Elspeth There was a programme on telly (just repeated) in which Darcey learns ballroom and musical dances, she plays Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, the Debbie Reynolds part in "Good Morning" and others. Very well. !!

No he's definitely going over to the States for the big fat paycheck.

Apparently Craig said it was the weekly transatlantic commute that was the killer. But Len's perfectly happy to do it as long as he can stay over there for the duration. Probably put up in an apartment and everything. Niiiice.

As it's a Head Judge role I don't think they will use someone from the Strictly 'family', it will someone we don't know who is known as a judge from the current dancing world, I don't think it will be someone who just dances.

I think if it was one of the other 3 going, then they have a great group to choose from, such as Karen and Ian, or Darren who's been judging abroad, so has dance/judging/tv experience. And did anyone see Camilla on ITT, she would be good.

I like Anton but he was very interesting about how Lesley was making HIM Improve and change on ITT yesterday, it made me think maybe he's a bit limited to be a good judge

I suspect he was mainly saying that to be nice to Lesley.

Aren't Ian Waite's strengths more on the Latin side? If so he wouldn't entirely fit the bill if they're looking for a ballroom specialist to replace Len,.

My teacher reckons Karen is the best candidate for Len's job. She's not just a world class dancer, but she's been teaching and judging competitions for the last few years so really knows her stuff.

This article by Brendan is very interesting, it's about Saturday's dances and he doesn't hold back in stating who he thought did well/didn't do well.

The scoring was interesting again this week, and in all honesty sometimes I don't understand the logic in some of the marks.

There was a judge person from the Ballroom world who did some commentating on the red button with Ian Waite on a series of SCD some years ago and he seemed excellent I wonder if they could replace Len with him.

Well, it isn't just 5. We have the twins, most recently born, and a few others. We have our own 7 but also the local children come round, as they see her as a fantasy princess and they tend to 'linger' which is fine for us - but it's often tricky to count how many are actually here at any time as they move around so fast! We don't mind and the other parents don't seem to.

Yes I hope the 'new judge' isn't another 'personality' appointment. Isn't Len about 106 yo....maybe they will take some advice from him re the next 'head judge'? Karen would be great imo.

Apparently when Strictly was first being put forward Lorna Lee was interviewed as a potential Head Judge. She would have been great as she's trained many champions over the years, but as the others in the dance world will know, she is a fearsome character and would have made Craig look like a pussycat!

I did read Len's autobiography a few years ago and it was very guarded. Lots of war refs re WW2 and the struggle re austerity and wanting a career in dance which didn't sit well with each other.
I do still rember Come Dancing on the Beeb which Len was involved in.

Just caught up on ITT and the music choices. I'm getting pretty fed up of Claudia and AJ getting a teeny bopper track every week - this time it's Little Mix.

I'd have Karen as a judge, I hate that Darcey has to be the nice one.
