For those who loved it last time, will you watch after the let down of the ending? (Well I felt it was a let down, don't think there was a proper conclusion at all and still room for doubts as to whether he was still alive or not).

I loved it though and will definitely be watching the next series. I've seen the trailer and it looks very very good. Julian (think that was his name) is still in it. Looks like it is based on JayCee Dugard/Elizabeth Fritz type cases where they have gone missing as children and reappeared years later.

Cannot wait!

Her not being their daughter would be ridiculous.

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 19/10/2016 22:12

I think I that the senior army guy at the end is the kidnapper (possible paedophile ring and suicide soldier was involved?) and he let Sophie go on condition she framed the butcher, gave his description to the police and was told to pick out his photo (army guy could've shown her a photo of him when she was still captive. Also told her to pretend to be Alice, but no idea why.

Why would she go along with it? To save the real Alice? "Do this or Alice dies"?

Probably completely wrong though.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/10/2016 22:14

Sum up:-

Baptiste clicks on early that Alice has the same nervous habit as Sophie, as confirmed in the video.

Also clicks that the mum has doubts too, think the mum was testing her with the scarf (yellow, like Ollie's) and name of the art teacher.

Alice can't sleep unless she is locked in the shed. Probably going to lead to her death.

Receipt found in bunker which leads back to the butcher. Butchers wife is ex army and knew Henry Reed who is now dead, kept a diary mentioning her then stopped in Iraq.

Baptiste and guide been taken in Iraq (or where ever they are), same man who followed him from the bank was there as well. Daniel recognised by the people who have taken them. Has he joined them?

Dad possibly father baby with Eve, who's dad has dementia.

Turns out the Brigadier knows more than he's letting on and I think is trying to get Alice to go along with it. She is getting uncomfortable about this. Could lead to her death. The way he said she wasn't a little girl anymore, he definitely knows her.

Alice has identified butcher bloke as the abductor but in the present day, Baptiste says finding Daniel Reed will lead them to who took the girls.

Gemma has found a pen from the hotel in Sam's pocket, she'll work out he's having an affair.

Sam lied about getting his scars sorted. Maybe he thinks they should stay there as a reminder of what happened because he feels guilty.

I didn't get the roller coaster bit either. In one pic, it looked like there were 2 girls, but I couldn't tell if they could have been Alice/sophie. Then the other pic appeared to be men.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/10/2016 22:15

It's 8 episodes. 6 to go.

Tonight explained why Alice's brother went for butcher's wife in supermarket car park. She's the wife of the chief suspect in Alice's kidnapping. And in the present day he could be in prison for the kidnapping?

GreenGinger2 · 19/10/2016 22:17

But the chances of getting 2 girls similar, let alone identical would be beyond unlikely. Hair, eye colour, scars, bone structure...... You'd know instantly. She wasn't a baby but on the verge of womanhood.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/10/2016 22:17

The rollercoaster pictures are still being flicked through. We don't know why, although it seems Gemma is doing it after being told to by Baptiste. She hasn't found anything yet so the pictures we've seen so far don't mean anything.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/10/2016 22:19

She was 11, not really on the verge of womanhood. She left at 11 and has come back as 22. A lot will change in that time. Baptiste said they looked like sisters. I thought straight away they looked very alike when they showed pictures of Sophie.

Did the kidnapper take one of the girls on a trip to the fair, but she doesn't know when, hence the mother flicking through thousands of photos taken on the roller Coaster???

HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/10/2016 22:23

Could be Cantget. Maybe they will see who the girl was with and that will help, identify the kidnapper, although it certainly looks like more than 1 person was involved.

The bunker was strange. Nothing there considering they were supposedly kept there for several months. Wonder if the Brigadier set that up as well. Something would have showed up there, hair, blood, anything.

GreenGinger2 · 19/10/2016 22:25

Nah my dd is 11, I'd know without a doubt. You wouldn't change much facially from 11.

TheSpottedZebra · 19/10/2016 22:25

And what's the significance of her necklace? It got 2 close - ups. Have we seen it before, or is it a red herring? Was she wearing it when at school, outside the fence?

MiddleClassProblem · 19/10/2016 22:27

Hi! Haven't read back yet so sorry if I'm just saying what others said. Wasn't sure where we were posting but apparently there have been 69 posts here so I'll just go here.

So obvs assuming a fire shed but maybe it's a car accident with the jag?

What did he sooo!?!

Hate Aldi woman

Waiting for Henry flashbacks. There must be some as I swore it was Brian Bovell on the funeral pic.

PollyPerky · 19/10/2016 22:32

ok this much is obvious:

the brigadier is a baddie. He told her that if she opened her mouth- like the turtle- she will die. It was clear the moment he went outside to 'have a quiet word' that he was implicated in it.

she may be Alice or she may be Sophie. The writers are teasing us. Either scenario is possible.

She will most likely die in a fire in the shed with dad trying to rescue her.

Not sure why dad doesn't want his back fixed - or does but is lying to KH about the cost.

Suspect Baptiste is being tracked down by cronies of the UK army.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/10/2016 22:33

He's doing up the jag in the present day so probably not that, unless that's why he is doing it up. I got the impression it's something he does because him and Gemma don't have much of a marriage anymore and he's doing anything to just not be around her.

I think the fact she sleeps in the shed, the scars and the brothers guilt mean she possibly dies there.

OP posts:
HarryPottersMagicWand · 19/10/2016 22:36

I think he doesn't want the scars fixed because he thinks he doesn't deserve to have them erased and think they should stay as a reminder of what's happened. He said something about going back to normal when the doctor said he could get rid of them. I don't think he wants to go back to normal.

Something is clearly up in the army camp at this German base. As per the last season, this programme didn't give much away, it seems to be one programme full of information and the next a bit of a filler, with just enough to keep the viewer hooked; and there is enough to make me really want to keep watching.
