TH's character seemed to be one of those posh boys that walks around with a look of marginal bewilderment on his face; like he's not entirely sure his feet belong to him or something.

I do like Hugh Laurie, he can do menacing very well, and it looks like he's got plenty of scope for it in this. I'd watch Olivia Coleman read the phone book and Tom Hollander's character got the best lines but looks like he misses nothing, so I'm watching this for them really

cjwoofwoof · 23/02/2016 15:24

Obvs we need to up your medication pix if you're watching the wrong TH Confused

kel my cracks have been well and truly smoothed over this afternoon thanks to The Two Ruperts, they float like pro's for sure Grin

apsara03 · 23/02/2016 16:51

kelly this is probably akin to teaching grandma to suck eggs but I remember reading that for prem babies you should count from their due date rather than actual birth date to. Which school year would that put them in?
As with any institution, teachers get conditioned and can be resistant to doing things differently, so you really need to go with your instinct. Maybe check out people's thoughts on a prem forum?

Keep your TH, I suspect SW would be good at plastering my nooks and crannies

He looks like he would very serious and dedicated to the cause pixie.

Very very glad today is over! On the plus side I definately eaten far less biscuits than I would normally over the last 10 months so hopefully trousers will be less tight soon!! Grin

MaddieMoo82 · 23/02/2016 19:21

kelly JN and his hair look amazing in that picture! Smile

Ilovelblue · 23/02/2016 19:22

So you survived the first day back Maddie? Did it feel as if you'd never been away? Hope Mr Maddie has pulled his weight today as well.

Going to watch my usual Tuesday Holby then will see if The Night Manager floats my boat.

MaddieMoo82 · 23/02/2016 19:47

No ilove MrMads has flu and has been in bed since sunday.

But after an hour it was just the same as before I left just lots of new faces and felt pretty rusty. One annoying busy body who told me she was shocked I was prepared to leave DS for 4 days each week... 'Your poor ds' were her exact words. Grrrr. Anyho it's nearly weds!!

Nice to log in and see some more og news and read a nice update from greenstuff. Think I'll have to wait with night manager till later in the week unfortunately as intrigued to see what it's like.

BK28 · 23/02/2016 20:33

Evening ladies, survived the skiing but came back and had an awful week full of the lurgy! Currently blaming the airport and strangers!! Glad to see that Half term was survived. Have been really good and actually read the past weeks misifs... wow what a world we live in.
And who said that we live in an imaginary world on here.. No Way!! Although my counsellor has said that some escapism is good for you!!

Thanks to all you amazing ff writers who are still coming up with the goods, where would we be without you all!
Oh pix it was painted who put the CJ as PM in On Her Majesty's Service out there! Throwing out a challenge only two more new stories needed and we will have hit 300!!

Kel don't worry about your little boys - I have an August boy who according to all the reports should have failed at everything - left year 13 with 3 A's at A level, in top 10 of his year group, now on a Masters in Engineering - saying that has just managed to blow some of this semesters exams, but that is just a 20 year old learning to juggle life! We were lucky enough to have an Easter start at school, but he was in f/t nursery up until then, so could have started sooner. As mentioned by aspara I am also a big fan of Steve Biddulph's Raising Boys - lots of sound info which helps you see boys in a different way - found it took the pressure off me!

Jen so glad to hear that the job situation is safe ... now you can breathe again!! At least for now!! Flowers We have been informed that we are up for restructuring again, but that is local govt for you!

rich haven't forgotten info I promised you, will email soon - hope the house has survived half term.. LOL!!

Now catching up totally ...with you all the way nickel re Shetland, actually spent Friday doing a binge catch up. Can only conclude that Shetland looks lovely in the sunshine, but is really a very long way to visit from Bath and I don't do ferries! Meanwhile TNM is very bondesque, but why does TH have to have that permanent expression of angst on his face.
and W&P sorry JN does not do it for me, plus feel cheated out of all those hours.. now know why I hadn't read it!!

Loved the Turkish Bath stories.. glad my spa experience wasn't in that league .. ilove solved the issue of hours of prep I have swimwear with long shorts, nearly makes me look athletic!

Hope all is going well with the back to work thing Mads

moojangles · 23/02/2016 20:45

You've all been busy today! Mads well survived and well-tolerated. Great to hear about OG news and am looking forward to TNM, when I can get near the tv. Reading week next week, not sure I'll be putting ff as what I am currently reading!

Ilovelblue · 23/02/2016 21:25

Just started watching TNM. I can see what you mean about Tom Hiddleston but at first glance, he reminds me of Ian Waite from Strictly!

My smoke alarm has been bleeping all night and it's one where you can't change the batteries. The fire brigade fitted it about four years ago and assured me it would last ten years. I didn't think I could make a 999 call for a bleeping alarm, nice though it would be for a load of firemen to turn up at the door. When I got the stepladder out to see what make it was (in the hope that Google could help) I realised there was a "reset" button, so I've hit that with an umbrella and it seems to have stopped.

apsara03 · 24/02/2016 06:56

Started watching TNM too. Beautifully shot, well acted and TH looks v much the Bond. Was OC's character's phone number a deliberate play on 007? Just struggling to believe that an ex army officer would become a night manager even if it is in super swanky hotels? And wouldn't managers all work shifts so go some nights rather than one person always working nights?

Ilovelblue · 24/02/2016 08:24

I questioned that in my own mind as well apsara. I always think of night staff in hotels nodding off at the reception desk - apologies if anyone reading this is in the hotel industry. TH's character didn't seem the falling asleep on the job type.

Very frosty here this morning. Need to go and scrape the car windscreen.

pixieg1rl · 24/02/2016 10:13

Nickel, have you read the Shetland thread on here? Lots of love for the big beardy artist man who fancies Tosh.

KellyHb · 24/02/2016 10:46

Morning all

Lovely sunny day here. Just been to the tip to stop off some bits and bobs after I had a general sort round at the weekend.

Feel asleep last night on the settee so didn't get to post or do much. I've yet more ironing to do.

Thanks BK apsara for the kids info. Hope you feel better soon too BK

I've not watched Shetland yet but I hope Ciaran Hinds is good in it.

cjwoofwoof · 24/02/2016 11:05

Not into Shetland this series, saw the first series but couldnt get into second so avoided this one. Liking Happy Valley though. Sarah Lancashire is brilliant. And Shannara Chronicles starts this Thursday - cant wait to see Manu in leather once again Grin

DH being a bellend today, saying I'm keeping The Two Ruperts talking too much and stopping them from working. I told him they've been doing a great job of pebbledashing my interior walls when he's not around to spoil things, but he still wasn't impressed Angry

Nickel45 · 24/02/2016 11:19

Just had to google to find out who Ciaran Hinds was (!) and turns out he is the big beady artist man! Not in the slightest fanciable for me - reminds me too much of my dad!! I haven't seen the thread on here pix, will have a look when I'm not in work (obviously googling Ciaran Hinds is much more appropriate at work!!!?!?!).

pixieg1rl · 24/02/2016 11:25

No Ciaran Hinds was the (spoiler alert) one who got shot. Beardy man was the artist who makes a living drawing roadkill (and is quite sweet in a socially inept way)

Nickel45 · 24/02/2016 11:37

Oh THAT one! Just spent 5 minutes trying to remember if there was an artist who drew roadkill! He was completely off my radar ..... !!!! Now I'm going to have to watch again to try and spot him! I did think CH wasn't very artisty but he was with an arty woman, wasn't he? Think I'm a bear of very little brain this morning. CH had a beard too ... that's what confused me maybe?!

And back to work ........

Richtea19 · 24/02/2016 11:45

I love Shetland although i have to really concentrate to understand the accent! Main character is so softly spoken too, it must me my age!!

Did wonder about TH being a night manager after being in the forces, maybe more will evolve on that. I get the Ian Waite connection too!!!

Sitting in the dentist waiting room, feeling very scared. Sad

Ilovelblue · 24/02/2016 12:07

Scared of the cost, or scared of the pain Richtea?

Richtea19 · 24/02/2016 13:13

The pain!!
Back home, I had a cracked tooth which then led to tooth ache. Thankfully not because of grinding! I'll leave that to woof!! Temp filling until it's settled down and then back in a couple of weeks. No cost as I'm in Denplan, thankfully!!!

KellyHb · 24/02/2016 13:42

Glad dentist wasnt too bad rich. I'll be scared on Friday when I have to go.

Yes Ciaran Hinds is a random bloke to sometimes like the look of but I think I mean more 10 years ago. Shock

Boys are playing with tractors and I'm waiting for the inevitable fight over the same one even though theyve got one each. I'm watching them drinking tea and eating a naughty square of chocolate Smile

KellyHb · 24/02/2016 13:49

Yip inevitable fight has begun. It took all of 2 minutes Angry

pixieg1rl · 24/02/2016 14:05

I just saw a video a friend posted on FB of 2 babies (possibly twins) sitting next to each other one with a dummy, one without. One without steals dummy, now dummyless baby cries and steals dummy back...and it goes on. She thought it was cute; I thought it was the stuff of nightmares and then I thought of you kelly and your twins.

Maybe upgrade that square of chocolate to a shot of vodka?
