How did the hound not hear everyone being slaughtered, but heard a horse whinny?

Did 'arya' walk past oyster selling arya on the bridge pre stabby stab stab?

What is the point of the theatricals unless they are set to introduce lady crane, who will help arya if she is arya-arya and not the waif/syrio/other/nameless?

Margery is so long-game.

Jamie in his armour.

RJnomore1 · 07/06/2016 23:10

Yes minor that's what it was - odd - like people were looking straight through her. I thought they just didn't want involved but perhaps they didn't know she was there.

Returning character with significance in terms of something they do in the books listed on IMDb for next week.....

OK, I've just re-registered after a long break from MN posting (though a fair bit of lurking) because I've just spotted something from Season 4, Episode 3 that I wanted to share...

When the man who shares his rabbit stew with Arya and the Hound is saying grace, one of the mentions is "the Crone, who takes us from dark to dark". Is it coincidental that the Waif appears as a crone when she stabs Arya on the bridge?

Cerseirys · 08/06/2016 06:39

In the books it's Littlefinger who sets the whole train of events in motion by convincing Lysa Arryn to poison her husband and then write to her sister, saying she suspects the Lannisters killed him. So if not for him, Ned would still be alive and the Starks would still be together. Has this been covered in the tv series? It doesn't look like Sansa knows he's responsible for the decimation of her family.

Snapespeare · 08/06/2016 07:54

sigh of Jamie in his armour appreciation.

RJnomore1 · 08/06/2016 08:19

I've been thinking about this.
I reckon dany is just who we think she is.

She's already targaryen so I can't see any benefit from her being the child of a different targaryen- it wouldn't even give a stronger claim to the throne as she's a direct descendant, last targ, has no real claim anyway ...etc so I can see no point to a random side story there.

Isn't there a theory one of the other male targs is still alive though? Or was that raegar and it's been confirmed he is definitely dead?

WeDoNotSow · 08/06/2016 08:20

But be honest, who came up with R+L=J by themselves? I didn't, I just read about it.
GRRM came up with it 20 years ago, but due to the Internet, and how long it's been, it seems like it's soo obvious, but I certainly didn't get it on my first read..
I hope he sticks with whatever he originally planned, and doesn't change it because people have guessed.

WeDoNotSow · 08/06/2016 08:22

I cannot watch throne cast, it infuriates me...

TheNorthRemembers · 08/06/2016 08:28

So good I did not see this picture last night. There is no way I could have gone to sleep. [sigh] NCW is the perfect Jaime, that is why I hate the butchering of his storyline.

Professor Snape Please do not make the Arya story even more complicated. Some of us are struggling to keep up as it is. You are a keen observer.

EverySongbird You would think Bronn and Pod are mates, but noone seems to remember anything in the show. Now I have to go on IMDB.

Olenna Great name. The Crone is also one aspect of the Seven Gods representing wisdom.

TheNorthRemembers · 08/06/2016 08:34

RJ The other Targ do not appear to be in the show. But lots of characters are part-Targs like the Baratheons, Hightowers, Brienne, probably Varys, the Sand snakes, Sweetrobin, etc.

Why does Thronecast infuriate you Wedonotsow? I never watch it, so would not know.

WeDoNotSow · 08/06/2016 08:54

North I watched it a few seasons ago and it was really good...
This time around Sue Perkins (who I usually like) seems to want to cut off anyone making actual comments about the show/plot, so she can make shit puns instead Hmm

Trills · 08/06/2016 09:07

Did anyone else look at the initial "tra la la we are building something out of wood" and hope that Gendry might be around?

NeedACleverNN · 08/06/2016 09:21

Gendry must have rowed around the world at least 5 times by now.

NeedACleverNN · 08/06/2016 09:23

Did 'arya' walk past oyster selling arya on the bridge pre stabby stab stab?

Actually I did see that! My eyebrows raised slightly as I spotted someone wearing the exact same clothes as oyster Arya with the hair the same colour and style but forgot about it pretty quick

pyrowall · 08/06/2016 09:27

Oh I'm going to have to watch it again aren't I! Oh well!!Grin

I'm home alone today, signed off work following surgery and put on Season 2. I don't think I'll be able to stop watching! I had forgotten Arya and Gendry teamed up for a bit; their relationship is touching and hilarious in equal measure. I hope they will be reunited.

Watching Theon unravel again is agonising, knowing what becomes of him. He's so weak and arrogant and so, so wrong. But I wish the Iron Islanders were a bit nicer to him and averted the whole hideous story.

(I had also forgotten how he rocks up on the Iron Islands and immediately fingers his own sister on horseback. That was pretty unpleasant viewing with the benefit of knowledge as well!)

LaserShark · 08/06/2016 09:45

And I'm struck by how funny and witty the show was as well - I do think some of that has been lost, though now Bronn is back I'm expecting some great one-liners.

CaptainWarbeck · 08/06/2016 09:46

Yes need good spot!! Are there loads of Aryas walking around then?!

Here's 'cat of the canals', I just went searching for a screenshot too Grin
