2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

40,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch the last episode of series 2. And that first post is a distant memory.

Morning. Very heavy frost here and snow forecast for later.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather Rhu. There are a lot of bugs doing the rounds at the moment. Keep warm!

Awful pun re Trump, sorry! On that subject however, is anyone staying up to see the results of the US election? The coverage is almost worse than the stuff about our own elections. Far more mud slinging, that's for sure and our own lot aren't exactly whiter than white.

Excellent Rhu certainly the word I remember from my childhood days but certainly takes on a whole new and worrying meaning at the moment

icemistOBE · 08/11/2016 08:02

Morning, I did stay up the year Obama first won. I'm not staying up this time, although I do hope Hilary wins, I dread to think what Trump could doShock

Then he wanted to on a tram and I didn't so he stropped about it....

Rhubarb01 · 09/11/2016 08:07

Morning! Rhubarb present.

Yes, words almost fail me today!

The only humour I can find in this is that if the Democrats want to win over women voters in four years time I can think of a candidate who would do a brilliant job....

Ilovelblue · 09/11/2016 08:15

You'd think Trump would have alienated all women, Muslims and Latin Americans. Words fail me. It makes Brexit pale into insignificance.

Rhubarb01 · 09/11/2016 08:17

Sadly, ilove Trump's camp seem to have held up Brexit as some kind of inspiration in spite of the mess we are all in here at the moment.

Whoops, getting a bit political - better stick to sexual politics I reckon.

Ditto to all your comments. I cannot believe it. Thank goodness for you all and my parallel world. To cap it all we have 2 inches of snow so I feel a DVD coming on and perhaps some extra housework or not!

kazzaD66 · 09/11/2016 09:59

To paraphrase Molly, you can't trust the septic tanks Confused

KeziaOAP · 09/11/2016 16:05

Couldn't believe what I was hearing when I turned on the news Confused.

Overheard a conversation in the supermarket debating the outcome, one of the comments was his mouth reminds me of a chickens a..e!! I chuckled to myself whilst finishing my shopping Grin

Rhubarb01 · 09/11/2016 16:56

Well Kezia I must admit that Trump is an impersonator's gold mine. I have been practising the alternating pointy fingers, hands spread wide and OK sign routine for weeks and also the...emphatic,... way of....pausing before....delivering your lines and I reckon if someone so totally unfit and unqualified can get the most important job in the world then it could possibly get me a promotion at work - so I'm gonna try it on my boss! (or maybe not!)

On a tiny serious note, I heard a few snippets of the speech he gave this morning and already the whole tone of his voice and words etc has completely changed to be softer, conciliatory, accommodating. It's interesting that now he's got the job he wants to be friends with everyone. Still I wouldn't like to be Theresa May on my first visit to the White House knowing he's probably going to be rude about my looks, outfit etc etc as soon as I leave the room.

Ilovelblue · 09/11/2016 19:13

Evening all. I've never heard so much political discussion at work as there was today, even after one of our own elections! I daresay we'll all get fed up of the media coverage after a couple of days but it is fascinating, yet quite scary at the same time. Continuing Rhu's theme, can you imagine President Trump meeting the Queen, Prince Charles or Prince William? Or rather, can you imagine their comments behind his back?

Ilovelblue · 09/11/2016 19:17

I had to take a screenshot of a page on a website we use at work (as there was a query with it) and was about to send it to my boss before emailing it off to one of our central services. I suddenly realised that all my browsing history was across the top of the page. OK, I could live with the fact he knew I checked up on my bank account, the weather and even eBay but definitely NOT this thread or the ff site! Thank goodness I realised in time.

Richtea19 · 09/11/2016 20:14

Just checking in after a shell shocked day listening to radio interviews all day on the election . Unbelievable, words fail me.

I have stag knickers that I believe helped me to get my job (lucky pants!) but I lost the bell ages ago, deep in washing machine heaven with all the odd socks.
