Oh yes, for someone who was partnered with Matt Baker, Harry Judd and Jay to complain about BBC bias is just plain bonkers. She did fabulously well with excellent raw material but they might have well have been gift-wrapped.

UnGoogleable · 22/10/2016 22:43

OOh just caught up.

Louise is as bland as a beige cardigan.

Greg 'Hot Ginger' Rutherford - it wasn't his finest hour, bless him, he just looked like he was concentrating reeeeeeeeeaaaally hard and not enjoying it.

Glad Laura wasn't in it. I don't like her and her abundant smugness.

Claudia and AJ - bless her, it was too fast. I've also developed an inappropriate crush on AJ - he's really rather beautiful isn't he and old enough to be my son

ED Bollocks...!!!! Oh DEAR! It was hilariously awful, classic TV!

dementedma · 22/10/2016 22:45

These "old"clips are reminding me how awful Bruce Forsyth was!

2kids2dogsnosense · 22/10/2016 22:52

Evil
Watched the link on mute as DH is engrossed in something called, I think, "football".

It is strangely spooky, soundless (the clip, not the football)

2kids2dogsnosense · 22/10/2016 22:53

demented

I still wake up screaming . . .

emotionsecho · 23/10/2016 00:43

I don't think I want to see Ore do an Argentine Tango although I'd love to see Joanne Clifton do an AT with a partner capable of giving the dance the right attitude, particularly after seeing the one she did with Giovanni at the Proms.

Danny and Oti doing an AT - yes please.

I read in that Twitter feed of Aliona's that Gleb has done a rather hot AT on DWTS am going to try and find it on YouTube!

TheDrsDocMartens · 23/10/2016 07:23

I loved Matt & Harry. Both seemed to really enjoy what they did.
Both those dances up there had decent music for the dance and no props too which is an advantage in my eyes!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 23/10/2016 07:26

ppeatfruit - no, I don't want them to be fucking each other but in some dances you want to able to believe that they might be, or, as TimTam says, that they despise each other but want to shag anyway.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 23/10/2016 07:31

Aliona with Harry was another one of my favourite pairings. Loved their quickstep. I think they were one of my favourite pairings ever because he genuinely had no training. I also loved Abbey and Alijaz: again, a beautiful quickstep, and he really turned her into a lovely dancer.

MargotLovedTom · 23/10/2016 08:16

Absolutely agree re Harry and Aliona - I preferred him to Jay (for shallow reasons Wink) and the Don't Get Me Wrong quickstep is one of my all time favourite dances. I remember feeling sorry for Matt because Alesha really seemed to have it in for him (distinctly remember her calling him creepy at one point).

Louise is irritating the hell out of me with her permanent rictus grin.

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 23/10/2016 09:19

I find Claudia a bit dull to watch, but that may be down to the choreography - there comes a time when just putting in a million steps doesn't do it. I think Craig is unduly mean to Ed: he always used to keep his 2s for people like Ann Widdecombe who just didn't bother to try, and you can't say that of Ed.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 23/10/2016 11:00

Just went down a bit of a Harry and Aliona rabbit hole on YouTube - they were such a lovely pairing.

ElspethFlashman · 23/10/2016 11:06

Ed has to be running out of goodwill though. Every week he has a brain fart and he goes to pieces. He's a very nice man but he's shite, and not improving.

Surely nobody could go this week but him?

Inkanta · 23/10/2016 12:24

I don't want Ed to go and I think he's improving.

He messed up on that lift but he was being very strong and courageous trying to get her legs round his head. Then he did the lift again just to proof he could do it!

He has no fear, and the other 3 lifts were nice.

MrsJamin · 23/10/2016 13:05

Last night was weird wasn't it? Lots of bad dances, I wonder whether the producers had a go at the dancers and asked them to make trickier choreography as the marks were getting too high too soon. I was disappointed in Greg, poor guy just couldn't do it. I want to see him stay as long as possible. Danny Mac too good, he just moves like a pro and I want to see improvements. Louise is holding back any sexiness that would help her dances be more interesting, probably because of her family. She's just so dull. I liked anastacia the best this week as it was such an improvement and she looked comfortable and enjoying it for once.
The Cliftons make me think of this episode of Extras ... Particularly the dance with the daughter and dad at the end (18.44). Wink

SoupDragon · 23/10/2016 13:25

Ed is great at the "character" dances because of his enthusiasm. No, he's not technically great but I enjoy watching him. I'm happy to continue voting for him until the others left are the ones I want in the final :)

I do not want to see him attempt a rumba though!

StrictlyPan · 23/10/2016 13:52

With her head 8 feet from the floor and tipping fwd, her short and beautiful life passed before her eyes...

strange evening, nerves all round??

and the day trip to Paris did cheese me off a bit too, though I thought Craig was a bit petulant to point it out when scoring. Daisy seemed to be underscored, esp as those long legs of hers could have struggled badly in the charleston. Fast becoming My Favourite.

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 23/10/2016 13:55

It slightly gets on my nerves when Ed keeps saying things like "We're struggling" or "We're getting better". Katya's a real saint not to say "No, Ed, YOU'RE struggling, I'm doing fine."

StrictlyPan · 23/10/2016 13:59

I think that's called Cabinet Collective Responsibility, Lady. Grin

ppeatfruit · 23/10/2016 14:00

Well LadyConstance Katya is supposed to choreographing to help him for his faults, That lift was ridiculous IMO. I got the impression that she had been at fault in it.

SoupDragon · 23/10/2016 14:03

But if Ed is struggling, then his teacher is should not doing fine, surely. It's a partnership after all.

At the moment, I think I'd still rather watch him than Anastasia, Louise and (despite my deep admiration!) Lesley. He lost one of my votes to Ore last week because I was blown away by his jive but no one had that "wow" moment for me this week. He's clearly not going to get anywhere near the final though!

Theromanempire · 23/10/2016 15:04

Can I ask a technical question to the dancers on here?

In relation to Greg - last week with the salsa, he was relaxed, loads of hip movement and looked like he was enjoying it. So why were things so different this week? I have always thought that the cha cha cha and salsa were similar in movements, energy etc.

Inkanta · 23/10/2016 15:30

Theromanempire

Yes I couldn't understand what it was about this dance that stumped Greg. Was he upset about something else I wondered?

digerd · 23/10/2016 16:52

The foot and leg work is quite different. Salsa footwork is more natural -like a mambo which is a bend and stretch leg movement.
Cha Cha is unnatural with its straighter and sharper movement.
To put it in general terms only.

I was slightly disappointed with Ore's waltz and he was a little too stiff and not enough sway. I was expecting better from him.

Hope it's not Greg who goes home tonight, I do lke him and love Natalie.

Floralnomad · 23/10/2016 17:12

I want to know who's voting for Louise , she appears to have zero personality , she does a bingo advert that sounds like she's selling funeral plans it's so dull ! I don't get the hype with Ore and think in comparison Danny is being under marked , if that's because they feel he's 'semi professional ' and should be marked against a different scale then they shouldn't invite people to participate who have his level of experience .
