QUITE, QUITE SURE? YOU REALLY WANT TO DISCUSS SERIES 6, EPISODE 2?

OK. I think that should be enough.

Right. R B - greatest TV villain of all time? I didn't see that coming!

OP posts:

I think it was to reinforce how truly awful Ramsay is, sansa.

George R.R Martin has commented that Gameof Thrones was inspired partly by the War of the Roses. Some of the people from that time did very brutal things.

Also, you can't dismiss it as non incidental to the plot. Murdering a rival and the relation of someone his father supposedly had an alliance with is likely to have repercussions in the plot.

My favourite episode was late in season 5 when it was all about the battle of the Watch. One episode detailing a story.

I liked that best too magrats but I'm still enjoying the rest.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/05/2016 10:27

After killing Walda and the baby, Ramsay is absolutely going to be put down like a mad dog. As Roose warned him approximately 30 seconds before Ramsay stabbed him.

limitedperiodonly · 03/05/2016 10:41

Ramsay's death scene has to be inventive. I wonder how they'll do it. I'd like to see his own dogs turn on him. I don't know how you'd get them to do that but anything is possible.

magratsflyawayhair · 03/05/2016 10:49

I'm still enjoying it I just feel like it would benefit from the characters starting to come back together.

When Ramsay dies I just hope it's long, drawn out, and painful. And I really really hope Theon and / or Sansa get to witness it.

Hersetta427 · 03/05/2016 10:55

I wouldn't normally post any links but this sketch on SNL in the US is amazing - Jon Snow as a dinner party guest - hilarious.

I never thought I would feel sorry for Theon until Ramsay showed up. How things change!

CaroleService · 03/05/2016 10:56

I think there is a narrative point to the Walda / baby deaths if they precipitate a change of loyalties from the Frey clan.

limitedperiodonly · 03/05/2016 10:59

magrats I also liked the episode where Jon inspired the Wildlings and got them on the move and the terrible sacrifice of the woman who was savaged by child wights because she couldn't bring herself to destroy them. And now she's a wight too [sob]

If Ramsay's death is not painful, drawn-out and satisfying, I'll eat my extra thick Cumberland sausage.

limitedperiodonly · 03/05/2016 11:00

Hersetta thanks. I love that. 'These sprouts are amazing. Is this pancetta?'

Hersetta427 · 03/05/2016 11:03

There is one of Melisandre at a baby shower that is good too!

GuinefortGrey · 03/05/2016 11:18

I can't get the idea out of my head about Arya and Jon.

  • The scene where Mel washes him was reminiscent of the washing of the bodies in the House of Black & White (the temple place of the Faceless Men).
  • I don't think it was Mel's magic that has brought Jon back to life (partly as she had no idea what she was doing/not done it before and partly because she has lost her faith). It could be pure co-incidence that he "came back" a short time after her attempts, and after Jaquen has led Arya away and told her she no longer needs her begging pot.
  • Arya has suffered to much to become "Faceless". Why? Surely there must be a purpose to all this Faceless business! She and Jon were very close...
  • Arya has always wanted revenge/retribution for those who hurt her family. This was difficult for her to achieve as a "mere" girl - but, as a Faceless Man in Jon Snow's body, she would have far greater opportunity.

I am probably barking up the wrong tree but the more I think about it, the more it sort of works. The whole scene with Mel bringing him back to life was just too "meh". Her magic clearly didn't work but Jon's body is back to life (but perhaps it's not Jon inside that body???)

GuinefortGrey · 03/05/2016 11:23

It appears I'm completely wrong 😂 Although I did enjoy my theory while it lastedGrin

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 03/05/2016 11:29

Yay for Jon Snow!

I am liking these separate threads for each episode, makes it much easier to avoid until we've seen it.

limitedperiodonly · 03/05/2016 11:31

I want Ramsay to be humiliated and terrified at the moment of his death. I wonder if that will happen or if he'll just accept it.

GraysAnalogy · 03/05/2016 11:33

Guine there's a theory that it worked because she had lost her faith. Like the other person who could resurrect did and all he had was desperateness to bring his friend back

PreviouslyMal · 03/05/2016 11:42

It was an almost exact mirroring of what Thoros of Myr told her about his first resurrection of Beric Dondarrion - he was at his lowest point and had lost his faith.
I always wondered about that episode, they must have known how they were going to bring Jon back way back then .

GraysAnalogy · 03/05/2016 11:45

Thoros of Myr that's who I'm on about ha

GraysAnalogy · 03/05/2016 11:48

I have to say I have enjoyed her acting and Lena (Cersai). The bit where we see Cersai's face close up as the little boat comes with her daughter on board holy fuck the emotions that woman portrayed in that moment.

Cerseirys · 03/05/2016 11:59

I never thought that show portrayed Ramsay as horrifically as he is in the books.

True. At least the TV Ramsay didn't make Sansa have sex with his dogs Confused

emilybohemia · 03/05/2016 12:11

Interesting theory, Guine! I sort of don't want it to be true because I want Jon to still be Jon if you know what I mean. If Arya goes in Jon what would happen to Arya's physical form? Would someone else be using her 'face¨?

GraysAnalogy · 03/05/2016 12:12

John and Arya are defo not joined

boldlygoingsomewhere · 03/05/2016 12:12

Yes, cerseirys! Also, Theon didn't have to 'get her ready' for sex like he did poor Jayne. That would have been so wrong on the show given that he and Sansa were like brother and sister.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 03/05/2016 12:14

What CERSEIRYS said about in the books Ramsay Snow's wife having sex with dogs is based on this quote from Jeyne when speaking to Theon.

"No. This is some trick. It's him, it's my... my lord, my sweet lord, he sent you, this is just some test to make sure that I love him. I do, I do, I love him more than anything." A tear ran down her cheek. "Tell him, you tell him. I'll do what he wants... whatever he wants... with him or...or the dog or... please... he doesn't need to cut my feet off, I won't try to run away, not ever, I'll give him sons, I swear it, I swear it..."

emilybohemia · 03/05/2016 12:17

Westley, he married someone then locked them away and they ate their fingers I think too? A sick man indeed.

Cerseirys · 03/05/2016 12:43

It's a shame Theon decided not to stay with Sansa and travel to Castle Black. Melisandre is there, and if she can bring Jon back to life then surely it won't be much trouble for her to magic up a new cock and balls for him?
