For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

That was in ep 1 Meatloaf, it was Eve, but later she put it in her draw

meatloaf · 02/11/2016 23:07

Thanks Annie.
There's so much going on!

I am trying to think back to the first series and how there were loads of twists and red herrings but the result was that it was a simple, but sad, explanation.

FoxesOnSocks · 02/11/2016 23:10

Today 22:07 Eightiesmate

So it's still basically.....

Who the fuck is Alice?

😂

meatloaf · 02/11/2016 23:10

Another question - were there photos of butcher woman in compromising poses. Who took them? Were they with her husband?
Did her husband actually get jailed for the abduction of Alice?

TheSpottedZebra · 02/11/2016 23:10

Hmm so I missed the beginning bit today seemingly, where we saw the butchers' assistant come back into the shop to find Nadia. AND he does not have DS, so I am imagining that.

And I also missed the bit about the policeman's bird. What was that?

HarryPottersMagicWand · 02/11/2016 23:11

Can't believe the thread is nearly full and we are only halfway through the series!

As it will probably fill overnight, thread 2 is here

It will probably end up being far less complicated than we think, as series 1 was, ended up being quite straight forward in the end.

I still think Nadia is more involved.

But then in series 1 it turned out to be someone we had hardly seen. German policeman? German twins? Worker in the butcher's with down syndrome (probably not)?

Person who must be the butchers' assistant. Or maybe he's someone else?

But that's the same German policeman who is willing to allow Julien to assist with the investigation in 2014 when the MP have basically told him to keep his nose out? I think he suspects that "Alice" is Sophie. I think the girl at the end was Sophie (or the third girl?) and the body in the shed was either real Alice or Sophie/the third girl (whichever of those two isn't in Switzerland).

Did they say the DNA was from the body or the DNA was from the shed? As there were children's toys in the shed which presumably even after all these years would still have real Alice's DNA on them? Could the DNA have been contaminated? Or as others have said, the DNA was a match with Sam but we don't know about Gemma, so maybe it was a half sister of real Alice.

Also wonder if Henry Reed somehow helped Alice and/or Sophie hence the flowers? Then he was silenced by whoever wanted to shut him up. But if he died on 14 Dec and Alice/Sophie died on 22 Dec (having returned 4 days earlier on 18 Dec) how would she know Henry had died and been buried? His funeral must have been after 14th but before the 22nd so it's a pretty short time span for her to know about it. Maybe she killed him?

HarryPottersMagicWand · 02/11/2016 23:14

Butcher took those photos, you could see him in the mirror.

Yes he is in prison for abducting Alice, Matthew visited him last week.

Policeman talked about he had a parrot that he waited for it to talk everyday but it never did.

Does the man in the butchers shop not have DS? Blush I thought he did.

Just realised the link to the next thread isn't that noticeable.

Just a thought.....are we presuming the girls were actually taken originally? It was probably made clear they were, but what if they went voluntarily for some reason, say running away and it was prearranged? Maybe whoever they were with died of something and they couldn't manage alone? Like some kind of cult? They could've been groomed into it? Then SophieAlice got sick and had to find help? Haven't figured out the dna bit though - unless SophieAlice is Sam's daughter and went looking for her dad and told AliceSophie they were sisters and they prearranged to run away together? But where does Brig fit in....or 3rd girl....arghhhhhhhh!

Just ideas....it's late...I'm tired....amend VERY confused!

lastqueenofscotland · 02/11/2016 23:45

Army peado ring?

CauliflowerSqueeze · 03/11/2016 06:42

Agree with Lark - who asks a woman they know has lost a baby (through their own child pushing her) if they've ever considered having a family????

Also yes why weren't teeth analysed. Surely that would be pretty important.

Also, Sam wouldn't have given permission for a DNA test to take place - he was livid at the suggestion when she was alive - so how did this take place. And why wouldn't they test her DNA against her mother as well while they were at it? She was the one who doubted it.

FoxesOnSocks · 03/11/2016 06:48

I suppose Alice's dental records weren't up to date. The latest record the parents know is 11year old her. Though that's something, a lot of these women who have been held captive have bad teeth, naglected care, but Alice-not-Alice had decent teeth.

British dramas/films are less inclined to keep teeth looking good if they shouldn't be really in the plot

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/11/2016 08:04

Really not enjoying this and we have another 4 to go! I might just come here for updates Grin

AnnieNoMouse · 03/11/2016 20:28

I was thinking that this morning "Harry"
I also think the German police officer's story about waiting every day for the parrot to speak is also a clue - someone there who could speak but fails to do so?

Unicorn1981 · 12/11/2016 22:48

Just wanted to say here that I read a book called The Boy That Never Was which follows the storyline of the Missing so if you enjoyed this and like reading you might want to try that.
