For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

Elspeth, if you have a good chunk of time free, have a look for the threads. MNers had complex theories involving minute clues that were brilliantly interwoven with all of the rest of the plot.
But he was hit by a car.

BeyondPolkadots · 13/10/2016 12:19

(I haven't watched the new one yet, so trying not to read the rest of the thread til I have)

I thought supermarket woman was the psychologist that introduced herself to the family at the hospital a few minutes after the supermarket scene??

Oh god, now you're just confusing me. Was it her? I'm going to have to watch it again, aren't I?

HarryPottersMagicWand · 13/10/2016 12:34

Was it? Bugger. I cba to watch it again. If anyone else does, feel free to confirm this Grin.

As I see it though, the psychologist had long blonde hair, the supermarket woman had short brown hair. I don't think they make the characters that different in the 2 time lines or you wouldn't pick it up. Unless that's why the brother was so angry with her. I thought she had just not paid him for drugs or something. Probably not though.

I'm checking back in and hooked already. Hopefully this thread lives up to the one for the last series.

I've just rewatched a bit of the first episode on iplayer and I am sure the woman in the supermarket is the woman at the funeral.

The other thing I didn't notice last night is how angry the brother looked when Alice was talking about what happened to her.

MiddleClassProblem · 13/10/2016 12:48

It could be possible that return girl is Sophie and then they find Alice who either the dies or is already dead and they date postmortem. It's hard to say as we don't know where the grave stone date is to the return date. I'm going to do a bit of fast forward/rewind to find out if that supermarket woman could be psyc woman during nap timeGrin sounds like a good call though.

Manumission · 13/10/2016 12:51

No, I think it's connected to 'Alice's' death. That was serious rage he displayed. And you trust the production team more than I do if you think they wouldn't alter the hair colour to keep the audience confused Smile

Do I do my expenses now? Or faff about on iplayer looking for psychologist/supermarket woman/funeral woman. Tough one Grin

Wasn't there are snatch of footage of Alice/Sophie leading them all to a grating in the woods at some point?

Glastonbury · 13/10/2016 12:54

I think supermarket woman was army woman at the funeral. I think her name is Lia Williams from the Wiki page.

The psychologist was dark haired but it's not her.

Manumission · 13/10/2016 13:04

These are the three women.

PollyPerky · 13/10/2016 13:33

This review in the Graundian is fairly easy to follow

The Missing

MiddleClassProblem · 13/10/2016 14:04

I think it's a team effort to understand what's going on Grin

Manumission · 13/10/2016 14:06

It really is. It's a shame we can't have a 12hr MN meet up screening with debates and refreshments between episodes Smile

MiddleClassProblem · 13/10/2016 14:08

We might need a whiteboard too! White board and wine night...

Manumission · 13/10/2016 14:10
Grin

And laser pointers.

mortil2 · 13/10/2016 14:27

I would like to book a place for the 12 he screening event please 😀
It's doing my head in already. Definitely addictive watching and pondering

BeyondPolkadots · 13/10/2016 14:32

Right, I'm up to date now :)
Surely Alice isn't really Sophie? It's way too signposted! Grin

NKFell · 13/10/2016 15:46

manumission aren't pics 1 and 2 the same woman with different hair? Who's pic 3? When did we see her?

Crikey I'm so confuzzled!

McButtonwillow · 13/10/2016 16:13

Ooh I like that guardian review, makes things a bit clearer- thanks Polly.

Those rollercoaster ride pictures, need to know what's so important and why she can't tell anyone she's looking at them... can't wait till next week 😀

Dontneedausername · 13/10/2016 16:36

Well I tried to watch this while MN in bath and got far too confused so definitely need to try again tonight!

Manumission · 13/10/2016 17:42

I think so NK

Pic 1 is funeral woman (2014), Pic 2 is supermarket woman (present day), Pic 3 is the psychologist from the hospital (2014).
