Holly no problem - I can quite see how it doesn't appeal to some people - luckily the furnishings are lovely and when I can be arsed,I'll paint out a couple of walls!

I definitely need to name change - wanders off to find an actual PC....

hollyisalovelyname · 06/03/2016 01:25

MissTurnstiles both Orla and Oliver are Irish.

Fontella · 06/03/2016 08:17

Strange how we all see different things.

I don't think Sophie has a great fashion style at all. Clashing colours, wearing upholstery tassles in her ears, at one stage she wore a pair of multi-coloured plastic earring that would have done Pat Butcher proud.

Occasionally she looked nice but most of the time I just thought her outfits were odd.

Slummy Grin

Fontella Aah but Soph is ,like, a fashion victim, int' she? innit? Dahn wiv the yoofs innit? Grin

SmellySourdough · 06/03/2016 18:52

I'm sure I've seen (and heard) anne before. but where?

hollyisalovelyname · 06/03/2016 22:04

I thought Anne had a really soft sweet voice.
I still can't believe how underwhelming the final was and how that poor woman's home was destroyed by the winner.

absolutelynotfabulous · 06/03/2016 22:05

I thought Anne was Mrs Merton in a black wigGrin ie Mrs Merton as in "what do you see in the millionaire Paul Daniels, Debbie Mcgee?"

Same voice, same accent.

Davros · 06/03/2016 23:09

Anne has that insubstantial, high pitched tone to her voice just like Sarah Millican (unless she's shouting).

was she on 'come dine with me' or '4 in a bed' or similar programme?

Fontella · 07/03/2016 00:16

I agree, there was something familiar about Anne. Not sure if I've seen her before on something or if she just reminded me of someone, either on telly or real life.

ppeatfruit · 07/03/2016 09:47

I thought that Anne modelled herself on Kate Bush (the same bird's nest hair and lipstick). She couldn't 'do' the body but meh!

Fontella · 07/03/2016 10:17

She also broke into 'Wuthering Heights' or something at one point I think!

Grin

I recall her warbling and dancing across the lawn in one of the episodes.

I liked Anne. I was rather surprised she got as far as she did, but she was was fun.

ppeatfruit · 07/03/2016 11:50

Yes me too Grin it was the one which she didn't through on I think.

MissTurnstiles · 08/03/2016 21:23

I'm quite bereft now that it's over. any suggestions for something similar which might fill the hole?

DoreenLethal · 08/03/2016 21:26

Some tarmac?

SmellySourdough · 08/03/2016 21:27

I like the show for some inspiration on how not to decorate

Fontella · 08/03/2016 21:33

I miss it too.

It was good to have three hours of early (7pm) early week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), self indulgent, pretentious telly.

Not impressed with the actual designs, nothing really jumped out at me and made me think I'd love to do that in my own home - but I still loved watching it. More the whole process of what they went through to get past each round and also how daft some of the 'designs' actually were. I think maybe two rooms throughout the whole series actually impressed me .. but I still enjoyed the whole series, loved to see the houses, the rooms, the contestants ... and long may it continue!

GrouchyKiwi · 08/03/2016 21:36

I like watching it because I find it fascinating to see the way the rooms pull together (for the most part...) at the end.

I'm missing watching it. Put on Daniel Deronda tonight and am enjoying the set and costume design so have decided that's a good replacement.

annandale · 08/03/2016 21:43

I'm enjoying The People Vs O J Simpson - not at all similar but it's great starspotting and a nice chunky ten episodes so it fills a gap.

I also love the interiors and clothes in Spin Blush

PotteryPotKnobs · 09/03/2016 13:58

I've dug out Series 2 on the iplayer and am watching that. It's remarkable just how, in the space of a year, that everything has changed. The format, the delivery and the clothes - especially Daniel's trousers!

member · 11/03/2016 23:10

Didn't realise there was an ultimate secrets Great Interior D C on this evening till it was more than halfway through. Doubt it'll be as entertaining as the competition but on iPlayer for those who missed it.

Yes I discovered it half way through as well member Grin I'm recording it.
