It's quite a commitment. Grin It's on but i am not sure. I thought that it was Will from the Inbetweeners but it isn't. Grin

TwatTheNinja · 03/01/2016 21:12

I'm watching and recording, so far it seems good Smile

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2016 21:13

Aww Ade Edmonson.

MajesticSeaFlapFlap · 03/01/2016 21:20

It's like posh brit boy bingo.

LineyReborn · 03/01/2016 21:21

That one from Downton is a bit pants.

littlecupcake · 03/01/2016 21:24

I'm lost already.

I also thought it was wassisname from the Inbetweeners!

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2016 21:27

Thanks cupcake. I now think it should have been him from the Inbetweeners. Grin

I am not fully concentrating now.

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2016 21:31

I love the interfering mother character, played by Rebecca thingie, who we just watched in Billionaire Boy Grin.

Bit lost with the story as I don't know the period and haven't read the book, but it's a fabulous thing to look at, gorgeous costumes and sets.

Theknacktoflying · 03/01/2016 21:41

I want to like it, but the dialogue just seems so false and far too bright and shiny ....

thenightsky · 03/01/2016 21:41

Trying. Not sure I'm going to be able to stick with this.

littlecupcake · 03/01/2016 21:47

Haha sparkling That's him!

absolutelynotfabulous · 03/01/2016 21:47

Trying but failing! Thought that was Ade Edmondson.

Anyone remember Anthony Hopkins as Pierre in the 70s version?

LineyReborn · 03/01/2016 21:47

Has this been edited by my cat?

absolutelynotfabulous · 03/01/2016 21:48

Who's the Downton dude?

LineyReborn · 03/01/2016 21:50

The Natasha / Rose one. There may be more from Downton.

namelessposter · 03/01/2016 21:54

posh boy Brit bingo snort Grin

minsmum · 03/01/2016 21:59

It's awful

absolutelynotfabulous · 03/01/2016 22:00

Oh Lily wotsit. Liking Pierre but can't get a grip on the other characters (note to self to read book).

thenightsky · 03/01/2016 22:00

Scuse my history knowledge, but... why did Napoleon think it was a good idea to take on a country the size of Russia? And do so after travelling bloody miles over Europe to get there in the first place?

LineyReborn · 03/01/2016 22:01

The battle scenes were good. The rest of it - oh Lord where do I start?

Palomb · 03/01/2016 22:01

I quite enjoyed it tbh!

mudandmayhem01 · 03/01/2016 22:02

Bit lost, but looked great, was there an incest scene or did I get confused?

MajesticSeaFlapFlap · 03/01/2016 22:04

There was some incest... wouldn't be a historical drama without a dash of incest

regenerationfez · 03/01/2016 22:15

There was incest. I thought the brother and sister were the most intriguing characters. I remember trying to read the book and giving up after page after page of characters. That's what the beginning felt like, but the rest went surprisingly fast for me. I like Lily James, but she is about 27. Why they get her to play particularly irritating simpering teenagers all the time, I'll never know.

thenightskyI studied Napoleon for A Levels. From what I remember, it was very long ago! it was basically a vanity project. He wanted to be the first to conquer Russia. They did what they always did, retreated into Russia and let Napoleon's armies freeze and starve to death in the Russian winter. It was the beginning of the end of Napoleon.
