For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

Sorry but who is Sophie Blush

MiddleClassProblem · 12/10/2016 22:52

Sophie was the other girl that was taken that Alice asked for when she was found

MiddleClassProblem · 12/10/2016 22:53

No idea of age difference or when each was taken.

I'm sure if Alice was missing they would have described the tattoo publicly as part of her missing person notice, surely?

MiddleClassProblem · 12/10/2016 22:54

Anyone could find that out and family names. Nicknames a little harder but not impossible...

HarryPottersMagicWand · 12/10/2016 22:58

Given they were locked up together for 11 years, they probably told each other every thing. Not beyond the relms of possibility that Alice told Sophie what she called her brother. And yes, they mentioned a couple of times that Alice tattooed herself so she could have done one on Sophie too.

Baptiste said Alice was never free (I initially thought he meant from the torment of being held captive for 11 years) and that girl that came back wasn't Alice.

I also got the impression Sophie was taken before Alice. Not sure why. Baptiste investigated that, sure he said 2003. Can't see an 11 year old kidnapping another 11 year old. They must have been taken around the same time.

Brilliant, can't wait for next week's episode.

MaynJune · 12/10/2016 23:19

Has anyone mentioned that he big guy who's going to help Baptiste was Andri in Trapped, the brilliant Icelandic series!

2rebecca · 12/10/2016 23:25

It seems to be going for a most confusing plot award. I hate stories that keep changing time.

It seems to be going for a most confusing plot award Grin

Has me hooked already.

mizu · 13/10/2016 07:42

I loved it - can't wait till next week. And loved that Andre from Trapped was in it, sure he will be a great character.

gingerboy1912 · 13/10/2016 08:02

I think it's definitely the right girl that's returned but she won't ever be the same girl because of her ordeal. I just got a bit confused when someone suggested it might be Sophie coming back instead.

EmilyDickinson · 13/10/2016 08:27

MaynJune thank you! I knew I recognised the bearded guy from somewhere. Andre from Trapped. Of course! Doesn't he speak English well?

PollyPerky · 13/10/2016 09:09

Confused. Why did he say at the end that she wasn't Alice? Of course she's their daughter isn't she?

Also confused about this:
the man with the scared back and neck. Is he Alice's father? who was he shagging? Was this in the past or now?

Why did the woman he was shagging take down the photo of the baby scan ? Had she become pregnant before? Is she the woman (red cap) who is now pregnant?

PollyPerky · 13/10/2016 09:12

Harry I thought the short bob was the past. I thought they were visiting the grave that was put there in her memory on the basis she has died (but never been found).

2rebecca · 13/10/2016 09:20

I thought the grave short bob and scars on dad and his affair were later, but think this isn't made clear by the programme makers. Presume girl dies in a fire or something very shortly and dad gets burnt trying to save her. I would have expected the police to Dna test the girl after 11 years missing. The first name she gave when found was the French girls who looked similar

MiddleClassProblem · 13/10/2016 09:21

Short bob was present day but might rewatch to check and attempt to make sense of, well, anything!

2rebecca · 13/10/2016 09:52

I don't recall them putting a date on at the beginning when the girl returned. That would have helped clarify things. They put present day before footage of Baptiste in the middle east, but not before footage of bob mum. Initially I presumed bob mum was before her hair grew in girl returning mum.
At least in a book they usually have dates in the chapter headings if going back and forth so you know where you are.

Glastonbury · 13/10/2016 09:59

Short bob is present day. Dad now scarred is shagging policewoman. She may have lost the baby.

I liked it so far.

Glastonbury · 13/10/2016 10:39

She returned in 2014, I have just rewatched.

ElspethFlashman · 13/10/2016 10:49

Yeah they did put 2014 on her initial returning scenes.

Then in "present day", brother is a bitter junkie, Keely has chopped her hair and Dad has been burnt and is shagging Soldier Girl. Who's child has obviously passed away (I wonder if he was the father all along?)

I think Supermarket Woman was the blonde regimental head honcho with a dye job? So that could be tied into Suicide Dad or Suicide Son and being negligent in some way. Obviously Junkie Brother blames her for something.

ElspethFlashman · 13/10/2016 10:50

I didn't watch the first series - what was the disappointing ending everyone is going on about?

HarryPottersMagicWand · 13/10/2016 10:57

The fact that the writers said there would be a definite conclusion but there was doubt whether the boy who went missing (ollie) did actually die as the dad was still looking for him, in Russia.

I now think he did die and the dad looking for him was his lack of acceptance. It was never shown that he died and they never found a body, hence there being enough doubt.

Bob definitely present day. She had longer hair in the hospital when Alice returned. Definitely said she returned in 2014 so she must have died not long after given her gravestone said 2014.

Elspeth the whole series was based on the disappearance of a young boy. It looked like he was taken. It turned out he was killed by accident and the body hidden.

PollyPerky · 13/10/2016 12:03

I'm afraid i really don't like the flashback techniques- it's toying with the viewer. You can still have a mystery without it being so obtuse.
