I've pretty much only heard Len say it in his accent so my versionseemed sensible!

SoupDragon · 25/10/2016 11:20

Wiki says Viennese German for 'small spot'

Igneococcus · 25/10/2016 11:25

"Fleckle" is what I would say if I'd speak my Lower Frankonian dialect but I would say "Fleckerl" if I's wanted to fit in anyhwere South of the Danube, like Southern Bavaria or Austria. A "Fleck" is a small spot in German, could be a small stain or also a small patch of fabric.

Clawdy · 25/10/2016 11:32

Darcey B was on breakfast tv this morning, and was asked about Arlene returning. She was a bit cagey, but said they really needed someone with specific experience for that role - can't remember what she said, may have been Latin dancing? Either way it didn't sound as if Arlene would be back.

ppeatfruit · 25/10/2016 12:22

Clawdy What else was said ? She's not leavng is she? I like her, she's kind and always looks fantastic.

Fiderer According to Private Eye (sorry I can't do links) Len is going to give up SCD for DWTS fgs Shock

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 25/10/2016 12:35

If they're specifically after someone with ballroom experience and knowledge, it sounds as if they're lining up Anton.

Clawdy · 25/10/2016 12:36

No, Darcey sounded as if she loved being a judge, and had no intention of leaving. Smile

MrsJayy · 25/10/2016 12:58

I think it will be Anton he would be a great judge I think we forget he is a proper dancer sometimes especially if he gets the duffers. I wonder if they will do a Len leaving thing?

MrsJayy · 25/10/2016 13:00

Oh Ian whatshis name he would be a great judge. I was never keen on Arlene phillips

ppeatfruit · 25/10/2016 13:06

Thanks Clawdy That's good news.

I like Anton but he was very interesting about how Lesley was making HIM Improve and change on ITT yesterday, it made me think maybe he's a bit limited to be a good judge. His and Lesley's tango was fairly crap, was it his or her fault?

2kids2dogsnosense · 25/10/2016 13:50

I thought Arlene was good

I liked Arlene. She was very good - obsessed with sex (aren't we all), but very good.

ElspethFlashman · 25/10/2016 14:02

I always found Arlene a bit shrill. Bruno + Arlene would give me a headache. God forbid if they started arguing. It'd make my ears bleed.

Karen Hardy is my choice. She's nice, funny, direct and knowledgeable. And from ITT she's learnt how to be concise.

Ian is lovely too, but he's a bit lightweight and giddy.

I think Anton would actually be a better fit than Ian. Anton would have massive audience goodwill.

MoonriseKingdom · 25/10/2016 14:13

I really liked Arlene. I lost interest for quite a while after she left. I found Alesha really irritating as a judge. Only started watching again in the last couple of years.

I also would like Karen Hardy to replace Len. I think she's great on ITT. She gives constructive criticism without being as negative as Craig can be.

I bet Len gets looked after very well when he does DWTS and I am guessing the pay cheque is bigger.

Another vote for Karen Hardy. And def Anton.

Really couldn't take to Arlene.

Just enjoy looking at Darcy.

ppeatfruit · 25/10/2016 15:41

Yes Ian Waite would make a good judge maybe a bit lightweight compared to Len? But he certainly knows his stuff.

ilovesooty · 25/10/2016 15:55

I'd much rather have Ian than Anton. I've found Anton bearable this season but I don't want him in a role where he gets to talk.

morningtoncrescent62 · 25/10/2016 15:55

I thought Arlene was great - I loved the acerbic edge to her comments, and she gave real advice to people. There were a couple of series that I didn't watch because I'd simply had enough of Alesha who simply didn't know what she was talking about, and Brucie had become to much for me.

My dream line-up would be Claudia and Steph McGovern (the business presenter on BBC Breakfast) as hosts, Anton for ITT, Karen Hardie for head judge, and Craig, Arlene and Bruno for the remaining judges. Last year I wanted Bruno to go, but either he's not such a caricature of himself this year, or I've found other things/people to be irritated by.

Of course, when and if Natalie gets too old to dance, any of the above would have to cede place to her in whichever role she wants. Grin

ppeatfruit · 25/10/2016 15:59

Yes Mornington I agree about Nat, she's great. Bit too much spray tan but then no one's perfect!

ppeatfruit · 25/10/2016 16:01

Actually I like Joanne Clifton (ducks flames) [dhlgrin]. She was very good on ITT last year as a teacher and critic. Her choreography is spot on too IMO.

MrsJayy · 25/10/2016 16:03

Yeah Natalie can do whatever she wants 😊. ALESHA was a pain in the arse so glad she went to BGt

228agreenend · 25/10/2016 16:06

I'm loving Joanne Clifton's cheography as well. The Singing in the Rain routine was superb (should have got a ten).

ElspethFlashman · 25/10/2016 16:08

Bruno definitely isn't as coked up bad this year.

I think Anton is mainly annoying when hes paired with a duffer and starts being "hilarious" to fill in the awkwardness of standing up there with Claudia waiting for the inevitable 2s and 4s. He just goes "fuck it" and loses his head and starts plunging over the metaphorical cliff.

But he's ok when he's really interested and enthusiastic. So I think judging might be a good fit - there's no stakes for him personally, his opinion would be respected, and he'd have a 30 second time limit, lol.

And at least he's a dancer who's had to perform every damn dance under the sun in his time on the show so knows what every dance is like to actually do. I like Darcy, but would prefer her if she actually had a ballroom background rather than ballet as I doubt she's ever done a Charleston in her life (for example).

However the producers are the ones who hired Aleesha. So it's quite possible that the new judge will be a "Personality" like her, and none of the above. Which would be shit.

Fiderer · 25/10/2016 16:34

Len's going to DWTS? Thought he was retiring. Must be clocking up retirement money.

The judges don't often comment on the choreography and never in any detail. It's a bit cryptic. I find also that I'm focussing more on the celeb and can't pinpoint if they messed up/did well because of the choreography.

Would appreciate comments on it on the thread

Can't pester OliviaMN again for an emoticon right now. Would rather Tech concentrates on fixing the vile colours now showing for OP and own posts.

Redcrayons · 25/10/2016 16:41

Len had been doing DWTS for years, him and Bruno commute in the week. not sure if he's retiring from that as well as strictly. I'm guessing they pay a lot more over there, so maybe he's keeping that on.

I don't mind Joanne Clifton. And KFG has calmed down this year and isn't so annoying. I'm even liking Tess. What's wrong with me?

Fiderer · 25/10/2016 16:47

Red It's the power of The Daaahhhnnce Grin

I thought Len had stopped DWTS, found it too much flying back and forth every week. May have imagined it though - see ref to The Power above.

Will not miss watching "Len's Lens" and thinking of Monkseal's "Len's Glans". At all.
