I think that what saves Ed is that his timing is generally excellent. He's not good at the finer points of the technique (or even the less finer points!) but what he does tends to be spot on time and done with full enthusiasm.

bad week to do the charleston when your brother has gone before you with a really good one

I was thinking "who the hell is Ore's brother??" :o

digerd · 30/10/2016 12:37

For an absolute non-dancer Ed impressed me with his arm movements and hand/fingers position when held up in the air. Shame Craig didn't mention that. Ed certainly is the "most improved celeb" even if he still cannot dance.

Loved Geg's expressive Rumba even if it did not contain much actual Rumba steps and movements. He' s the "most performance improved".

Laura's Tango I found quite charming with lovely leg and body lines but could't see her feet- a softer expression to her Tango than usual but liked it..
Claudia's dress did her no favours.

Didn't find Louise's Charleston one of the best and rather boring choreography.

Think Ana wll go home tonight.

MrsJayy · 30/10/2016 12:42

Usually forward Ed but i loved it lots of fun and cha cha cheeks 😁

Bountybarsyuk · 30/10/2016 12:57

Just watched on catch-up.

Ed was genuinely entertaining, I cried with laughter. Really need that entertainment factor as...

Lots of the dances were a bit boring, there was so much going on with the lights, odd music timing, it was hard to see the actual dancing. Some of them just didn't hold my attention.

I liked Daisy and Ed best this week, Claudia also did well.

MrsJayy · 30/10/2016 13:33

I really think Claudia and Aj are adorable her outfits are always lovely and they are cute without being sickly

TheDrsDocMartens · 30/10/2016 13:37

I wondered if Craig's comments to Greg were to up his voters? Len & Bruno both appear to favour certain dancers and I wondered if Craig skewed it the other way deliberately as it wouldn't affect the table much ?

ppeatfruit · 30/10/2016 13:49

I really didn't recognise Joanne in that terrible costume (in both senses of the word) Halloween Grin It shows that she has no ego, and Ore too. !!!! her teeth all blacked out , to show what a sweet shop will do I suppose Halloween Grin

CaveMum · 30/10/2016 14:01

According to the Fail Karen Hardy is in the running to take over from Len. Apparently she's judging on the Strictly Tour this year so a lot of people are assuming it's basically one big audition for her.

MoonriseKingdom · 30/10/2016 14:11

Ooh good news cavemum. She'd be my choice.

Chipstick10 · 30/10/2016 14:52

She would be my choice also. Please not Anton. I would have to call it a day

TheDrsDocMartens · 30/10/2016 16:02

Karen would be good . Or Brendan.
Don't want Anton.

AlchemySchmidtsSmile · 30/10/2016 16:19

Still love MrBeak. To be honest, I'd like Bruno, Len and Darcy to go with Anton, Brendan and Shirley Ballas taking their place.
Anton did judging on a charity SCD and was fine. Brendan's done it in NZ. Shirley does Afterbuzz for DWTS and knows what she's talking about and is fairly sassy about how these type of shows are produced/structured.
But Karen does my head in. She gurns mores than TonyBeak does.

ppeatfruit · 30/10/2016 16:36

I don't mind Anton actually, he knows his stuff (ducks flames ) Halloween Grin Darcey is a pleasant person she can be funny (is very easy on the eye, Has the best fashion sense of all of them) and she finds something constructive to say.

MrsJayy · 30/10/2016 16:46

Well I like anton and would love him to take lens chair

Millimat · 30/10/2016 16:59

I'm also thing Greg will have got votes because of the judges contents.
If people watch the live show, do they have to sign something to say they won't share who is out until after Sunday?

crje · 30/10/2016 16:59

I'd love Karen to take over.

Thought the the show was disappointingHmm
The music ruined it for me.

Brendan and Natalie let their partners down this week.

Think Ana will go.

TimTamTerrier · 30/10/2016 17:24

I've re-watched all the dances now, and I think I might need to watch Louise and Kevin's without the music as it was totally distracting me from the dancing. It just wasn't charleston music at all.

What are the chances of Danny being in the dance off? I would really love to see that foxtrot done well as it looked like it could have been really good until the mistake threw him totally off.

I really enjoyed Greg's dance, which should have given me my first clue that it wasn't a proper rumba as I hardly ever like them when the male celebs do them. I think Craig was a bit harsh with his marking though, there was a bit of rumba in it, just done a bit too fast. I bet the view vote will be through the roof as a result.

I think the judges are hugely over-marking Ed now because they are tired of him being saved by the public. So he gets a big mark, Greg gets a very unfair low mark, and a load of the public vote is diverted from Ed to Greg.

I think Claudia is doing very well, I'm not sure about the theme though. Surely it was the witch who turned the prince into a frog, and a princess who turned him back to a human? I'm not all that keen on AJ's dancing, I suspect he might be dropped next year unless they have another unusual number of short female celebs.

morningtoncrescent62 · 30/10/2016 18:16

OK, just finished watching it on iPlayer. I'm distinctly underwhelmed this week - I'd hoped the series would pick up with the 'excitement' of Hallowe'en but it doesn't seem to be happening. There were no stand-out dances for me at all, and plenty of mediocre ones. I simply don't get the love for Ed Balls. Can someone explain to me what's so funny? OK, so he's trying hard, but so have lots of poorer dancers in the past. It's not like he's got a Russell Grant-style loveable performer persona. Confused I hope he goes this week.

GrouchyKiwitch · 30/10/2016 18:19

I found out the result last night on Digital Spy so won't be watching this evening's show. (F1 is on live instead.) I plan to watch the pro dance and Laura Mvula's (I think they said it was her) song on iPlayer later so please do tell me if they're crap so I don't waste my time!

AlchemySchmidtsSmile · 30/10/2016 18:40

Thank you Tam glad not just me....yep, witch turns prince into frog then only a princess's kiss can transform him back.
And she wasn't green. I thought she might be a voodoo witch based on Dr Facilier but then came Little Mix as opposed to Friends on the other side.

JennyHolzersGhost · 30/10/2016 18:40

Agree about Louise's music. Didn't help what was a pretty ok performance. Not the most charismatic but then she has always been the girl next door type so I don't think we can blame her for that.

I started off this series thinking Anastasia was welcome to go early but on reflection looking at last night's performance I think she's not had the best of 'service' from Brendan. She did a great job in her week without him. I wonder if they get on ?

Btw I now have a spreadsheet of Strictly results. If anyone would like stats (e.g. Which type of dance has scored best so far, average judge scores, average celebrity scores etc) do just say. (Am sure there's a website out there which already does Strictly stats but I wanted to practice my Excel skills anyway ... sad or what!).

JennyHolzersGhost · 30/10/2016 18:42

... which dances each judge has scored highest ....

Fiderer · 30/10/2016 18:59

Shirley Ballas? Keep reading that as Shirley Bassey and thinking "Gollllllddfinnnnngurr" and that she's as old as (me) time.

Queenbean · 30/10/2016 19:01

Jenny - strictly and excel, a girl after my own heart!

I reckon Ana will go tonight

Inkanta · 30/10/2016 19:07

'Brendan and Natalie let their partners down this week.'

Brendan was going way too fast - why did it need to be such a fast pace. It just looked messy. The other guy she danced with last week - seemed to create a better timing and for placing her steps.

As for Natalie she didn't allow Craig any rumba steps of his own - every movement he made was a preparation for lifting her. A very moving dance though and she looked gorgeous.
