Afternoon, been out for a few hours.

From what I've read the 'situation' in Poldark is now consensual

Really looking forward to OG now, have watched the trailer a good few times and seen it on tv too, been on before/after Olympic programme so obv pushing it. Works will fly in and we will be all here chatting again about it Grin

Wonder if any of our old members will come back....

Afternoon all

We’ve had a lovely few days, got a few jobs done (not enough) but had a nice meal out and managed to watch a bit of the Olympics (watching now). Back to the grindstone tomorrow though! I saw a picture of that gymnast rhu that leg was at an angle legs shouldn’t be at wasn’t it, made me cringe just to look at it.

I’m also very excited too about series 2. I was amazed how much CJ sounds and looks like CJ too, if that makes sense? It must be hard to recreate the character when you’re filming 2 years later. I too am hoping he’ll be in it plenty, with some reference to what Molly is up to too and perhaps if we’re lucky a cameo from LT. September really doesn’t feel too far away does it.

I’ll also be watching strictly, GBBO and Poldark when they return too. Just started watching brief encounters and that’s good. Fairly light hearted in the main and even DH has had the odd laugh.

Glad to hear the move went ok Jen, hopefully you’re soon unpacked and feel at home.

Sounds like you had a lovely day out pix and the festival of light sounds beautiful rich.

cjwoofwoof · 07/08/2016 17:41

With a face/body like that I can't see how it can't be consensual in Poldark ice and Rhu but I suppose the small matter of it being nothing like the book should be taken into account...

Olympic fever here too - particularly ladies beach volleyball - in a house full of males I wonder why... Blush

MaddieMoo82 · 07/08/2016 20:21

Evening all. Ended up a lovely day and managed to get lots done. Still a large ironing pile to do but doing that whilst watching the Olympics. Did anyone see awful crash involving the leader of the road race... Horrible. Looking forward to the diving in a mo.
Saw the full poldark trailer earlier. Looks fab and AT very yummy. You have obviously been keeping him in tiptop condition woof good work Wink

MaddieMoo82 · 07/08/2016 20:23

Oh and yes woof during London 2012 my work staff room at lunchtimes was heavily oversubscribed when the beach volleyball was on.... Male and female Smile

cjwoofwoof · 07/08/2016 20:56

We've now graduated to the rather cheekily clad ladies synchronised diving mads . Quite pleasing to see some cellulite dimpling even on top young athletes very reassuring

Yes I saw the Dutch lady cyclist crash mads - it looked so horrendous I thought she was dead, but thankfully she's conscious and gone to hospital thank goodness

MaddieMoo82 · 07/08/2016 21:02

Yes woof glad she's ok. Watching ladies diving too and I'm telling you if my swimsuit fitted like there I'd spend the entire swim session trying to retrieve my suit! Smile

cjwoofwoof · 07/08/2016 21:21

Precisely mads - it's disgusting how men ogle and bjectifybwomen in such a lecherous manner.............

cjwoofwoof · 07/08/2016 21:21

Objectify women even...

MaddieMoo82 · 07/08/2016 21:24

Yes shocking Grin

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2016 21:43

Evening! Taking a break from Olympic watching at the moment after watching a lot of gymnastics and I also caught some of the diving too. I watched 'Brooklyn' on Netflix earlier - sweet film but and not too taxing so ideal for a Sunday as I'm beginning to find the Olympics confusing with so many channels etc. I actually haven't got a clue now what is or has happened etc and feel a bit detached from it all. I sort of preferred it when it was just on a couple of channels, they hopped around to everything and we had a big catch up show.

As for Poldark well, that's to be expected I suppose in a more politically correct age - they couldn't have got away with that could they. Strange how things have changed, though, as in the seventies version they stuck with the original storyliine and it was somehow accepted by audiences Confused. Perhaps it was just vague enough not to raise eyebrows then.

As for the ogling and objectification of one sex by the other - utterly disgraceful Grin

MaddieMoo82 · 07/08/2016 21:48

The channel thing is confusing rhu. I just watch whatever is on bbc 1!!

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2016 22:00

To be honest mads I think the time difference issue is confusing me as I keep thinking the evening stuff is catch up but it's not. Here's Poldark again before the news - they are pushing this aren't they along with OG and I saw a trailer for something else earlier.

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2016 22:02

Sorry the something else was called 'One of us' I think.

cjwoofwoof · 07/08/2016 22:02

Aah bless the fencing man Kruse who just missed out on a bronze against a real dour Russian. God we Brits know how to lose gracefully probably coz we're so used to it

Ditto re Poldark rhu but that's the PC brigade for you. Is it wrong to feel disappointed Confused ?? I'd find a very cross Ross extremely attractive I have to say

Heligirl79 · 07/08/2016 22:12

Evening all,

Got back from holiday Friday night, so it's good that we have had lovely weather this weekend, as have managed to get all the washing done. Had no access to wifi for two weeks though, so have also been catching up with some ff.

Have seen the OG trailer a few times today. I'm thinking that it may be on Tuesday evenings after the Olympics have finished, as they have had some good dramas on that night since the new year, hopefully we will find out soon. I only managed to watch a couple of episodes of Poldark last time, so hoping to catch it this time round.

Been watching the Olympics this evening, just seen the cyclist crash on the news, looked horrific.

MaddieMoo82 · 07/08/2016 22:13

The way he stood patiently waiting to sell well done to the winner... So polite! Like you say he's probably used to it bless him!!
Not sure I'll be staying up till 3am to watching the swimming! Time zone thing is a shame.

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2016 22:16

Shouty, stern-faced captains in any other scenario definitely acceptable.

pixieg1rl · 07/08/2016 22:19

We've been having a similar chat on the Outlander thread about quite home much rape is used in the stories, excessively so. Reading the books it can get a bit wearing after a while.

I haven't seen any of the Olympics yet. I have a feeling that they will pass me by this time around.

Ilovelblue · 07/08/2016 22:30

pixie I'm a bit like you and the Olympics don't really do it for me. By the time I'm back from holiday, I think they'll be over halfway through.

I saw the OG trailer on BBC1 at long last! That could be because I've not really seen much television this weekend but I was beginning to think I was missing out!

It's absolutely pouring down here. It was so windy this afternoon, went dark early and then chucked it down - more autumnal weather than summer - but it has been very warm all day.

Rhubarb01 · 07/08/2016 22:30

I'm guessing pix that with Poldark it's a case of not being able to reconcile the popular image of the character after series one and the modern view of the situation with the flaws that the character has in the original stories. We'd never be able to accept him in the role of hero and would probably condemn the writers for trying to spin the story that way - hence changing it to fit modern sensibilities. I don't know Outlander but I'm guessing the TV version differs somewhat from the stories?

cjwoofwoof · 07/08/2016 22:44

Oh dear I haven't seen any of the trailers yet apart from the long one about what's coming on later in summer that included all the dramas a few weeks ago Confused . Thanks to mads for her clip on here or I'd be really out of the loop Confused Confused

MaddieMoo82 · 07/08/2016 22:47

That's the only trailer I know of woof I think it's that it just started to be shown on bbc so we are getting to see the lovely captain on our wide screens Smile

pixieg1rl · 07/08/2016 22:48

Yes, they have made the tv characters more likeable (IMO). The next series which will be based on the 3rd book has a similar situation in it when the main heroic character is less than heroic in his dealings with a young lady. I'm looking forward to seeing how the scriptwriters deal with it. There's plenty of disagreement between the fans of the books.

We're binge watching our way through Vikings at the moment, which is enjoyable tosh. I have a feeling that woof would be a fan of Rollo, who strides around looking moody in leather trousers and jerkin.

cjwoofwoof · 07/08/2016 23:06

Ooh you know me too well pix - I do enjoy a Nordic jerkin...or is it jerking, I can't remember. At my age I'd probably be grateful for either Grin
