Late on the thread this week! Reading with interest. This is a nice spot about the opening credits.

Why do we blame Sansa for asking littlefinger for help? She needs those troops and they are Tully troops after all. I thought she was foolish and proud to send him away in the first place

I don't particularly blame her, I just would hate it if she ends up with the North, Rickon comes before her anyway, so a wish for Sansa to be Queen in the North is a wish for Ramsay to flag a child

I think little finger is a dickhead, and Sansa learning from him will turn her from an airhead in to a dickhead. She's gonna go from simpering and stupid to smirky and smug I can feel it...

I'd also like to point out its show Sansa I can't stand.
Book Sansa is much better

Sansa starts out as smirky and smug at least in the books

Now I'd say she's a self preservist and if that means throwing anyone under the bus, particularly Littlefinger and including Jon she'll do it.

I don't predict a pleasant end for her to be honest.

Unless she ends up Lady Lannister of Casterly Rock.

Remember - Tyrion said he wouldn't shag her until she asked him to, maybe one day she will.

Sansa needs to end up with the talented Podrick (presumably he'll be knighted at some point). Or maybe Gendry, after he's come out as a Baratheon

Brienne should turn down Jaime's advances (made after he sees Tormund lusting after her, and realizes his true feelings for her)

Dany deserves better than Ser Jorah, but would eat Jon Snow alive. Series of lovers set aside once no longer useful for her, I think

Tyrion should end up with Shae

Jon will leave Sansa and Rickon at Winterfell to rule and go to fight against the dead. Don't think Sansa is betraying Jon. She's seen Ramsey defeat Stannis and knows what the Bolton army are capable of. She's learnt to use people where necessary which is a step up from Ned and Jon's honour which frankly got them both killed.

I totally have Cersi burning down Kings Landing after she is defeated in trial by combat.

Shae is dead, isn't she? He killed her.

I've only read one book (gasps) but in the show I have enjoyed Sansa's development. Spent first few seasons screaming at screen. Using LF men is the clear choice and I have no issue with that. Dare I say I miss Baelish?

I also have no issue with Margary's current tactics.

Brienne is still my favourite female though. I also liked the female Wildling leader who unfortunately got savaged by baby walkers.

In the show Cat seemed very entitled. Not sure how that plays out in the books or if LS is a strong female of merit?

Olennaswimple Tyrion can't end up with Shae, he strangled her in Tywin's bed before he shot Tywin on the lav...

The thing with Lady Stoneheart is she's more of a concept right now, she's been referenced and had a couple of really creepy/badass scenes, people are more excited over the idea than reality

I'm still loving it, but I do feel that the show's writers are missing there being a book, even with GRRM's approval or input for plot-scripting. It's nothing specific, it just feels a tiny bit aimless.

That's not to say I'm not completely gripped, it's more that it seems as though they don't know where it's going and therefore don't have the clear map to get there.

It's hard to change or cut stuff if you don't understand how important it's going to be in the longer term. And it's doubly so if you underestimate fan-love for detail...

I may be proved wrong in the next couple of weeks though!!

I think the plotting is better without the books, the latter of which ramble on about people who I really couldn't get bothered about, more Dorne and Iron Island candidates for kingship.

Littlefinger's army does not belong to the Tullys, it is the Arryns' from the Vale.

Brienne, however, based on the trailer will ask the Tully army to join them in the North. [bitterly crying over this wasted storyline]

I had to check what my username was, as I had the impression I must have written under the alias Wedonotsow People always talk about Sansa reconnecting with the North, the castle made of snow, etc., but to me she is the most southron person in the whole of ASOIAF.

Although Jon is definitely after Sansa in succession, in the book there is a lot of arguments over this and lords mainly prefer an adult male heading up an army / house. Now that they saw Sansa, they are all going to choose Ramsay or Jon. Dany is clearly good at inspiring people, but that is the exception.

Jon would surely never accept primacy over Sansa though (Or Rickon if he lives, or Arya who I forgot in my previous post ). It's utterly against his nature to take a throne to which he is not entitled. Head of the Night's Watch is fair enough - he was elected so he took the job even though he didn't want it.

But Lord of Winterfell is not something you can be given by public vote - either it's yours or it isn't, and it isn't Jon's unless a king he recognises (or the senior Stark sibling) legitimises him. I think if he hadn't been bound to the black he would have accepted Stannis's offer, but now Stannis and Shereen are dead I can't think of any Baratheon pretender who the Starks might recognise. And it's not within the Karstark or Umbers' power to give.

In the book, who knows! There were loads of them, and Robb made the comment about not leaving all your treasures in one purse.
In terms of the show? I'd say it's with the Umbers maybe? Who else was with him just before the red wedding?

All the women who are thriving are doing so by behaving like men, though, aren't they? Dany, Arya, Brienne, Yara are the ones I would reckon to still be standing at the end. Sansa, Margaery, Cersei - all more typically feminine, all most likely to come to a sticky end IMHO

I don't know. Olenna is pretty feminine and is totally winning at life

Was Asha all about 'fucking the tits off the whores' like Yara is? I can remember her having that doting boy running round after her than she used and abused a bit?
It just seems a bit lazy to me, she sails a ship like a man, and so she must want to fuck the whores like a man...
