For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

No 3.

The Missing is back next week!

I'm not sure if there are many left, mother. It was getting pretty desperate before I gave up watching/listening to any news, in February 2014.

Alice didn't have a child, Sophie did. Which would tie in with her potentially being pregnant when she was taken.

The words Gemma uses to Eve in 2016 are "Have you ever thought about having kids?".

There is no way in the world anybody (sane) would say that to someone who had had/lost a pregnancy. Let alone if the loss of that pregnancy was for the reason we were shown.

Baffled! Is Eve not the same person as was pregnant in 2014?

whyistherumgone · 02/11/2016 22:46

So many good theories and spots on here! I'm desperate to know - wish it was on Netflix I would definitely binge watch.

I think the mention of the girl in Iraq without us finding out what actually happened to her combined with the discovery of a third girl in the picture will be a red herring - they want us to think it's her!

FoxesOnSocks · 02/11/2016 22:47

I'm so confused, yet I seem to like it.

AnnieNoMouse · 02/11/2016 22:47

In next week's trailer who is the young man they show right at the end? I think he's too pale to be the German police officer, and too dark to be the waiter.

whyistherumgone · 02/11/2016 22:47

anyone got a link to the trailer? I watched on Iplayer and didn't see anything - just googled and can't find it

FoxesOnSocks · 02/11/2016 22:48

Possibly Gemma said that to Eve to hurt her. She is shagging her husband.

whyistherumgone · 02/11/2016 22:49

was anyone else on the edge of their seat when the Brig was talking to DM in present day?
he did say "Alice Webster, I wouldn't forget that. I wonder if they'll ever find out what happened to her..."

is that because he knows the "Alice" who came back wasn't real Alice at all or is he genuinely just muddling his memories?

I'm definitely hooked even though parts of it are ridiculous as others have pointed out.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 02/11/2016 22:49

Doesn't look so much like a crucifix tbh, on a cross the bit at the bottom is longer and that looks more like a +. Could possibly be a bird on its side. The policeman mentioned a parrot tonight, the brigadier talked about birds in that turtle story. Could be a recurring theme.

I had some vague notion whilst watching earlier that the 'Eve' we see now might be the (twin?) sister referred to in 2014.

But I'm sure they referred to her as Eve in 2014 as well so that's a loadofoldshite

AnnieNoMouse · 02/11/2016 22:50

"Baffled! Is Eve not the same person as was pregnant in 2014?"
If pregnant "Eve" and affair "Eve" are actually 2 different people, e.g. identical twins, then that would have to mean both are in the MP. Pregnant Eve in 2014 is shown with her red cap; later there's a scene with her in bed with DM with red cap hanging on a hook.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/11/2016 22:50

It was the German police officer, wasn't it?

"Alice Webster, I wouldn't forget that. I wonder if they'll ever find out what happened to her..."

Couldn't that also mean - what happened to her when, and whilst she was taken? Rather then is she still alive?

AnnieNoMouse · 02/11/2016 22:52

Might there be any relevance in Brig calling DM "Captain"? Is he a Captain now or was that his rank in 2003, or even 1991?

LarkDescending · 02/11/2016 22:52

Eve's response to Gemma, though, is "It just never happened - always moving around". That is surely not a conversation between two women who both know one has lost a pregnancy, whatever the undercurrents between them??

HarryPottersMagicWand · 02/11/2016 22:53

Yes why. For a minute it looked like Sam was having some sort of realisation.

Just seen the trailer again. It was the German policeman that Baptiste2said "when are you going to kill the girl" or whatever he just said. Unless they made it look like he was saying that to the Germans policeman. They do tend to fudge the order of trailers so you think it is something when it turns out not to be in that order.

Ooh, look at this from the bbc twitter. Bird necklace.

On the close up of the corpse in the shed it seems to linger on the teeth, just co-incidence they are the same teeth that Nadia just lost?

They would have done DNA on the teeth surely rather than the bone, maybe they doctored them with Sams DNA.

I also think the Brig was in a position to fudge the results anyway.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 02/11/2016 22:57

Interesting!

It was the German policeman who mentioned a bird this week too. Wonder if that is hinting at his involvement? He was shown at the beginning with his guitar and in the hospital looking into Nadia and Sam's rooms.

It is odd, but I don't think there is more than one "Eve". I do think her absent sister is more likely to be the third woman though, not the Iraqi girl.

Was there a scene in an episode where there was a scan photo on a fridge door and it fell off and then someone kicked it under the fridge.
Or is my head all messed up that I no longer can recall or follow this all
