Thread one here

So, Sophie Giroux returned pretending to be Alice Webster. DNA results on the body in the shed confirm she is related to Sam.

Baptiste has found out about Henry Reed and the Brigadier being involved with a 9 year old girl in Iraq in 1991. Henry Reed was paying this girls brother.

There are 3 girls in the rollercoaster photo, Sophie, Alice and possibly the girl from Iraq? She has that colouring.

Henry Reed apparently committed suicide although Julien told Daniel he didn't. Whatever Daniel found out about him made him sick.

Nadia has been badly beaten and her husband is still in prison after being identified by Sophie/Alice. Matthew was made to promise to say sorry to the butcher.

Sophie is now in Switzerland. As is the newly spray painted yellow campervan that abducted Alice. Gemma and Baptiste doubt the DNA results as they are still looking for answers 2 years after she returned.

Birds keep being mentioned. Sophie and Alice both had the Web tattoo on their wrists.

Feel like I need to watch it all again to see what I've missed. I had forgotten about Sophie's mum.

mikado1 · 10/11/2016 21:24

Just caught up on programme and thread. Two things-brig doesn't even acknowledge Sam at hosp after birth, tho he knows he has just lost his just returned daughter and been injured himself-odd surely?

And... total red herring but.. Ilsa (right name?) said 'I haven't been called that in 11 years..' rd male name-isn't that how long ago they were taken?! Tangent probably but said I'd mention!

EnidButton · 10/11/2016 21:25

I'm a huge David Mozza fan but the Harrington jacket must go. Over fifty, it's a blouson my friend.

Grin

I'm giving up on trying to work it out. Love it though.

LarkDescending · 10/11/2016 21:30

MissAnne we know from the relevant newspaper clipping that Sophie disappeared in the Paris area, aged 11, on her way home from school.

We don't know exactly when, but it was about 2002-2003 (i.e. "11 or 12 years ago") accordingly to Eve's phone call to Baptiste in Dec 2014, Episode 1.

LarkDescending · 10/11/2016 21:31

*according to

Lovelybangers · 10/11/2016 21:34

The drilling scene was grim!

I have no idea what is going on and who is hiding what.

MiddleClassProblem · 10/11/2016 21:44

I like the idea that the third Iraq person is Aldi, whoever said that. I know we're meant to assume Scot but maybe too obvious. Although we called the surrogacy in the first ep so maybe this one is harder to write and thus easier to predict after series one (although I didn't watch it so can't say)

diddl · 10/11/2016 21:51

I'm also wondering how important the Iraq stuff is.

I had wondered if the girl was injured & money was being sent to pay medical care.

Did Daniel Reed say that he was glad that his father was dead as he was/had done something disgusting?

Did that specifically refer to Iraq?

If not, I wonder if he meant Ilse, & if she is the reason that Henry was killed?

Well, we were right about Eve being a surrogate!

LarkDescending · 10/11/2016 21:51

Aldi was "a mess" in Iraq, according to the Brig (said sotto voce to Eve as they left the butcher's shop in 2014).

She had also deliberately disrespected him by calling him Colonel (I think?) rather than Brigadier, during that visit.

I got the impression that she was thought to have let the side down (perhaps refusing to turn a blind eye to goings-on) rather than being complicit.

The80sweregreat · 10/11/2016 21:57

The poor girl with the driller killer! I hope she is saved ( and her mum) who is she?
When Gemma pegged the washing, i was waiting for her to put a pole on it to lift it up. ( it wont dry like that)
Good episode though. 3 to go, still no idea of where its all heading.

SW1A1AA · 10/11/2016 21:58

Not sure if this has already been said but when SophieAlice is in the ambulance right at the beginning after stumbling into the town the paramedic asks her her name and she says "Sophie... Jo..." She is delirious but definitely says that is her name.

ktel1 · 10/11/2016 21:58

This might have been mentioned already.

I was thinking that perhaps the 3 girls were taken as retribution for whatever happened to the young girl in Iraq.

Perhaps the 3 people involved were the fathers of the daughters abducted.

This would mean that Sam might have been involved , has it been mentioned what Sophie's father did ? - maybe he was in the military.

We don't know anything about Lena's father yet.

SW1A1AA · 10/11/2016 22:01

Oh no sorry they ask her who they can call and she says "Sophie... Jo...".

I'd make a crap detective.

LarkDescending · 10/11/2016 22:09

SW1A

"What is your name, miss? Is there someone we can call for you"

"Sophie...Giroux"

diddl · 10/11/2016 22:10

"When Gemma pegged the washing, i was waiting for her to put a pole on it to lift it up. ( it wont dry like that)"

There's a scene later when she has her back to the window & you can see into the garden & see the pole!

(Was bugging me too!)

EnidButton · 10/11/2016 22:15

I much prefer this one to the first series.

EnidButton · 10/11/2016 22:19

Perhaps the 3 people involved were the fathers of the daughters abducted.

Ooh. I like this theory. Sophie's father said, when Baptiste spoke to him in the DIY store, "you know what I was" (not exact words). Meaning he was something high up and felt his current work, which was all he could get after his arrest, was beneath him. But he never said what he did which must be relevant because why not say, 'you know Ivwas a managing director (or whatever) and now look.' So he could've been Army.

EnidButton · 10/11/2016 22:19

Although I also liked the theory that Aldi woman was the third person.

I like all the theories. Grin

AnnieNoMouse · 10/11/2016 22:30

Another thought - quite a few missing mothers in this series:-
Eve's mother
Daniel's mother
Sophie's mother (suicide)
Well, three, anyway

AnnieNoMouse · 10/11/2016 22:32

Perhaps the 3 people involved were the fathers of the daughters abducted.
I like that too except didn't Brig admit he and Henry were two of the three (which backed up what the Iraqi man said last week)

MiddleClassProblem · 10/11/2016 22:41

Love the concern for the washing 😂

OutwardBound2016 · 10/11/2016 22:42

I'm still of the opinion that Brig has been involved in historic abuse but is not connected to the abductions. Do we know where Aldi is in the present day? Could she be looking after the dog?

ktel1 · 10/11/2016 22:53

Maybe Matthew got into trouble with his skin head friends and Sam stepped in to help him. Matthew could resent him for that if his friends were arrested .

LineyReborn · 10/11/2016 23:02

Seriously I was fixated on that bloody washing. How were they getting such crisp folds like that? Would she have a pulley or a pole?

MoonfaceAndSilky · 10/11/2016 23:04

There's a scene later when she has her back to the window & you can see into the garden & see the pole!

Oh thank goodness for that - it bugged me too as well as how long it took to hang those clothes up
