One week to go. Anyone else can't wait?
I've just started to rewatch the first series. Not sure if I'll get to watch it all again before next Sunday though.

Loved Aunt Agatha's "bitch please" expression when she was explaining to the utterly thick Elizabeth that the baby might not be Georges.

What exactly was Elizabeth planning on the kids education? He hasn't had one so far. He doesn't have any friends either. George was right in that it is lonely. Elizabeth looked shocked at that.

I think the actress playing Aunt Agatha is fab. She stays just the right side of the line.

I think she's going for this year's Maggie Smith BAFTA for "Most snarky old crone".

Agree Aunt Agatha is a great character
Does anyone know when the next series is being aired? Looks like they've already filmed it from the clips in the trailer?

I got the wrong end of the stick as I thought the auntie was implying that Elizabeth should fake a miscarriage - didn't even think of the baby being Ross's now that would be interesting!

Elizabeth would be considering a governess, followed by a tutor when he was older for Geoffrey Charles, not sending him away to school.

To those of you who've seen the original TV series, would you say it was quite true to the books?

Yes. There were differences of course, and some quite key differences. But in general the storylines followed the books and the characters were more true.

One of the biggest differences came at the end of the original series one, which is the end of series 2 in the new one. They were told they had to end the series on a cliffhanger. So the decision was made to burn Trenwith down (caused by the mob we saw last night). This took the start of the next series to a new house, Penrice, which hadn't appeared in the books but was on TV was the home of aunt Agatha and series 2 was the first time we saw her.

I was thinking of watching the original but have decided to read the books instead. First one on the way in the post Smile

Bit late to this thread but have just finished S2 ... no longer sure I'd run towards Aidan, if Dwight was at the other end of the alley ... What lovely eyes he has ... am smitten Grin

I'm late too, but I was watching it on catch-up.

I seriously heart Dwight he's at least ten years younger than me. Beautiful blond hair. Beautiful eyes. And he's so principled.

Caroline isn't good enough for him. [bitter]

...Except where other men's wives are concerned.

Has everyone else forgotten that or does no-one care? Shock Grin

Eh? Really? I don't remember that. I probably don't care either, he's hot stuff

He was shagging one of the villagers wives. Villager found out and wife got strangled. Mind you, it was a bit 'blink and you'll miss it'. They made it a one night stand.

Thanks, beguiling. TOTALLY forgot/missed that! Ah well, will have to watch him it again. Grin

I've just finished watching all two seasons in one weekend. Two observations:

  1. I need to visit Cornwall.
  2. I'd ride him like Seabiscuit.
