For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

In fact I was on a parenting forum from 2003 if not before

MiddleClassProblem · 14/10/2016 19:05

I meant that they told her to do the tattoo pre abduction. It could be that she knew she was meeting the person and worried about being seen or first time meet? Don't remember the scene so need to watch it. Or could be that she told an online person that she bunks off and they used that info to snatch her.
For all we know she hates at computers and this person is just an army mate of dad's.
As I said before though, I "like" (is that the right word?) the idea that she or Sophie took it helped take the other.

Scarydinosaurs · 14/10/2016 19:05

Online chatting was rife back then. Loads of my friends went on dodgy meet ups with ransoms they met online, and parents were less aware of the dangers.

I think she looked apprehensive at the van- doesn't mean she wasn't expecting to meet 'someone' on that road, or that it wasn't an online predator who then targeted her when he knew where she'd be...

MiddleClassProblem · 14/10/2016 19:06

X post with scary

Scarydinosaurs · 14/10/2016 19:27

middle yes, she's been complicit in some kind of criminal activity.

And she must die soon based on the dates!

I actually thought the mum was going to walk in to find she had committed suicide.

FoxesOnSocks · 14/10/2016 19:38

Who's Stone?

FoxesOnSocks · 14/10/2016 19:46

Also I can't resist the opportunity to ask:

Who the fuck is Alice?

Grin
BeyondPolkadots · 14/10/2016 19:58

We could be thinking she is going to die soon, and the xmas decs are a trick - it's January 2014 and they haven't been taken down yet from xmas 2013...? Grin

MiddleClassProblem · 14/10/2016 20:15

Lmao but the funeral date or coffin date(can't remember) is 14/12/14. Nice theory though.

FoxesOnSocks · 14/10/2016 20:31

Stil could be January 2014 though surely. She returns (say) 6 January 2014 but dies 22 December 2014. Is there a reason her return is cemented to the date Daniel's dad dies?

diddl · 14/10/2016 20:44

Stone is the female MP who the father is having an affair with in the present day.

MiddleClassProblem · 14/10/2016 20:57

If it's not then we're looking at an extra time jump just for the funeral which seems a bit much

diddl · 14/10/2016 21:00

Didn't she collapse at a Christmas market?

I don't think that you get these before the last week of Nov.

FoxesOnSocks · 14/10/2016 21:12

Hmm, true, though I don't overtly recall a Christmas market (doesn't mean it wasn't though) I only recall a crib with a baby Jesus in it (which may suggest it's after Christmas Day).

Still it might have been feasible!!

diddl · 14/10/2016 21:26

Yes, she walks past a Nativity scene, into a small square where there are a few stalls & people standing drinking.

kimlo · 14/10/2016 21:50

I'm watching now, Im not sure I'm following it to be honest. But I'm still liking it.

Manumission · 14/10/2016 21:54

That pretty much sums up the appeal of 'The Missing' kimlo Smile

BeyondPolkadots · 14/10/2016 21:58

Good point with the baby Jesus only being there after the 24th - someone look back and check, and that could confirm my theory! Grin

To possibly confuse... the xmas market in Prague has been there every time I've visited, and the last time it was early Feb, long after the decs come down

MiddleClassProblem · 14/10/2016 22:28

Do they only put Jesus in after Christmas Day? I never knew that was a thing! (Non religious ignorance plus the decorations for home one you see have him in but maybe that's just for display/catalogue/online pics)

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2016 22:40

I don't think that many people put the figures in according to dates, do they? We never did, and I went through Catholic childhood, school etc. Although I am a staunch atheist now and don't have my own.

As well as being a big old faff, it'd be unfair to the 3 Wise Men, who only arrive on the evening of the 6th Jan (possibly), which is the day when decorations tend to be taken down in the UK. You'd be making them redundant!

MiddleClassProblem · 14/10/2016 22:44

Maybe the keep them up later in Germany? They are still in Germany, right? That's a long post, guessing an allowance for the situation?

I know in Germany Christmas Eve is a big celebration. The you have some parts of Russia and Poland etc that don't celebrate until 6th. But maybe we are over thinking this...

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2016 22:44

But I checked, and the Jesus was there. But I still reckon it's before Xmas day, and that she dies quite soon after arriving back. Or 'back'.

The Missing is back next week!
MiddleClassProblem · 14/10/2016 22:45

Or is it the 7th? My brain is dead

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2016 22:47

I think we're over thinking this (but I love that!).

I am henceforth going to be pedantically annoyed if I see a nativity WITH the 3 Wise Men, but WITHOUT a Jesus.

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2016 22:49

6th!

= Twelfth Night.
