I've just started to rewatch the first series. Not sure if I'll get to watch it all again before next Sunday though.

Think the book was more grim and Graham described a man being hanged. I read it years ago mind.

Very good tonight. The actors look ridiculously young though. I suppose I watched the last series as a child originally but were the actors older?

I'm heartened that we've already had a scene with the shirt off. Hopefully, it's now written into his contract that in each episode he has to take his shirt off [optimistic]

Dramatic episode , loved it!!! Have been a fervent admirer of Aidan since he was in Being Human saw him filming scenes in Cardiff back in 2010. The crush has deepened since then and saw him at Comicon in London in May this year when I had a photo with him and an autograph as well.as a a kiss and a hug! He really is more handsome in person! He called me gorgeous and darling in that lovely Dublin accent I still grin stupidly at the memory! Am bloody besotted! Was also lucky to get preview tickets at the BFI at Southbank two weeks ago and got to see the first episode and a special preview trailer as well as a Question and Answer Session with Aidan, Eleanor who plays Demelza and Debbie Horsefield. Was really impressed with how they handled the first episode, they said in the q and a that they have to amalgamate certain characters. Love the way George is portrayed as well so bad he's good

inthepoldark Bugger. I noticed earlier that Prezzo was in the thick if it and said to dp we should have booked a table. Never mind, have enjoyed seeing all the photos.
The story was pretty much as in the book IrenetheQuaint.

I'm not keen on Caroline... 😩 I adore Caroline in the books and am very fond of Caroline Mk1 but this girl isn't doing it for me so far. She has no expression in her voice? Where's the humour? Where's the snarkiness? Where's the glint in her eye? I know it's early days but I know those scenes so well and she just didn't pull it off.

Caroline is wrong, she's supposed to be red haired and Ray Penvennen is supposed to be miserable! Q
However all forgiven for the shirt off ratio in the episode

I was so looking forward to Caroline appearing. Yes the hair is utterly wrong. It was wrong in the first adaptation too but that was down to a strop by Angharad Rees!

Caroline was definitely a disappointment in this episode but she may well improve. They packed a lot in, I do love seeing the original Ross in it I swear he has a twinkle in his eye and a wry smile whenever the camera is on him in his scenes with Aidan.

It's so good that they've given him a decent part. Of course they're not silly, he brings with him all the disgruntled first timers like me but even so. I even just like hearing him say the name Poldark. His voice hasn't changed

I know what you mean Shelagh. I loved it when he said 'Ross Vennor Poldark'. He really gave it his all. That name obviously means so much to him.
I don't care about hair colour, but Caroline lacked something. I was expecting a big impact for her first appearance and it just wasn't there.

I wouldn't care about hair colour if everything else worked, although WG did make a big deal about her red hair so it seems odd to go against that. But Caroline is sharp and witty and clever and she was none of that last night.

I haven't read up to her, so didn't get the importance. All I thought was her bleach job and red lipstick was a bit much. She looked like Ye Olde Trollop.

But I was more pissed off that Demelza only has one dress.

And whoever is doing the hair extensions has gone a bit mad this year. Hair-capes everywhere!

Shame George is going down the typical baddie route. It's not that interesting unless there's nuance.
