I need to get on and hack at my apple tree soon, thanks for the reminder ilove.

Just starting on Deutschland 83 this evening, enjoying it so far

Ilovelblue · 23/01/2016 21:00

Maddie I was thinking earlier about you saying earlier in the week how your department at work has changed a lot whilst you've been off. My office has changed almost beyond belief since last June or so and I've been there all the time but still struggle with all the changes and new people (many of whom are a great deal younger than I am). You just sort of muddle along after a while. Is it about a month before you go back?

Richtea I do enjoy getting dressed up now and again but haven't had the occasion for quite some time. The last occasions were on a cruise in 2013. I enjoyed doing it twice during the cruise but wouldn't have wanted to do it every night. I do like the sound of the Savoy though. I hope you have a lovely evening.

Ilovelblue · 23/01/2016 21:10

pixie there's a really tall branch right in the middle of the tree which I struggle to get at. I think it needs sawing off to be honest. If all else fails next Sunday, I will persuade my very tall colleague to come home one lunchtime with me and chop it back. He probably won't even need a ladder!

I've been catching up with Michael Portillo and his Great British Railway Journeys. As an MP, I thought he was well out of touch with "normal" people (did he represent Kensington and Chelsea?) but I really like his train journeys. He did one all round the north west of England and although I have been born and brought up round here, there were things about my home town on that programme I didn't know.

MaddieMoo82 · 23/01/2016 21:15

Yes ilove just over 4 weeks. Im sure I'll get used to it its just all the new faces and my worrying about forgetting all the technical stuff/procedures/ policies as havent used my brain for 10 mths. The department is huge and the turnover of staff is high leaving/moving to different areas. MrMads says that 3 people have handed in their notices this week!

Watching warhorse and it's reminding of seeing the stage production, wish I could see it again.

kuiakaituhi · 24/01/2016 07:05

Am watching Deutschland 83.Excellent series...I can remember quite clearly when the Berlin Wall came down. The series captures the mood of the time very well.. Cold War and all that.

We have only just got Cuffs in New Zild...brilliant first episode. Was it popular in GB? Woof I could easily be in for a relapse of BBI after watching this. Also really caught up in Shetland. Great acting.

Back to school and reality Thursday this week. Feeling grumpy already. We always get the best, hottest weather as soon as the new term starts. Hard to have kids inside. I see you are having just the opposite, as are parts of USA.

Hopefully will get my Sohail saga completed in the next few days. Really sad what is happening in Afghan and Iraq right now.Hard to write fiction when the reality is so dreadful.

Keep warm and safe, everyone over there in the mists and snow, from us in the heatwave, mosquitos and parched farmland.

MaddieMoo82 · 24/01/2016 08:20

Morning all. Oh I miss lying in bed on a Sunday with the newspapers! Back to mild and rainy here.

Have a lovely time at the savoy today rich

Looking forward to reading the rest of your sohail story kuia I've really enjoyed it.

moojangles · 24/01/2016 10:06

SPO is back !!!!

icemistOBE · 24/01/2016 10:07

Morning! New chapter from spo just what I needed this morning.

I've had a lie-in. DH got up with boys although he's asleep on the couch but I don't care I stayed in per till 9:45!!!!

Can't believe it's London next weekend!! So excited. Need to plan what I'm wearing and get it packed away.

Yipee. Love the zombies :)

Nickel45 · 24/01/2016 12:32

rich have a fab time. Any gorgeous footballers turning up this time? [Wink]

ice you're very organised! Any cast or crew turning up? What are you doing? Have a wonderful time.

Richtea19 · 24/01/2016 12:52

nickel it's a tribute to Patrick Vieira. I had to google him!!

ice I don't think I'm going to be able to get up to London for 10.30 to meet you at Euston but ill do my best to meet up earlier before lunch.

Ilovelblue · 24/01/2016 13:02

I'm pretty useless at football Richtea. I've had to Google him as well. Where I used to sit at work, there were five men around me (yes, wasn't I lucky) and the only information I ever gleaned about the sport was subconsciously listening to them.

Very proud of myself this morning as I managed to saw through the remaining apple tree branch which I didn't think I was going to be able to reach and then I went out for a bike ride. That's enough exercise for one day I think - I'm going out for afternoon tea with a friend in about an hour.

Just watching the lunchtime news and am so glad we don't have the snow the east coast of America are having at the moment. One state had over 3 foot of the stuff. Rather them than me.

MaddieMoo82 · 24/01/2016 13:11

It's crazy over there isn't it ilove? I've said it on here before but it only snows here about once every 10yrs and usually about 1cm which still causes a citywide gridlock so can't imagine 3 foot!!!! Enjoy your afternoon tea sounds lovely.

Nickel45 · 24/01/2016 15:34

Bet he's lovely rich (despit being a long time Gooner!), and a sexy French accent to boot, no doubt. Hope he does a long speech :)

icemistOBE · 24/01/2016 15:58

Getting organised as I'm working Friday so want to just come home without needing to pack. Plus hubby now working the Sat so need to do a bag for boys for then and not forgetting swim stuff for 6yo

Article in mirror today about OG and MK says her character will be totally different to Molly. No mention of filming date though

I need to take a leaf out of your book ice and get organised for next week; need to pack for Lanzarote and fit 5 days of work into 3....

Onlygirljen · 24/01/2016 17:58

Evening all! If I ever show any interest in alcohol again, please give me a virtual slap! Running about all day with no food, way too much prosecco plus jaegerbombs and tequila with dh's cousins has left me in an awful state today. Glad to report all kilt bits are present and correct, and neither of the boys lost the wedding rings during the ceremony although we had a close call when youngest decided to send the ring box on a ride with Thomas the tank engine under the seat in front

Yes ilove, speeches first here is the norm anything for a toast. DH did well with his, won't mention the others!!! Lovely wedding shame about the day long hangover

pixieg1rl · 24/01/2016 18:24

So you're going to be sipping mineral water all next weekend then Jen? Grin

Ilovelblue · 24/01/2016 19:46

Glad you had a good day at the wedding Jen. Sorry about the hangover! Did you say you are on holiday this week?

I think the speeches pre-meal are an excellent idea - surprised it's not taken off down here. Far more sensible.

The afternoon tea was ok but not the best. My friend's husband hadn't wanted to go, hence her asking me. The service was pretty poor - it's not a place I would recommend - but it was free and a good chance to catch up for a chat.

Ilovelblue · 24/01/2016 20:58

It's simply not possible to watch Call the Midwife and not cry!

pixieg1rl · 24/01/2016 21:13

Tonight's was a real heart string puller Ilove

Nickel45 · 24/01/2016 21:28

Going to watch CTM and Lucky Man tomorrow. Last week's CTM was a real heart wrencher, wasn't it. So brilliantly acted. Are they following the thalidomide storyline through? So scary to think it wasn't that long ago though.

Ilovelblue · 24/01/2016 22:17

There was no mention of thalidomide this week. It was supposed to be 1961 last week - only a year before I was born.

Nickel45 · 24/01/2016 22:46

That's a bit close for comfort, isn't it. I was amazed that the pharma companies that produced it are still going, and that it is still used - but obviously not for morning sickness. Anyway, bit heavy for a Sunday night, think I'd best go back to Candy Crush!

KellyHb · 24/01/2016 22:58

Evening all.

Had such a busy weekend doing jobs, washing etc etc. Only just having a chance to post now.

Must tell you we went to the MetroCentre this afternoon to nip in to get Sky TV arranged anyhow, the British Army had a stand there with some activities for the kids to do as well as info for adults who were interested. I stood and had a look to see if there were any decent CJ types. I thought my search was futile until I saw a gorgeous one. He had CJ's build, a gorgeous arse (like 2 peaches in a hanky) mousey coloured hair and looked like officer material.

By this stage I was gorping and I had a twin pulling at my arm so it cramped my style somewhat but unfortunately I didn't manage to catch the eye of Captain Phwoarrr.HmmGrin I felt like joining up just so I could hold his pen

Glad wedding went well jen. Hope hangover is lots better by now.

I've heard of that series pix but wasn't sure what it was about.
