For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

It's not a 'The Missing' thread without industrial-weight overthinking Smile

Although some orthodox /eastern churches, esp Russian-ish, use a different calendar and so it ends up being the 16th or 19th or something.

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2016 22:52

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY FRIDAY NIGHTS? ?? Confused

LarkDescending · 14/10/2016 22:53

For what it is worth, the Websters have a big Christmas tree up at home (with the lights on) and Christmas cards on the mantelpiece when Alice is brought home from hospital (52.51).

Manumission · 14/10/2016 23:02

Age, children and creaky knees Zebra?

I might be thinking of me...

Love that larking is giving time codes. They're Brits, they would have their decs down, surely? Grin

If there are nativity e's going up now, do they just have an ox in them?

HarryPottersMagicWand · 14/10/2016 23:42

I reckon the dates on the grave refer to the date they decide she died when they find her body later. Which is why its so close to when she returned. When 'Alice' came back, she said Sophie was not being fed and implied she was near death. Possibly she had already died before Alice escaped. Although I still maintain its Alice who died and Sophie who escaped.

Rewatched with DH so on my third time now.

Did you notice the massive gold cross Alice was wearing when she collapsed? Could her release be because of some religious tie to Christmas, and not because she was ill?

FoxesOnSocks · 15/10/2016 06:21

Do they only put Jesus in after Christmas Day?

Can do, it's either a thing or it isn't. So probably not something you could rely on to be certain about dates.

Oddest thing I felt about the whole thing was the lack of emotion at her return: plus it seemed to take a while for the mum to register that the MP were telling her, at first I didn't register that she was the mum, I rewound to hear the name and realised it was the same as the found girl suit still couldn't figure out the stoic acceptance

LarkDescending · 15/10/2016 07:40

Is it actually a cross Alice is wearing around her neck when she collapses? I was thinking bird - or dagger? (03:17).

BeyondPolkadots · 15/10/2016 08:07

Putting Jesus in tends to be a thing with public displays only, often accompanied by carol singing service on the evening of the 24th :)

diddl · 15/10/2016 08:39

Do we think it's Alice or not?

Would Sophie have had a French accent & could she have lost it?

Might this be Sophie & somehow Alice died during the escape attempt?

But then why wouldn't she want to get back to her own parents?

Bagina · 15/10/2016 20:12

Just watched it again. Daniel (?) is clearly not cleaning up blood. I think someone is breaking in and harassing him about his father's death (suicide?). It can't have been his dad holding the girls though, as that's too obvious. It's definitely linked to the army though, cos of Aldi woman.

diddl · 15/10/2016 20:42

So any ideas who Aldi woman is?

Bagina · 15/10/2016 20:57

I just thought she was high up in the army. They must have known something about the abductions, that's why the guy killed himself/was murdered. The army are involved.

Bagina · 15/10/2016 20:59

But that's like last series when we thought it was the paedophiles but it wasn't.

Scarydinosaurs · 15/10/2016 21:53

lark I was certain it was a cross? Will watch it again...

legoqueen · 15/10/2016 23:09

Watched this tonight - I'm a huge fan of Baptiste & think this series will be as compelling (& traumatic) as series 1. Agree it's very confusing & pleased we have a thread so that we can overanalyse developments. It's gonna be another gruelling one.

MiddleClassProblem · 15/10/2016 23:52

I think it will be a while before we know who supermarket/funeral lady is

MarthasHarbour · 16/10/2016 07:56

I thought that Alice could have murdered the captor, made it look like suicide, then escaped.

Surprisingly for me I found it flowed well. I am enjoying this series more than S1, although I found S1 difficult as I have DS1 the same age.

lightcola · 16/10/2016 08:30

One thing I found strange was the length of detail she went into about what happened that first day she was abducted. It was almost rehearsed and said without any feeling or fear etc. Would you really remember all that after 11 years?

MarthasHarbour · 16/10/2016 08:38

I thought that too cola....

diddl · 16/10/2016 08:47

"I thought that Alice could have murdered the captor, made it look like suicide, then escaped."

But then what about Sophie?(or maybe the real Alice??!!)

They were together, but not necessarily when this girl escaped?

But then if it's Sophie she must know that Alice is dead & won't be found or have good reason to think that?

MarthasHarbour · 16/10/2016 09:01

Yes but 'Alice' could hardly walk due to her appendix. If 'Sophie' is also weak she couldn't carry her. She said she promised she would go back for her but maybe can't remember where she is? Is this the promise her brother gave? To find Sophie.

All random musings at the moment. I have no idea!Grin
