2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

40,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch the last episode of series 2. And that first post is a distant memory.

Rhu thank you for the synopsis on The Missing, I'm so. Moody confused with It, it's doesn't help when I get so many interruptions from boys while I'm watching it. I'm sticking with it though!

Last day of school hols and I'm abandoning the kids and going to Olympia for the Spirit of Christmas show. I've been going every year for the past 6 years. Same old stuff but a lovely get together with some girl friends, with a boozy lunch thrown in!

Richtea19 · 04/11/2016 07:29

Yes I can be Moody but I meant bloody!

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2016 07:35

That sounds lovely Rich. I'm planning to brave the Bath Christmas Market this year. I haven't been for a few years but the DD's would like a day out with some Christmas shopping thrown in. It will be heaving and I'll probably feel like freaking out by the end but I do fancy a bit of yuletide spirit. Hope you have a lovely day.

Now must go and get DS up out of his bed for school - what a bad parent Grin

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2016 08:18

I had been doing two calendars with my own photos for two friends' presents last night Rhu and the website wasn't very intuitive, hence the late posting.

I will try to be there with you for Strictly but I am on a shopping trip to Chester and it may depend on the traffic coming home. Got to admit as well that the inane chat between dances is getting on my nerves this year. Claudia is worse than Tess.

Nickel45 · 04/11/2016 08:20

Morning :)

Have a fab day rich. I love the Spirit of Christmas Fair, but didn't get myself organised enough this year to go. Meet up next year Wink? Mind, I seem to buy more stuff for me than for anyone else, and always come home with lots of gorgeous alcohol! whats not to like!!

I've a boring day catch up with washing, etc. yawn!

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2016 08:57

If anyone is interested, I think MK is on with Jonathan Ross tomorrow night.

TRish47 · 04/11/2016 09:14

I am still lurking. The Missing is yet to be shown over here in NZ. But I am loving Poldark and Cold Feet. Night ladies it is off to bed for me.

kazzaD66 · 04/11/2016 12:24

Still lurgified so watched eps 3 & 4 from s1 yesterday. Had to stop near the end when they were on the bridge to pick DS up from school. Must finish it and ep 5 today.Grin Big respect pix for managing to watch the whole s1 in one day. Loved the commentary and photos (swoon) . Hope you feel better soon Smile

YorksOAP De-lurking after about two years when I found you all because I could not find any of my friends who watched OG, all Downton fans!!! Lucky me when I found you on the BBC website You have made me laugh and I think you are amazing Someone said they were old enough to be 'our lad's' mum well I'm old enough to be his gran this does not stop me being one of CJ/BA's FANS Thank you ALL you have helped me get through some difficult times. I may be too embarrassed to post again but was afraid everyone was disappearing

user1471547055 · 04/11/2016 19:23

YorksOAP not sure I've even done this right !!

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2016 19:44

Hi YorksOAP - a very warm welcome to the madness and please don't wander off now you've delurked. I think we've all been through the embarrassed, knee shaking "Hi, my names's Rhubarb and I'm a CJ Addict!" moment.

We've been having a quiet patch I suppose since the end of series 2 but there's plenty to keep us going until series 3 airs. I think lots of us have found this thread a source of help and support over the last couple of years and just a good place to escape and have a laugh so you're in good company,

What did you think of series 2 and what would you like to see in series 3? - obviously lots and lots of a certain Captain would be a very good start Grin

user1471547055 · 04/11/2016 20:05

YorksOAP absolutely we need the Captain but I can't quite see how. Once I started watching S 2 as a separate story and not a continuation I enjoyed it especially when I knew CJ and Molly were married disappointed she didn't have even a cameo appearance. At least I now have both DVDs for the future.

KeziaOAP · 04/11/2016 20:09

Hello everyone still here in background, been laid low with lurgy this week was at a wedding last Saturday sat next to a sneezing and coughing guest Hmm. Beautiful wedding, bridegroom sporting most magnificent beard!

Welcome YorksOAP I too am old enough to be CJs gran...... what's the saying ..... you are as old as you feel Wink

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2016 20:18

My neighbours are holding their annual three day firework extravaganza and my crazy dog wants to go out for a wee during it so I've had to take him into the front garden on a lead instead. He's just not bothered about the bangs but I'm bothered about all the firework sparks and bits landing in the garden and on our conservatory roof!

user1471547055 · 04/11/2016 20:22

Please can you tell me how to change the number to YorksOAP.
You are all such experts at this

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2016 20:27

Or in our case Kezia we are as old as the man we would like to feel Grin Now if that doesn't make you feel better nothing will.

I know what you mean about CJ Yorks - it's hard to see how he might fit into series three. Will it be the Georgie and Elvis round 2 show or something completely different. That's quite an interesting conundrum for TG - there are so many directions in which this could go.

Rhubarb01 · 04/11/2016 20:32

I think you just need to go to your Account where you are logged in (My Mumsnet at the top of the page) and change your username there. You probably have to enter your password again to confirm it. I've kept mine for so long I don't actually know - anyone else?

Ilovelblue · 04/11/2016 20:53

Ooooh, somebody new to join our happy little band. Hi there Yorks. Glad you plucked up the courage to join the madness on here! You're never too old to admire CJ! I think we can all remember how nervous we were to post for the first time so you're in good company.

If you've been reading recently, you'll know that I'm now a fan of Elvis too. Wouldn't turn either of them away if they knocked at the door!

It's absolutely pouring with rain here and so not a good evening for anyone who has chosen to have a firework party.

Alwaysfrank · 04/11/2016 22:50

Hello all! Just checking back in - I'm still here, always reading but only occasionally posting as I don't seem to have too much to contribute. I seem to have a rather dull life at the moment full of work and household admin - I don't recommend having so many children all at different schools from the admin point of view.

It's interesting to me that you can tell from the thread that series 2 just hasn't had the same impact as s1 - I bet if you looked back at the threads from this timeframe after series 1 ended it we were still dissecting it. Like others I enjoyed s2 as a standalone thing but it hasn't occupied my thoughts in the way that s1 did. I certainly don't feel compelled to buy the DVD.

I'm also enjoying The Missing- it is quite taxing mentally and I can't believe it's only half way through. There is a very long thread about it with some interesting plot theories. More questions than answers for me from last night.

I can't remember if anyone has mentioned Cold Feet - but I really enjoyed that. There aren't many supposedly funny dramas that make me laugh out loud but that did, at times. It exceeded my expectations well and truly. I may buy the old ones to watch again on DVD.

Strictly as always makes me smile on a Saturday night and despite not knowing many of the celebs at the outset I'm really enjoying the series - even Ed Balls has been a revelation. And Greg - I thought I had a "type" - think brown haired brown eyed captains - but Greg certainly floats my boat. He and Natalie make a very handsome couple.

Lovely to see we have another de-lurker - welcome Yorks OAP!

Finally I'm feeling quite pleased with myself as I did my first ever parkrun last weekend. I've been so lazy for the last 20 years or so but I've been doing the couch to 5k program since the end of June (with a month long injury break) and decided it was time to do the parkrun. I can even say that I beat a certain Olympic gold medalist who was also there for the first time, but to be fair he was running with a young daughter! I ran with one of my twins who was very sweet but it was a bit dispiriting when we finished and he declared that he wasn't even out of breath! I wasn't fast but still did better than than I expected. I'm not repeating it tomorrow, going to watch ds1 play rugby instead.

Hugs to you ice, sorry to hear about your mum but I'm sure they will look after her well.

user1471547055 · 05/11/2016 07:53

YorksOAP. Thank you for your welcomes. Thinking of you Ice and sorry to hear about your mum I am sure she will be well looked after. I agree my escape to Afghan either on ff or DVD for an hour ( or) three have been a great help. Also all the brilliant photos on the other websites of our favourite Captain! You are all very clever. I think I have learned quite a bit by trying to find as much OG info as possible! Hope you all have a good weekend. Has anyone seen how many STAGS are in the shops this year perhaps it's because of all the extra sales last year. Bye for now doggy sitting sons dog this weekend so walks in the cold for us.

user1471547055 · 05/11/2016 08:04

YorksOAP
Obviously a treasured possession so only used to show everyone

Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2016 08:31

Morning! Rhu present and correct for roll call as promised.

Yorks what a lovely thoughtful DD you have. How nice to be able to literally put your lips to CJ every time you have a brew!

Plans for today have altered a bit. DD has changed her mind about the college so I will probably end up doing the usual round of ferrying about and shopping. The sun is out today although a bit cloudy and it's chilly. I don't mind though as the autumn is my favourite time of year - I'm a hot drinks, firesides and cosy blankets type - Did I just mention firesides? Do we have any new contenders for the 2016 Naked Fireside Wrestling Championships?

Rhubarb01 · 05/11/2016 08:35

Naturally, I would suggest the final is between Elvis and CJ - may the best man win Grin or perhaps it could be a very noble draw. You, of course, may think differently.

Ilovelblue · 05/11/2016 08:58

What a lovely present Yorks! I think we've all upped our IT skills being on this thread!

Cold and sunny here today but quite windy. Just getting ready to go to Chester. I'm pretty sorted with most Christmas presents so will probably end up buying stuff for myself. If nothing else, I need a new frame for my BA signed photo!

Rhu I don't believe Elvis would necessarily play fair in a wrestling match. Is it Queensberry rules or is that boxing? It'd be worth watching though. Smile
