every I still love you!

WeDoNotSow · 17/06/2016 20:00

Every Grin
We don't hate you!!
We love you, because you discuss with us things people in RL don't, they just look at us me weird, with a look a pity, thinking you sad fanatical little geek, you.

WeDoNotSow · 17/06/2016 20:12

I'm now walking around the house humming 'Everybody hay-ates Chris' Grin

Mumanddadtoone · 17/06/2016 20:15

I love you all, I finally found people who understand my obsession, my friends and family think I'm weird Grin

TheNorthRemembers · 17/06/2016 20:15

Yes, we love you EverySongbird, you start these lovely threads.

Wedonotsow I am clinging to the hope that if we do not whinge about the show, we'll get a date for the books after the last episode. Just the fact that it is called Winds of Winter give me hope, and then we'll not have to find out everything on the show.

Some confusion on the Indy over the description of the next episode. Essentially whether episode 9 will only be about the Battle of the Bastards or Mereen as well.

EverySongbirdSays · 17/06/2016 20:16

I was kidding. Grin

Thanks for the love though Grin

I am a bit too hyped though. I need to calm down Blush

And I'm just going to say it : don't get fans who don't WANT to read the book and dare I say it.

YOU AREN'T PROPER FANS

Wait? What? WHO SAID THAT?

HOW VERY DARE THEY!! Grin

Ducks for cover from the inevitable flaming

Can I ask a dumb ass question as I am snailing through the books?
If HR is the HS wouldnt Jamie have known HR somewhere along the way?

Also, my colleagues think my black Jon Snow mug is odd as it is not dainty bone china and covered in flowers and nobody watches the show!

MissMoo22 · 17/06/2016 20:18

I wanted Gendry and Aria to get together.
I want Jon to stop being suck a miserable fucker, he's just a sad sack and I really want to love him as much as other people do.
I want Dany to realise taking the Dothraki to Westeros is the stupidest thing imaginable.
I want to know why the Targaryans are the bees knees in the show. Like why does Jons real father being a Targ mean so much? And why does it matter than maybe Tyrion is aswell? If Targs are prone to madness then surely being a Targ isn't exactly great?

I want Ser Davos to be in every single episode because I love him.

MissMoo22 · 17/06/2016 20:23

I think the HS is much too old to be HR. Wasn't he a similar age to Ned in the TOJ scene? And Meera and Jojen didn't come across as people who had been raised by such a person as the HS. And would he have sent them North to find Bran to save the day if he was really a HS and he believes in The Seven? Surely he would be thinking The Seven would be saving the day not a warg.

EverySongbirdSays · 17/06/2016 20:25

So, it was inspired in large by The Wars Of The Roses, the Targaryens are the Ruling Family going back aeons.

Like The Lancasters here. Then The Yorks usurped the Lancasters after one of the Henry's (I want to say Henry VI) went mad.

Henry Tudor became 'the Last Lancaster' and that was a big deal. When Richard III ruling went South the love and loyalty of the people transferred back to the House Of Lancaster - as the "real" Royal Family - so being the last Targ is a big deal.

Additionally the Targs had dragon blood

Humpf! Well I may not have read the books but I have sat on the iron throne

Middleoftheroad · 17/06/2016 20:28

Every Trying to repent by reading books and listening to audio book in car. My DH would argue that I am still obsessed despite coming to the books late. I want to read them all - like yesterday!

Miss I agree with all your points. Mostly. Jon is mardy but I love him so. Gendry and Arya Flowers

Middleoftheroad · 17/06/2016 20:37

So if Gendry is half Robert who in turn was 1/4? Targ (his Grandmother's side?) does this make the bastard even more entitled to a crown? Or does the word bastard preclude him?

EverySongbirdSays · 17/06/2016 20:38

That period of history Lancaster-York-Tudor is a really interesting one. Lots of intrigue people accused of shagging their brother (Anne Boleyn) Witchcraft (Elizabeth Woodville) A younger brother being accused of treason and getting drowned in some wine (George of York) Two young boys being robbed of their birthright (and did they die were the bodies theirs) - the inspiration is all there

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 17/06/2016 20:42

Gendry is an unacknowledged bastard of a usurper. He's way down the queue. Henry the 8th had an acknowledged bastard by Bessie Blount, he may well have inherited had he not predeceased his father. Henry Fitzroy I seem to think

There isn't even any real proof for Gendry to show that he IS indeed Roberts, sure Davos and Melisandre know, but he'd need the backing of an army to take the crown and he wouldn't get it. Jon is trading on the Stark name.

Hello I'm Wing and I'm a GOTaholic.

I'm the only one in my family (tbf the kids are a bit young) but the more I try and persuade dh to watch the more stubborn he gets about not watching.

Anyway it seems I have found my people so I'll delurk and hopefully add to the conversation.

Oh, I've read the books too (fairly recently and I skimmed some boring chapters Bran )

EverySongbirdSays · 17/06/2016 20:47

Hello!!!!!!

Welcome to Castle Black

Hands up if your eyes DIDN'T glaze over on Bran

and/or the bloody Kingsmoot in Book 4

OP posts:
WeDoNotSow · 17/06/2016 20:49

I'm even reading Conn Igguldens 'War of the Roses' series whist waiting for WoW.
Not quite the same of course, but scratches the itch a bit, and is far more interesting than just learning it.
I may have also been slightly embarrassed I knew more about Westerosi history than our own Blush

WingMirrorSpider · 17/06/2016 20:50
WeDoNotSow · 17/06/2016 20:51

Kingsmoot - Totally skimmed
Danny's chapters - skimmed
Brans - Devoured in fact, his were the first ones I went back to on my reread. I must be the o oh one here

EverySongbirdSays · 17/06/2016 20:53

The ones I've read are the Phillippa Gregory's - I like the fact that they focus on the women about whom no-one has bothered to tell their story focusing instead on the men and their deeds.

The trouble is they ARE a bit soapy and sensationalist

May have to read those Sow

I think if HR=HS he would be on some sort of mission, not a genuine believer - anyway I do think it's unlikely (not my theory, I don't have an original thought in my head) but where the bloody hell is HR? He needs to fill in some gaps for us.
The books do go on a bit though Every I'm anticipating and dreading WoW in equal measure - especially if they contain the phrase 'words are wind' a billion times like the others.
I'm not really that into Jon, but I think you get to a point where you have followed a character's story where them just up and dying on you is not a satisfying conclusion. There needs to be a point to it! Arya and Dany are the other two that I feel like that about.

EverySongbirdSays · 17/06/2016 20:54

CHRISTSAKE

I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT KEEPS HAPPENING
