I haven't a clue what steampunk is, evenBlush.

annandale · 03/02/2016 22:54

TBH I think they should double the budget. There really isn't very much they can do except slap a bit of paint on the wall and move the furniture around and torture charity shop tables

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 03/02/2016 22:54

Oh that cake is something else. Have a look abfab Grin Steampunk is sort of industrial fantasy with a Victorian twist.

absolutelynotfabulous · 03/02/2016 23:03

Not at all pretentious, lois. I saw that cake, so your description kind of makes sense.

Haven't seen the programme yet, though. Although I gather Frankie has got through?

ijustwannadance · 03/02/2016 23:16

When I think of steampunk I get the image of doc brown at the end of back to the future 3 on his steam train time machine with his family dressed all vintage Grin

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 03/02/2016 23:25

I think Doc Brown is probably a big inspiration! Yes Frankie got through. Holly did ok but nothing special either. They need pinterest I think!

absolutelynotfabulous · 04/02/2016 08:22

Catching up now! Holly's is rather....restrained. And the sage greens etc are completely opposite to her previous colours.

Mmm....

Frankie's is more adventurous.

annandale · 05/02/2016 06:39

One thing I really noticed was that Holly seemed horrible to her team and Frankie seemed to be a lot friendlier. I'm not sure Holly dealt with the stress that well.

absolutelynotfabulous · 05/02/2016 08:00

Oh yes! Holly was very angsty. You could almost hear her team's eyes rolling, particularly over the light bulbs! That look on the builder's face when the hook gave way and the light bulb crashed to the floor was priceless.

dillite · 05/02/2016 21:59

Just watched all 3 episodes- Holly was such a cow in all 3 of them! She was like Pinstrosity personified. Too much going on with too little attention to detail IMO. I'm glad Frankie went through even though I hated his last room- but that in a room that big you would need double the budget to do the whole steampunk thing properly.

I am looking forward to the next week.

Kitsandkids · 05/02/2016 22:48

Has the format changed a bit. I thought last time in the first few rounds they just chose 1 person out of the 4 to stay, then went on to quarter finals, then semi finals then finals? Or have they always had to get through 3 'heats' before moving on?

annandale · 06/02/2016 05:28

Yes the format has definitely changed. Not sure how many weeks of the first round there will be. i quite like this format as by the end we will know the competitors' style quite well i think.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 06/02/2016 06:04

Well I'm guessing it will four rounds of the knock out heats, to get four quarterfinalists to start "finals week" then finals week will be three episodes with one leaving each day leaving 2 in the final.

I liked holly in the first challenge all though she seemed to be going on it was a "little girl's" room it was all a bit pink and preteeny rather than the more grown up room I think the girl was hoping for. But I really disliked her in the second episode, she didn't seem to care that she was upsetting the clients. And then what I didn't really get was she used exactly the colours and the design details that she'd slagged off in the second house in the third one! I was just like you've just called all of what your doing boring and dated to the clients face then your using it and calling contemporary and sophisticated.

Davros · 06/02/2016 12:20

I thought that about Holly's third room being exactly the style and colours she had slagged off!

absolutelynotfabulous · 06/02/2016 14:04

davros I thought that, too. But at least she stuck to the brief..

SingSongSlummy · 07/02/2016 20:00

I think it's three weeks of knockouts - the final week is first week of March.

dillite · 08/02/2016 19:37

Anyone watching tonight? There don't seem to be too many utterly out there ideas yet. And I rather like that wallpaper.

Well, no terrible ideas except for the teenage boys room.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/02/2016 19:47

I quite like some of the new furniture in Rob's room.

The milk crate test is horrible.

A bit scared of that wallpaper, to be honest.

dillite · 08/02/2016 19:49

That lampshade was absolutely horrible.

dillite · 08/02/2016 19:50

Oh dear. I had such high hopes for Sarah's room but that dirty blue has nothing to do with any of the wallpaper colours. Or that wood furniture.

Touchacat · 08/02/2016 19:51

Yep horrible lampshade. Not sure what I think of that room tbh.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/02/2016 19:53

The lampshade was terrible.

I thought the blue was utterly lovely with the wallpaper but there was far too much of the paper. It certainly isn't calming.

Boy's room is too much.

dillite · 08/02/2016 19:53

I do not like those neon under lights, but overall the teenager's room is rather good I have to say. Love that floor, it looks very good painted black.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/02/2016 19:54

Sarah to go, I think.

dillite · 08/02/2016 19:54

I think so too.
