For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

Confusing as possible, but gripping. Surely Alice wouldn't have been allowed home that quickly! She needs so much help.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 12/10/2016 22:12

Ooo loved it!

Keep track of changing hair for the timeline.

Present day, Baptiste has very short, mum has bob, dad has scars, brother is drug addict. Dad is also shagging the woman who was 8 months pregnant in 2014 and she may have lost the baby.

Black man (Daniel?) was cleaning up blood from his fathers suicide. Baptiste is now trying to find Daniel in the middle east.

Supermarket woman, we don't know who that is.

Father and brother obviously feel guilty over something that happened wrt Alice, looks like a fire.

Looks like it isn't Alice after all. Possibly Sophie and she took Alice's identity when escaping. My guess is the real Alice was already dead which will be discovered sometime between 2014-2016 and this is why they were at her grave.

Yes the hospital said she had given birth.

Wow Harry thanks for that. Makes it a bit clearer now

MissWimpyDimple · 12/10/2016 22:16

Harrypotter that's about where I got to too. Although I think it is Alice, at least in body. You can see it's the same person.

We don't know yet what the connection is between Daniel, his dead dad and the story. We also don't know who the woman in the supermarket car park is (she is also at Daniels dads funeral and he gives her the evils).

MiddleClassProblem · 12/10/2016 22:16

HarryPottersMagicWand I think I'm going to need you to do a weekly summery Grin

Glad no one wasted red wine

dillite · 12/10/2016 22:19

Thank you Potter for summing it all up, as I had no idea what was happening. Well, I think I need to find the first series to remind myself wtf happened before, as this seems to be a continuation on the previous series.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 12/10/2016 22:23

Ha ha. Happy to. Grin

When they showed a picture of Sophie, my first thought was how much she looked like Alice, same eye colour so easily could be pretending I reckon.

Or maybe that's what are supposed to think! Like we were supposed to think the paedo had taken Ollie in the first one.

I note how they was cleared that up in this episode. With them talking properly about how Ollie had died. Maybe the writer's realised they annoyed people with the ending Grin.

DH reckons it's the man who committed suicide who did it but I said that would be too easy and we have another 7 episodes to go.

In the current day scenes, Baptiste's wife (obviously pissed off that he has gone walkabouts) is phoning him from a different kitchen. I wonder if they have become estranged.

Pity the bee-keeping didn't work out for him.

The pregnant army officer was in the recent BBC show 'One of us'.

LizzieMacQueen · 12/10/2016 22:26

I wonder if Daniel killed his dad; posed it as a suicide, hence the floor cleaning.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 12/10/2016 22:26

It's not really a continuation. Baptiste was in the first series and that's it. Totally different characters and storyline. You definitely don't need to have seen it to see this one. The ending is blatantly given away on this thread though so it won't be as satisfying to watch.

OP posts:
HarryPottersMagicWand · 12/10/2016 22:27

Oo Lizzie, could be.

I picked up the different kitchen too. Think she got pissed off. It's been 2 years and he is still chasing answers.

Right I know we only saw a funeral pic, but was the army officer who's committed suicide Linda's smug loved up neighbour in Gimme Gimme Gimme Grin

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/10/2016 22:29

Got all that, Harry, other than the suicide. What did I miss that gave that away?

Suspected they were going to switch the girls, but modern maybe-not Alice looks too much like the girl in her mother's photos. Hmmmmm.

Wonder if they'll track down Alice's baby?

Mamia15 · 12/10/2016 22:30

I missed the bit when they talked about Ollie - how did he die?

gingerboy1912 · 12/10/2016 22:30

Noel yes I think it was

gingerboy1912 · 12/10/2016 22:31

So are we saying that the girl that has returned isn't alice? But it looks like her from the photos Confused

gingerboy1912 · 12/10/2016 22:32

Who's Ollie?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/10/2016 22:34

Ollie was the boy who went missing in series one.

Motherwithflaws · 12/10/2016 22:34

Loved it! Can't wait for next week!

MrsFring · 12/10/2016 22:40

Lydia! Lydia from Breaking Bad! .

HarryPottersMagicWand · 12/10/2016 22:44

Was it at the funeral, they mentioned taking his own life. Pretty sure it was.

They talked about Ollie when the documentary that Baptiste made was on the tv in his house. His daughter was watching it and he told her to turn it off. He said about Ollie died, so was confirmed.

I still think Sophie looked a lot like Alice so switch as an adult would be easy. Would have had to do that tattoo though as well.

Laura Fraser was one of the main characters in the lesbian drama Lip Service, and weirdly was in One of Us (by the same writers?) that was on recently. With her own Scottish accent that time

FoxesOnSocks · 12/10/2016 22:46

OK I've watched. I thought he meant she wasn't Alice as in she was no longer who she was.

She seems so much the same person, plus she recognised her parents and knee her brothers nickname (,but then again if she's not the real Alice then the real Alice could have told her the nickname. Saying that I do like the idea of an Alice Imposter.

Was confused from the get go. Couldn't figure about why it was a school in London but they seemed to be in Germany. Took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out!!!

Also don't like when characters are introduced (like Daniel) with seemingly no explanation. The possibility of Daniels dad being the kidnapper - who was at the funeral? Supermarket Lady? Missed that!!

So confused, and freaked out at the open eyes thing at the end!!

gingerboy1912 · 12/10/2016 22:46

Ah I see thanks.

MiddleClassProblem · 12/10/2016 22:47

Alice could have done the tattoo as she was meant to have done it herself. Maybe Alice ran away and snatched Sophie?
