I could watch it during the day tomorrow, but DH wouldn't be able to.
We watch them together so we can have someone to hide behind...lol.

SootSprite · 26/06/2016 18:59

If tommen dies does margeary get to rule as queen? If not, then who is next in line? Did we ever decide on this?

Tommen's claim to the throne is as Robert's son.

If Tommen dies then in theory the next-closest Baratheon relative should have the throne. Not sure who that would be as all Robert's children and siblings would be dead.

But realistically everything would go to pot because the throne is there for the taking. You need to have an established line and the support of a majority of powerful families for the distant-cousin scale of inheritance to work.

OlennasWimple · 26/06/2016 19:34

A few theories on succession here. Personally I think Gendry has to stop rowing and come back into it at some juncture, otherwise he was a rather pointless character...

Trills · 26/06/2016 19:37

I'd love it if Gendry reappeared but I don't think it's necessary for him to do so.

Gendry helped Ned realise that Robert's children were not his (because all of Robert's children have black hair).

His blood helped Melisande do some magics.

Is that not enough? Or do you think that he needs to have died in order to properly signal "we're done with this guy"?

Hot Pie has a name and is still alive, but nobody especially thinks he needs to do more.

Oblomov16 · 26/06/2016 19:44

Loved the bastards episode. Brilliant.

Feel the last couple of episodes have been too jumpy - flitting around from different storylines - and I fear last episode will be the same, as I fear they have an awful lot to fit in, to bring all the different sections to some sort of closure.

AliceInHinterland · 26/06/2016 19:45

I thought Gendry lived to show Davos as a good guy. Did he help him to escape?
Cait remember food before one is for fun - GOT is a serious business.
I think in the book the amputation thing is considered as a greyscale cure but I think it is unlikely to be effective - does anyone remember that bit?

RJnomore1 · 26/06/2016 19:53

I think it would depend if the greyscake is a blood borne virus in which case it would be through all your system or more like a fungal infection in which case it could be localised?

OlennasWimple · 26/06/2016 20:25

I guess greyscale is fungal, as its contracted through contact, so amputation might work? Easier to try with an arm than poor shireen's face anyway.

I guess I feel Gendry is a loose thread. Hot Pie I can envisage working at that inn, marrying a local girl and eventually owning the inn when the current owner dies. His pies and shaped breads become something of a local delicacy, and he becomes well off in the process. He has some lovely rosy cheeked children, and lives into whatever a good dotage looks like in GoT.

Gendry is in a rowing boat...

There were other Baratheon bastards around to make the hair colour connection (plus Cercei's first born), even if no one else in the whole of Westeros has twigged that Hmm

Good point on the blood though

RedLarvaYellowLarva · 26/06/2016 21:19

New to this thread - hello!

I haven't read the books, but have watched the show from the start. I'd like to read the books but was planning on reading them once GRR had finished them, and the show was over too. Good idea, or would you recommend I start reading soonest?

8dayweek · 26/06/2016 21:26

I thought Shireen's greyscale was cured by Melissandre / a red Priest, hence why Seleyse took the Rhollor / the red Gods? And then eventually Stannis turned to her too? I'm not entirely sure where I got that notion from though Confused and I'm half cut so this post probably doesn't make all that much sense.

Middleoftheroad · 26/06/2016 21:33

Cait My 10 year olds fend for themselves when I watch it before school/work. Special video game treat as I know they will be hooked. Just don't tell the head....Angry

MustStop amputation works in the Walking Dead (immediately after a bite though) so good suggestion.

Excited beyond belief now. Nothing DH is suggesting to watch tonight or ever holds a candle. Ethg (apart from TWD) on Sky seems inferior right now. Though it's tinged with sadness as I know I will feel bereft afterwards (I know you all get it - others would think me a crackpot)

Middleoftheroad · 26/06/2016 21:38

Red hello and welcome!
I started reading a couple months ago and nearly on book 3. I want to catch up so I can read the new one at the same time as everybody else. Do it, as it gives more context and depth to the show and I want to know more about characters who haven't yet appeared in the series like Lady Stoneheart and the 'real' Reek etc.

AliceInHinterland · 26/06/2016 21:41

Red you could be waiting a loooong time for the final book!

Middleoftheroad · 26/06/2016 21:52

That's why I figured i had chance to catch up. And gain a few more grey hairs inbetween...

RedLarvaYellowLarva · 26/06/2016 21:58

Lol yeah, could be waiting a long time, but I figured it would be something to look forward to when the show is over, fill the gap. But I get the point of adding context and depth. Also have two little DC so not even sure how much reading I'll manage to even get done.

Middleoftheroad · 26/06/2016 22:24

Red I read them on my tablet and listen to audio book when driving doing dinner (with headphones in bed!) etc as I am a sloooow reader!

iklboo · 26/06/2016 22:26

I've just watched this episode. OH MY BLOODY GOOD GRACIOUS!!! ShockShockShock

CaitAgusMadra · 26/06/2016 22:28

I'd start the books - the first in particular are a cracking read. It means you can join in all the hype and discussion if when the last 2 books come out.

Speaking of books has anyone here got the World of Ice and Fire book? I'm considering it to keep me going when the series is finished and my re-read is done. Mainly read on kindle but think this might be better in hard copy for illustrations etc?

CaitAgusMadra · 26/06/2016 22:28

*the first 3

YesThisIsMe · 26/06/2016 22:38

Iklboo? Are you saying there's been a leak? Do we need to brace ourselves?

YesThisIsMe · 26/06/2016 22:39

Oh, or do you just mean you've only just caught up with Battle of the Bastards?

Middleoftheroad · 26/06/2016 22:42

I checked about half hr ago but it wasnt avail on Kodi. Is ep 10 leaked Iklboo?

EverySongbirdSays · 26/06/2016 22:46

Because it says in the title and OP, 'this thread is for the episode Battle Of The Bastards' I'm hoping Ilkboo has just caught up.
