Both transmitted by mosquitoes but Zika is a viral disease and malaria is caused by a protozoan, Plasmodium.

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2016 08:42

I only meant has she got Zika but they are labelling it, as Malaria.

She wouldn't be that ill with the Zika virus.

dizzyfeck · 19/08/2016 08:52

I've had zika, it's not even as bad as flu.
Usain Bolt seems to play it up when he knows the camera is on him. He was listening to music yesterday during the men shot put, as he knew he was being filmed he did a little dance. We used to like him, but I think the fame is turning him into a big show off.

IwannaSnorlax · 19/08/2016 12:20

Thanks Red.

CaveMum · 19/08/2016 14:02

For those that want to follow the Brits in the Showjumping, Nick Skelton goes 4th and Ben Maher 9th of the 35 competitors. First one is in the ring now so I'd expect Nick Skelton to be up in the next 5 minutes or so.

CaveMum · 19/08/2016 14:15

Whoop whoop! Nick Skelton jumped double clear (no fences down and within the time allowed) so worst cas scenario he's in the jump-off for the medals. Of the 5 riders to jump so far he's the only one clear.

CaveMum · 19/08/2016 14:20

Bugger! Just realised there is another round to go before the Showjumping medals. This round is to whittle the 35 down to 20.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 19/08/2016 16:22

Good stuff from Team GB showjumpers though cave. Fingers crossed for the next round.

CaveMum · 19/08/2016 16:37

Round 2 is at 5.30pm our time this afternoon. Nick Skelton is one of 9 to jump clear, so fingers crossed he can stay on that score. At almost 69 he must be the oldest competitor in the field!

CaveMum · 19/08/2016 16:38

Oops, I meant 59 Blush but still!

powershowerforanhour · 19/08/2016 18:09

Go on Big Star! Yes!!

Dolly80 · 19/08/2016 18:12

Have you seen the cuts that will be made to the Paralympics?

m.bbc.co.uk/sport/disability-sport/37135083

I feel very disappointed, especially after the last 2 games in Beijing & London did so much to raise the profile of Paralympic sport.

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2016 18:12

The show jumping is getting very exciting.

CaveMum · 19/08/2016 18:24

3 double clears so far and I'd fancy Nick Skelton in a jump off.

NoahVale · 19/08/2016 18:35

That is a shame Dolly

LotsOfDots · 19/08/2016 18:41

The cuts to the Paralympics are awful, so disappointed for the athletes.

TrionicLettuce · 19/08/2016 18:51

I can't decide if it's more or less stressful Nick Skelton going first in the jump off

CaveMum · 19/08/2016 18:57

They said it suits Nick to go first in the jump-off, he likes to put a marker down for the other riders.

He's the only one clear so far, if one more of the three riders left knocks a fence down then he's guaranteed a medal.

Freshprincess · 19/08/2016 18:58

I love show jumping, could watch it all day.

LotsOfDots · 19/08/2016 19:00

Definite medal for Nick, brilliant.

LotsOfDots · 19/08/2016 19:02

GOLD!!!

powershowerforanhour · 19/08/2016 19:03

It takes somebody very good to be able to go first and judge how much they have to do. Well done great stuff!

Igneococcus · 19/08/2016 19:03

Hurrah!

TrionicLettuce · 19/08/2016 19:04

Fabulous!!! Grin Grin
