Evening all! Hope everyone's ok.

2 days into work and I'm already lost in a haze of sorting, organising and cooking. Actual work is good but finding trying to get everything and everyone else organised a bit of a nightmare. Currently cooking a shepherds pie for tomorrows nights tea but just want to sleep!

richtea hope your ok after your dentist trip and kelly hope yours goes ok Friday. Also hope the boys settled and your afternoon was not too stressful.

woof think I need the numbers of your 2 ruperts. Need some work done to my bathroom plumbing and they sound perfect.

Woah, shepherds pie mid week is very ambitious mads, pasta and pesto is your friend.

No idea how I'll watch Outlander yet Kelly I may have to wait until Amazon Prime stream it.

Evening all. I fell asleep earlier - must have been out for the count for at least 40 mins. I think I need an early night. I seem to be getting to bed later and later these days.

Maddie not sure if it's a useful tip or not, but I often make a big batch of shepherd's pie base and then freeze it in several containers and pull them out as I need them so that there's just the mashed potato to put on. Seems to save a bit of space in the freezer as well (mine is always jammed full).

I would love to have a go at making Shepherds Pie. One day.

Do you want my recipe Kelly? It's so easy and freezes well.

Mad I'd also add into the freezer menu plan chilli and bolognaise then all you need to do is microwave and cook the pasta/rice. And advanced spag bol is the lasagne. One way of achieving it is when you cook the meal double it up and then freeze it - but you know this!!

mads making shepherds pie midweek is a quick route to insanity! I find the slow cooker is my friend, drop it all in, leave it to cook all day and voila. I second pixies pasta and pesto suggestion. Or pasta and Philadelphia (what my boys refer to as Mac and cheese, if only they knew how I was short changing them ).

Doesn't Outlander come onto Amazon prime in April? Trying to convince Mr J that we need it, but we've not long subscribed to Netflix so he's not going for it.

Weekend batch cooking is one method to keep on top of things mads; or just make huge quantities of what you are having at the weekend and freeze the extra portions.

I tend to do big loads off curry, or freeze toad in the hole leftovers etc (then just zap in the microwave- you hole is a bit soggy, but I hear that woof's Ruperts don't mind a soggy hole ). I also make my own pesto (DS's allergies) which can be bulked out with whatever crap you can find like peas, broad beans etc. Pesto actually freezes well so a big batch can last months.

Ditto Jen. We've just had Sky put in so there's no way DH would agree to Amazon Prime. I could sneakiky subscribe but I've got whacking great dentist bills coming so that idea's potentially out. I don't think I could wait until it comes out on DVD though. I need to think of a way.

Off to see a friend in a moment who tripped over a kerb last month and broke her foot so she's sitting at home fed up. Bless her.

Had my appraisal this afternoon. Should have been tomorrow but my boss has to go to a client site so at least it meant I had no time to worry about it. Total waste of time as usual. Just a tick in a box.

Evening all. Thanks for the dinner advice ladies. Will definitely not be repeating the shepherds pie next week! It tasted lovely but a bit too much effort for a week night. Will try and cook some stuff At the weekend and more pasta etc next week.
