I've just seen the new .

Hang on to your hats for a another round of pregnancy/childbirth bingo and the continuing adventures of the most drama-filled antenatal group and understaffed maternity unit in the country!

Previous thread here to remind yourselves of last series/loose ends and see if any of Bertie's predictions come true!

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 01/06/2016 16:39

Oh yes and why was she giving out her personal mobile number as a midwife support line?!

No I think the grandmother will end up blocking the parental thing or there will be some kind of showdown.

brambly · 01/06/2016 19:54

Having been watching this largely for the lols, as they say. Was quite sweet in a naff sort of a way last series but this one is just hilariously crap.

The behaviour of the gang members (as it were) at the inquest was beyond shameful, though. Just awful. Handing out flyers for a baby's party, that gormless seedbrain Dev going "you go girl!" when a witness was called, and that godforsaken blog bint going "tell me about it, took me a year to lose mine" when the deceased mother's weight gain during pregnancy was referenced, just Shock

Bunch of thick fishwives, almost to a woman (and man, for that matter). Am also playing the "guess the future storyline" game and tempted to try and think up some kind of drinking game to go with it!

AndYourBirdCanSing · 01/06/2016 20:06

I would be with you on the drinking game of I wasn't pregnant! That scene was so utterly ridiculous. I could quite happily slap Jasmine, that stupid Dev and Kim. Just unbelievable. That 'and we all love her!' comment from Dev in the court room... Is he 12?!

Self obsessed idiots. I think I might stop watching now as not good for my blood pressure Blush

southeastdweller · 01/06/2016 20:43

Roanna was oddly calm in this weeks episode. I think I (and most people) wouldn't have let my daughter talk to me like I was something she stepped on and would let Simon know that going off on a year long jolly to Italy and abandoning his son was out of order.

Chippednailvarnishing · 01/06/2016 20:55

Just watching this on catch up. The court scene is completely ridiculous, like you would bring your nct mates to a hearing.

MargotLovedTom · 01/06/2016 21:01

Jas has always been a bit sour faced and grumpy if you ask me.
So Kim and Neil still didn't manage to bother their arses to check on how Rosie and ? (can't remember the lad's name) were coping. You know - his teenage son and his teenage girlfriend with their two tiny kids. Maxine showed more compassion in five minutes than those two have shown in the last three episodes.

NeedACleverNN · 01/06/2016 21:03

I feel quite sorry for Dev though

I know Jas is pregnant with twins and is really hormonal BUT she is really sharp and nasty with him. Things that don't bother her with her friends seems really irritate her with him.

They have really made a parody of the hormone and partner thing

Unpropergrammer · 01/06/2016 21:05

Just want to rant about how social workers seem to be portrayed as devil incarnate on this show.

I'm a sw (don't shoot) and I enjoyed the first series even though there was a few eye rolling moments. But this series so far we've had

  1. Denise getting pissed off because ss rightfully suspended her child minding license then told her she could be re-instated if her criminal husband wasn't present during child minding. None of this is unreasonable in fact it is morethwas an reasonable since you know A CHILDS ARM WAS BROKEN but apparently this makes sw uncaring bastards?

  2. then we've had a midwife shouting at a social worker because she was justly asking questions about why a mother would abandon her baby. The real world doesn't work that way, you can't dump a baby then a week later ask for it back and expect it to go home.

The whole attitude from the characters seems to be that social workers are being unfair and it's driving me insane, because actually the incidents which have required intervention are actually really serious.

Chippednailvarnishing · 01/06/2016 21:06

I think I preferred Jas when she was trying to figure out who the father was!

BertieBotts · 01/06/2016 21:11

Exactly! And why does nobody have any other friends except the other mums?

BertieBotts · 01/06/2016 21:13

YY about social workers.

The whole series is a bit dark with death looming everywhere. But they are treating it all really lightly, it's bizarre.

Do you think Simon's father is dead and that's why the police were there or is it just because he was injured?

Chippednailvarnishing · 01/06/2016 21:14

Probably because they're all so fucking annoying!

Maxine is growing on me though.

MargotLovedTom · 01/06/2016 21:16

I was thinking that when I was watching it. Have they all ditched any previous friends they had?

I'm a horrible bitch for saying this but I think Roanna looks like an old man, and I would love to chop that wispy hair off and give her a pixie cut.

Chippednailvarnishing · 01/06/2016 21:19

I'm loving Simon claiming he's an adult whilst buggering off and leaving his kid.

MargotLovedTom · 01/06/2016 21:20

Ah I feel awful now. She's a great actor, and I release the character was going through abhitbtume so was meant to look careworn.

MargotLovedTom · 01/06/2016 21:22

.....a shit time... that should be.

It felt like a whole better different programme when focusing on Roanna, Simon and family.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/06/2016 21:43

It's an entirely different class of acting except for Ray when the focus is on Roanna.

Though running over the dad was ridiculous

AndYourBirdCanSing · 01/06/2016 21:55

Yes she's the only good actor out of the group of friends. I'm only watching to see what happens to her character.

It's a shame as I really enjoyed the first series

dylsmimi · 01/06/2016 22:14

margot I agree - all that smug typing from Kim about looking out for your mates and they haven't once seem to show any interest in their family - a young girl and her boyfriend with 2 kids on the 7th floor!

MargotLovedTom · 01/06/2016 22:18

It's annoying me so much!

NeedACleverNN · 01/06/2016 22:25

Last one next week

Can't get any worse.....can it?

kinkytoes · 01/06/2016 22:28

Last one next week

Thank God. Watching this is a little bit like self-flagellation.

Why do I do it??

CestLaVie93 · 01/06/2016 22:29

It's such crap. I didn't watch the first series but now I have a baby & have a need to watch anything remotely baby orientated (I love OBEM) I've been watching series 2. I can't even cope with how rubbish the acting/script is but I can't stop watching. Really bizarre! Grin

Chippednailvarnishing · 01/06/2016 22:32

The first series was far more exciting - adultery, bank robbery, cougar pregnancy. This series is all pizza deliveries and illicit child minding Grin

BertieBotts · 01/06/2016 22:35

Yes! "I'm thirty next year you know!" with the air of a five year old saying "I'll be six in eight days you know!"

I meant to say as well I was also Shock at the party invitation handing out and general gossiping in the court room. I'm surprised the judge didn't throw them all out.
