One week to go. Anyone else can't wait?
I've just started to rewatch the first series. Not sure if I'll get to watch it all again before next Sunday though.

Yes-can't wait.
We get back off holiday next Sunday when the first episode is on & I've told my dh we better be back in time.

Just watching Victoria to see if it's any good.

AcrossthePond55 · 28/08/2016 22:13

I just watched season 1 for the third time. We won't get season 2 here until next Spring. Sad

I'll spend the next 6 months forcing myself to not read the MN Poldark threads!

TheHiphopopotamus · 30/08/2016 17:57

Hi snozzle

I was wondering when someone would start a Poldark thread Grin I can't flippin' wait for Sunday!

snozzlemaid · 30/08/2016 20:03

Hello Hiphop Poldark fever is definitely rising. Lots of interviews on their way. Radio One tomorrow morning apparently.

I'm totally over excited. DH has already started putting in exasperation...

Last summer I ate in the same pub in Cornwall, that Aidan Turner had eaten in the week earlier (the waitress showed me photographic evidence on her phone

And I sat on the same chair as him [swoons]

MaQueen · 30/08/2016 20:31

'Tutting' in exasperation...

I've been very lucky to be able to watch both series being filmed. And even more lucky to actually meet AT when they were filming series 1. We had a lovely chat and I got his autograph. No-one else around seemed to know who he was. That was very different last year when they were filming S2. Hoards of people following him around!

AT is seems such a honey, and those clothes, both the men & womens costumes are so lovely. Love the tri corn hats especially. I saw a lovely tall girl wearing one at a festival recently and asked her where she got it, Venice was the answer. There is a hat shop near where we live and the owner makes wonderful hats including tri corn style, , but expensive as you can imagine, £ 90, wish I had the spare money & the nerve! 😊

Me! Me! Me! Although I'm a Poldark purist so hard to please Wink

How did you find S1 in that respect?

TheHiphopopotamus · 04/09/2016 10:44

Bumping this for tonight. Haven't seen any of the promotion as sometimes seeing the actors out of character ruins it for me a bit, although AT seems a lovely bloke and a lot smilier than Poldark, but the trailers looks good.

Hoping it's as good, if not better than S1.

snozzlemaid · 04/09/2016 12:39

I've high hopes too. Really looking forward to watching new episodes. It's been soooo long.

Can't wait here either. AT grew up not far from me he comes from a very normal family from a very average part of Dublin and still seems very grounded no one better then Irish to put you back in your place if you start getting above your station 😁. I was so taken with series 1 I started reading the books. On book 6 now will be interested to see how far this series goes

SmileAndNod · 04/09/2016 13:14

Another one here who can't wait to see the beautiful Aidan Turner Cornish scenery. Have been waiting a long time for this. I like to think of it as my treat for surviving the summer holidays Smile

ElspethFlashman · 04/09/2016 13:15

Placemarking! Have Book 3 ready to go!

I tried starting it already but it's a bit boring in the beginning so I shuddered to a halt. Hopefully I'll get motivated when watching.

Am also a purist and am worried about certain alleged changes to this season. But we'll see how it plays on screen.

Last time I found myself surprisingly enjoying Georges character as the actor plays him very neutrally. I found myself thinking Ross needed to stop being such a drama llama about George, lol!

snozzlemaid · 04/09/2016 13:31

Are the books/stories new to you all?

Being from Cornwall, the Poldark story has been with me for most of my life. I watched the original series as my Mum was a huge fan and have read all of the books a number of times.
So I can't explain how happy I was to hear they were remaking it and was even more delighted to learn AT was to be Ross. The icing on the cake was then to find out they were filming series 1 a couple of miles from where I live on a sunny Sunday in June, two years ago. Pretty much spent the next couple of days there watching. I knew as soon as I saw the filming how much of a success this was going to be.

I read the first couple of books after watching the series. I kind of wish they'd strung it out a bit though, they packed a lot into the first series.

I'm sure I remember my mum telling me about when they did Poldark the first time and everyone hated Elizabeth. I'm kind of glad they didn't go down the route of making her a total bitch, but I didn't warm to her much. The actress who plays her has a very modern look and I'm not sure she's 100% right for the part.

Absolutely loved Eleanor Wotsit as Demelza though.

I agree. I watched the first series again recently and dp commented on how rushed it seemed. They covered an awful lot in each episode. Shame they couldn't have done one book per series.
However, they are only doing book 5 and half of book 6 for series 3. So they've obviously thought there's too much story in two books for that series.

OP posts:
TheHiphopopotamus · 04/09/2016 16:15

I think if maybe it had been done by one of the cable networks (like Outlander and GoT) there would have been about 12 episodes per book Grin

However, they are only doing book 5 and half of book 6 for series 3

Hmm. Would still prefer a book per series though I think.

snozzlemaid Ditto
St Austell this evening Aidan and Eleanor will be there

snozzlemaid · 04/09/2016 17:52

I know Portia. I did apply for tickets but didn't get any. Thought about going along anyway to watch but then realised it'll be incredibly busy so you probably won't get near the place.
I'll settle for hopefully watching a bit of filming at Charlestown again.
