Grin

Lucy let my 4 year old complete her wallpaper challenge.

GrouchyKiwi · 09/02/2016 19:41

I'm not sure Lucy knows what classy and elegant means. That chandelier!

GetSchwifty · 09/02/2016 19:42

The chandelier, so awful!

FelicityLemon · 09/02/2016 19:46

Mmm a saucer with some flock wallpaper stuck on, not exactly upcycling ...

FelicityLemon · 09/02/2016 19:49

The chandelier is not exactly elegant, though weirdly the judges seem to like it.

Touchacat · 09/02/2016 19:53

Hate that blue room! Looked so much better before IMO. Quite like the owl light though...Grin

SingSongSlummy · 09/02/2016 19:55

I liked Lucy's chandelier. Did you see Rob's awful blue curtains - they were too short as well!

IonaMumsnet · 09/02/2016 19:56

Reckon Angelica's for the chop this time.

GrouchyKiwi · 09/02/2016 20:08

Lucy's room looked nice overall, but was too busy, and I still hated the chandelier and challenge piece.

I loved the orange in Angelica's room (and might even use similar in my lounge) but I'm not surprised she is going. Again her colour scheme was boring.

Rob's looked good but I'd have loved some gold curtains with red tie backs or similar.

dillite · 09/02/2016 20:30

I am so incredibly jealous of those rooms! If you own a house with such lovely rooms, fancy swapping for a tiny, wonky and damp semi? It's near a park!

I really liked the blue in the blue room, although I wasn't keen on how it looked on the doors/ frames. Agree it was lacking in more gold.

Angelica and her wallpaper ceilings- what the hell was she thinking? And only some of the ceiling was papered as well. It will be a bitch to get off. Her colour scheme was lacking- especially when you see her own house and how daring it is in terms of colours. Also her coffee table, whilst having extra storage inside, looked like a grey coffin. Very cheap grey coffin.

Lucy's room was OK. I liked the shelves, but hated how she re-upholstered the sofa's. A plain colour would have been much nicer IMO, in a beautiful rich fabric.

Do the homeowners get paid for their appearances?

dillite · 09/02/2016 20:38

The blue room needed more accessories and colour in it, I think. Something like these rooms, just to break it up a bit more.

They aren't very good are they? All that blue was awful, the curtains were awful, the peeved owl was nice but how many lamps is he going to make?

I don't know why Angelica was so afraid to use colour, as dillite says, her own home wasnt exactly neutral.

SingSongSlummy · 09/02/2016 20:42

Grouchy if you like orange, keep watching for a couple of weeks. ...

dellite I can confirm that the homeowners do not get paid!

SwedishEdith · 09/02/2016 20:43

Hmm, yes, like that first photo of that blue room - the one with lots of pictures. I think the shade of blue he used wasn't quite right. And with the floor, it looked like a student's room. Also, the finish always looks a bit ropey - and that's on tv. So, in real life it must look a bit crap.

catwithflowers · 09/02/2016 20:54

Ha Slummy. We know who to watch for now!!! And you have hinted several times you weren't totally sold on your renovation Grin. Have you redecorated yet? Wink

annandale · 09/02/2016 20:58

I wouldn't expect the homeowners to get paid, but I would expect some kind of deal that they will put it back the way it was for nothing. I guess not since a lot of furniture seems to get sliced in half in this programme Confused

DH and I loved all the 'before' rooms in this programme and all the 'after' rooms were awful. I agree that Angelica isn't very confident - I wonder if all her family piled in and told her not to decorate the way she does at home, or something. I would throttle somebody who surprised me with textured wallpaper on my ceiling. Lucy half killed herself making some really 'meh' stuff that had nothing to do with the brief, and I thought that Beardy's blue mausoleum was like someone who'd learned how to do interior design from a badly photocopied pamphlet. Absolutely hated the cheap and nasty glass ornaments that had been sprayed with dark grey paint to look like cheap and nasty plastic ornaments - reminded me of an old sword and shield set we got for 5 year old ds.

catwithflowers · 09/02/2016 20:59

I think Lucy was better tonight but she does like to fill rooms with junk interesting objects!! Her room layout worked well even though I wasn't keen on the modern look in a Georgian town house. I would be far too scared to let strangers into my home with their brushes and wacky ideas!! I think a certain mumsnetter here is incredibly brave Smile

SingSongSlummy · 09/02/2016 21:02

Well cat I did see all the rooms on our road. ...

They did slice up something of mine too - when I said they could do stuff to the furniture, I thought they meant painting/reupholstering....

SingSongSlummy · 09/02/2016 21:03

Ha, cross posted! Brave, or stupid maybe!

ijustwannadance · 09/02/2016 21:08

Blue room was just too much.
I also have an irrational hatred for the female presenter's clothes. Especially the orange tights she had on yesterday.

dillite · 09/02/2016 21:12

So how do they get you to participate then, Slummy? I would need a very big £££ incentive to let them into my home.

SingSongSlummy · 09/02/2016 21:18

I guess the incentive is having the chance to get a room totally changed!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 09/02/2016 21:23

That owl had an appropriate 'wtf' look on his face.

Cocolepew · 09/02/2016 21:26

What on earth would you have done with the wallpaper challenge? That was very hard.

annandale · 09/02/2016 21:28

I agree wallpaper very hard - none of them had a scheme that really allowed for it, though the blue room was closest. In the blue thing I would have cut out the blue pattern and tried to use it as a self-coloured decoration over a doorway. In Lucy's room I might have tried to wallpaper a pelmet maybe? In Angelica's almost anything would have been better than that textured stuff - maybe a lampshade?
