Good luck jen and ilove with the appraisals I hate all that sort of thing, fortunately my appraisal at the surgery was a coffee and a chat! It's been one year since I started (with stag pants!)

orphan lucky you going away for half term, I'm working and the boys have revision for tests, seems a bit unfair for them, but I'm sure they will find time to get up to mischief!

nickel my suggestion would be a bottle of booze, champagne is perfect, who doesn't like fizz!!! And there are so many good supermarket offers on the special high end brands at the moment.

I'm sporting a lump/spot under my eye on the thin bit of skin. I've tried to pick it and now I have what looks like a bruised eye and now it's swollen and puffy! Attractive!

pixieg1rl · 10/02/2016 19:16

I'm sure breakfast with a certain captain would involve a fair bit of protein Blush, but yes, some kind of fizz sounds good for your situation nickel.

I think my boss is pretty ambivalent about appraisals, unfortunately his boss isn't. The joy of being micromanaged by proxy...

Oh dear rich, that doesn't sound like a good look. Any mileage in layering on the concealer?

Ilovelblue · 10/02/2016 19:29

My cats don't give a stuff about appraisals, just when they will get fed next!

Ha pixie if you could see me now in my fetching trackie bottoms teamed with a shrunken bobbly jumper, having just scrubbed the shower, I don't think 'glamour' would be the first word to spring to mind!

Can hardly believe richtea that it's been a year since you started your job!

I'm off to Siena and Florence ilove. I've been to Florence several times before but never Siena despite it being close, so really looking forward to it.

Of course, I'm only just allowed back in the country after the unfortunate incident with the carabinieri and the salami during mine and woof's Tuscan road trip a few years ago. And I think Michaelangelo's David still bears the scars from woof's close inspection.

Ilovelblue · 10/02/2016 20:22

Richtea you and I would make an attractive pair at the moment by your description. I had a raft of coldsores on my top lip and just down from my nose last week and on Saturday, I was blowing my nose so much that I ended up with two really big scabs. I looked as if somebody had punched me in the face. On Monday, everyone was kind enough not to comment but for some reason on Tuesday, gentlemanly manners went out of the window and I was asked about seven times what I had done to my face. There didn't seem much point in trying to cover them up - I think it would have made them look even worse.

pixie and Jen my boss knows he has to go through the motions with appraisals but off the record, I know he is as disillusioned about the whole process as anyone else.

KellyHb · 10/02/2016 20:38

Evening all. Oo yes hope all the appraisals go well. I'm musing to myself, imagine if the kids had to do an appraisal on me. I don't think I would want to know. Shock

jen good Intel on SH. Apparently he went to Murrayfields to watch Scotland play rugby on the weekend as well. It sounds like you're feeling better too. Smile

pix my parents could come round but they pretty much let the twins run around riot and not really watch them. My Mam still gets very tired so she wouldn't be doing much getting up and down. I remember once coming in from somewhere and the boys had got my nail varnish and opened it but at the last minute they realised and took it off the boys. Thank God!

MaddieMoo82 · 10/02/2016 22:10

Blimey that could have been messy kelly! When my parents were away on holiday a few years back I tripped over carrying some open nail varnish and spilt it all over the carpet...Shock my dad saw right through the cunningly repositioned sofa within minutes of getting home!

pixieg1rl · 10/02/2016 22:17

I'd never leave DS alone with my parents, they just wouldn't cope, plus he'd be off riding up & down on their stairlift the minute we left.

Nickel45 · 10/02/2016 22:18

rhu love your new story xx
(Quick pop in ... :))

pixieg1rl · 10/02/2016 22:32

Ooh yes, new rhu story to read, and as its not OG I won't be breaking my self imposed ban by reading it.

In other news Sean Ward really needs to put a shirt on, his Instagram feed is very distracting

Nickel45 · 10/02/2016 23:46

Well, pix, as this thread is about Our Girl, and given he was in it, I think you are duty bound to post them on here for us all to see (specially as I have no idea how to get on instagram!) Wink

Nickel45 · 10/02/2016 23:47

Thank you all for your suggestions for pressies ... Sounds like bubbly it is :)

Rhubarb01 · 11/02/2016 07:16

Morning ladies. Just popping in briefly before work to say thank you for the kind comments about the new story. It was a bit of a nervous moment breaking out of the OG comfort bubble and trying something new so I really appreciate you reading and commenting. Thank you.

It's just getting light but it looks like it's going to be a fine, sunny and frosty morning so I think I'm going to try the refreshing (otherwise known as 'bracing') long walk to work and back so that I can feel extra virtuous - and use it as an excuse to eat that extra piece of cake! Have a good day everyone.

Ilovelblue · 11/02/2016 08:24

Morning all. Sunny and frosty here too. Can't walk to work really - 8 miles away - but some very pleasant walks to be had around work at lunchtime.

Lovely first chapter Rhubarb and also a great update from Painted. I rather like that CJ's halo may have tarnished a little there.

KellyHb · 11/02/2016 09:20

Morning all.

Frosty and sunny here too. I'm waiting for a friend to arrive as we're going to a Toby Carvery breakfast. The thought of it is worrying where you can have endless amounts of the breakfast you want but I'll try and be strict with myself plus the waistline on these trousers aren't very forgiving

I remember riding up and down on my Grandma's strairlift years ago pix, even though it was extremely slow.

rhu ill start your story this afternoon. I need to get organised to get back into reading again.

Have a nice morning all.

MaddieMoo82 · 11/02/2016 09:38

Morning all!
Loved your first chapter rhub, can't wait to read more and it's satisfying my JA FF addiction perfectly.
kelly go elasticated with your waistband and enjoy your breakfast. I have breakfast envy again.
Gorgeous here so off for a walk. Will miss this when I'm back at work!

Nickel45 · 11/02/2016 11:56

Morning - I haven't caught up on here yet (in work, deadlines, aaaagh!) but just needed to say there is a new Harry Potter book out later in the year. WAHAY!!!!!!! Although, I can't read HP any more without thinking about Laurielove's ffs ..... hopefully she'll write some more (and more OG to go with the new series laurielove, if you're reading this!). Back to the grindstone!

cjwoofwoof · 11/02/2016 16:41

I heard about the new Harry Potter book Nick I believe it's release coincides with the stage show version.

By the way orph I hope you've got a passport and EHIC card for Tuscany as Italian immigration will need to see you've been given the all clear by the clinic after that last encounter you had with the dodgy salami on our All YOu Can Eat that's Italian Tour. Dont think I've forgotten about the Aldo Zilli incident either!

KellyHb · 11/02/2016 17:20

I've got to be honest and admit I've not read any of the Harry Potter books or seen the films. When they're on the TV I try to catch one but always end up being waylaid doing something else.

I was good and didn't stuff myself at breakfast mads even though it would be easy too. They had Yorkshire puddings out which I've never thought of having for breakfast Hmm. If there's a Toby near anyone, I would recommend going. Quite cheap too.

The kids have been using my last nerve since I picked DD up from school. Thinking of putting my headphones in and listening to music until tea's ready. Not looking forward to next week!

MaddieMoo82 · 11/02/2016 18:05

Yorkshire puddings at breakfast?! Good restraint kelly I don't think I would be able to be so controlled Wink
Excited for HP book! And love laurielove but have to be honest can't read her Harry Potter/captain hook stuff... It's just a bit too far for me Confused
Must go the joy of the bedtime routine awaits.....

pixieg1rl · 11/02/2016 20:20

I'm an absolute glutton for Yorkshires, but I don't know how I feel about them for breakfast. In my younger slobbier days I was known to east bread & butter pudding for breakfast, I rationalised it by saying it was like scrambled eggs on toast with raisins. These days breakfast is a coffee from Pret Confused

I hope everyone's appraisals went ok, I've bought mine home to do when I'm on leave next week; I see it as motivation not to spend a minute longer on it as necessary.

Nickel45 · 11/02/2016 20:27

Think I'll be finding myself a Toby grill, sounds fab! I sometimes have apple crumble for breakfast, if there's any left, coz it's only fruit and granola, isn't it!?! I've done bread and butter pudding for breakfast too, pix! Yum

MaddieMoo82 · 11/02/2016 21:04

I want crumble now!!

pixieg1rl · 11/02/2016 21:06

I'm stuffed to the gills with curry, but I want crumble too!

Onlygirljen · 11/02/2016 21:09

Appraisal over and done with thanks pix, was every bit as long and painful as I thought it would be. Over for now at least! Good luck with your form.

I've been known to eat cold pizza as an acceptable breakfast, yet can't stomach the thought of a Yorkshire..
