Is the Malaria anotehr word for Zika virus?

Zika viral infection is a mild issue, although obviously the effect on babies is much more serious. It isn't anything like malaria noah.

She has malarial encephalitis which is a fairly rare complication of malaria. I hope she'll be OK.
The German kayak coach died a few days ago after a car accident in Rio.

I have never heard of malaria in Rio , we don't even have malaria here in the rural backlands of Brazil!

Oh just read she was in the North East! They do have it there I believe. Don't people take anti-malarial medication, or is it a rare strand that is not covered by that? Apparently she is out of her coma though.

Even the best anti malarial tablets don't give full protection dizzy.

Was Watching tae kwon do with DH. We're both slightly beer impaired but the scoring system seemed utterly opaque. WTF was going on? (We were watching the Egyptian and Spanish semi finalists. How did the Spanish woman win???)

i think there was no scoring at all, so they went for one score and you are out, and then the spanish scored.
the egyptian was very menacing, i felt sure she would win.

Is it like in judo (I watched the other day), where they don't even need to score? The first to commit a foul is out.

Is the Malaria another word for Zika virus?

Malaria is caused by species of the genus Plasmodium, a protozoan, an eukaryote. It's a parasite of red blood cells. It's been known for centuries.

Zika is a virus. It's only been talked about in the last couple of years.

It's like comparing an elephant with bacteria.

Anyway, it's mostly present in the Amazon and thereabouts. It looks like she got the worst species, Plasmodium falciparum to get so ill.
The best way is to use mosquito repellents, but for some mosquitoes it doesn't work well, particularly if the person sweats a lot. So, I've been told by experts.
Glad to know she is recovering.

I'm sure I heard on the commentary that the socks the tae kwon do athletes have sensors in them so when their kick connects, it automatically updates their scores.

Not sure how the socks know when it's a kick or when it's a 'standing back on the floor' thing though
