2016 21:13

Sam is the father. "Midget" is Matthew.

MillieMoodle · 03/11/2016 21:16

Lark, I was rushing around trying to get a few jobs done while DS2 is asleep, so not really paying attention to the TV and only realised it was the trailer when I heard Baptiste's voice! So I missed everything before that!

GingerIvy · 03/11/2016 21:18

Is Sam the father of that woman's (police) baby that she miscarried too? It sounds like Sam gets around and his DNA is everywhere. Hmm

Also, if Alice had a baby, and Sam was the grandfather, would that baby also carry his DNA?

Is there anyone in the show that does not link to Sam's DNA?
