I think this is my first post of 2016 so happy New Year everyone - I'm a bit behind the curve on that I'm afraid!

Jen - the uncertainty is awful but I know several people who have actually done pretty well out of redundancy (serial redundancy in a couple of cases). Fingers crossed for you and MrJ Thanks

I think I am maybe starting to decompress- but on the other hand Ice's pictures take me straight back, as does the merest hint of London Grammar or Birdy. I keep thinking I'm going to check back in here and find some wonderful new intel about the S2 cast - I can't believe it is taking so long. Hmm

pixieg1rl · 15/01/2016 10:08

happy new year frank. What are we calling decompression? I haven't watched my DVD since the watch-a-long; I'm very sternly not allowing myself to read any ff until I finish writing the next chapter, so I'm decompressing quite a bit as well. Mind you lusting after Sam Heughan is splitting my focus considerably...

cjwoofwoof · 15/01/2016 13:16

Happy New Year always & commiserations jen on your DHs predicament. I'm sure something'll turn up for him and it'll prove to be the best move he's ever made; doesn't stop you worrying in the meantime though - stay positive Flowers

Ditto on the decompression pix I haven't watched an episode since the Watchalong either. Thanks to THAT towel action at Christmas and the yummy thoughts of Poldark S2 looming plus dear Manu popping up again hopefully all leather-clad in Shannara Chronicles (fingers crossed its coming to Blighty or kuia will have to send me some graphic stills), the lushness that was CJ is becoming a distant memory. OG2 is simply taking too long with no word still on BA's involvement bah! Angry

Rhubarb01 · 15/01/2016 16:32

Sorry to hear about the redundancy threat. Fingers crossed for you and your DH jen. I've been made redundant twice. The first time was the worst because I had a mortgage of my own to pay (those were the days when it was still possible on a single modest salary!!) and was naturally concerned but something else came along and as others have said in hindsight it was a good thing because I moved into a different industry sector and got more and different experience for a couple of years and then found another job that I really enjoyed and stayed in happily until I had kids.My DH has been under threat several times in the last few years but I think he would actually relish the chance to find something completely different after many years in the same job. It's a bit like Ilove says though, sometimes you have to 'wait out' to get your dues first. Good luck to you.

Decompression - I feel it a bit combined with general January depression - but I went for a trawl through the internet looking back at old information and some discussions on other sites way back after OG was first aired and just reading those comments really brought all the feelings back. I think like woof says it's the waiting for some news of something happening - just a bit of speculation and gossip would be good to get us talking OG again.

In the meantime, caught up with War and Peace and it's starting to grab me a bit but even all those uniforms can't reignite the feeling. I suppose there's going to be great love story at some point to make us sigh - I actually don't really know the story very well apart from the fact that it's long and it's Russian - ooh er missus!

Well my weekend involves putting into practice one of my New Year resolutions to hold a cooking and baking session once a month and fill the freezer with lots of good home-cooked dinners etc. Here's guessing that one very long tiring day in the kitchen will finish me off for the rest of the year - but you've gotta try! Have a good one everyone!

BK28 · 15/01/2016 18:46

oh Rhub your home made dinner cook in sounds like a brilliant idea, now DS is away and it is only two of us it could save on the what shall we have scenario every evening!

Really get what is being said about decompression ... reread of ff is keeping me going, but I think my image of CJ is perhaps morphing a bit!

Hope everyone stays warm and safe as the temperature drops!!

MaddieMoo82 · 15/01/2016 19:06

Evening all.
Hope we get cast news soon before everyone decompresses Sad
MrMads is playing football outside tonight and its supposed to be minus temperatures, I on the otherhand intend on tackling episode 2 of W&P Grin
rhu your food freezer plan is fab. If we had a freezer big enough I would love to do that.
Happy Friday everyone Smile

KellyHb · 15/01/2016 20:42

Evening all.

pix I wouldn't mind Sam Heughan splitting my focus Grin

Re: decompression. I guess I am a bit. I think it's the fact of no news and we're into middle of January while internet says MK is away filming in next couple of weeks and you think why are they leaving late to announce more??

Like I've said before if LT was coming back, I would be more excited but I should catch up on FF while we continue to wait. Confused

JN looks gorgeous in episode 2 mads. He looks masterful in brocade.

MaddieMoo82 · 15/01/2016 20:56

Yes kelly he can come and visit me in just his green jacket anytime he wants Blush

pixieg1rl · 15/01/2016 21:29

Still haven't watched W&P; finally watched AT in his towel this week, although reading about it I expected a lot more towel off action so I was a bit disappointed.

MaddieMoo82 · 15/01/2016 21:43

Enjoying w&p and kelly is right JN is very gorgeous!! Love jim broadbent in it too. Saving Shetland for another evening.

Ilovelblue · 15/01/2016 22:24

Evening all. A catalogue of disasters and generally depressing situations tonight so have come on here hoping to be cheered up, only to read of decompression!

Have been so incredibly tired all week and was making a pasta sauce tonight (just onions, tomatoes, garlic and red wine) and decided to have a sit down with a coffee whilst it was simmering, fell asleep and woke up 30 mins later when everything was welded to the pan! Threw more ingredients in a pan and started to put the week's shopping away. A tin fell out of the cupboard and smashed into the cats' saucer of milk.... milk and broken pot everywhere. To cap it all, I stood on the tail of my younger cat!

Went to see my elderly friend tonight which just about tipped me over the edge. She was really ratty, giving me the most minute details of her day (her husband is now doubly incontinent and I'm not sure I need to know every single detail). I was telling her a particular tale and she interrupted halfway through, asking a question about how the situation panned out, and I just shouted "Well if you'd stop interrupting me, maybe I could tell you!" I think she was quite taken aback and said one of the carers they have is always telling her she interrupts so I just said "Well maybe you should take note then!" Came back home feeling very out of sorts but tried to put some of it down to the January blues, not just my elderly friend's problems.

Ilovelblue · 15/01/2016 22:41

I've been feeling signs of decompression as well, but as Rhubarb suggests, I've been explaining some of it away as general after Christmas fed-up syndrome! I think I watched a couple of OG episodes at some point after Christmas, probably one of the many days when it never seemed to stop raining, but yes, those CJ feelings are starting to dissipate and if I'm honest, it's only the great ff which are keeping things going for me.

I love being on here but now it's not just CJ but it's like chatting with friends about everyday ups and downs.

Oh and Rhubarb I have a couple of cooking sessions a month. I quite often pick up meat in the supermarket which is reduced as it's up to its sell by date (a benefit of working very close to Tesco) and then I concoct some sort of casserole with it and freeze individual portions so I always know I have something to fall back on and can plan out meals in advance. Guess I can be a bit OTT about meal planning.

Nickel45 · 15/01/2016 22:54

Exactly ditto to that ilove, I was thinking the same, I am gagging to hear news about the new series and can't wait till its on, but this thread is now so much more for me, I've a whole bunch of new friends :) course, pics of CJ will always make me happy, but I've not watched an ep since the watch along either. The ff is keeping me un-decompressed. On that note fab ffs in the last week, thank you whaj, spo (ffunnily enough the day you posted, I woke up wondering when we were going to get the next chapter, so so pleased, love the szs), kuia and all the other authors that I keep going back to :) I think at the mo, RL is so busy, that this is kind of taking a bit of a back seat, but probably as it should be! Littlies birthday next week, and I've not organised anything, going to have to go present shopping tomorrow, and now she wants a party! (Well, she always wanted a party, but I was in denial that it as so soon, and have left it a bit late to organise!). Still check in on here all the time now. Roll on series two when we will all be back (she says, hoping that CJ is actually in s2!)

Ilovelblue · 15/01/2016 23:05

Thank goodness for that Nickel - I was really beginning to think it was just me! When I was with ice and Richtea in Manchester, we were pondering on all those who had fallen by the wayside. I particularly wonder about Kezia. She seems to have disappeared without trace.

I hope we all stick together anyway! It depresses me even more to think this thread may fade into oblivion! Let's hope we just need news of S2 to invigorate us all.

pixieg1rl · 15/01/2016 23:08

I've failed to organise anything for DS's birthday (also next week) nickel. I'm feeling doubly guilty because I'm unlikely to see him on his birthday, as I have to go to London for work that day.

Good luck with the day of cooking Rhu, I try to do the cook a big meal eat half/freeze half rather than do a dedicated cooking day. Drop scones/American pancakes are a good one, they defrost quickly in a microwave for breakfasts.

MaddieMoo82 · 15/01/2016 23:22

Ahhh hugs ilove sounds like one of those rubbish days. I think January is always a bit of a blue month isn't it and with all the rubbish weather that doesn't help either.

I've not been here long but is definately more than just ourgirl for me. You are all lovely and very supportive even though I've not done any meet ups you still feel like a group of friends.

kuiakaituhi · 16/01/2016 04:15

Thanks nickel for the ff mention. I'm finding it quite hard to continue with the Sohail story. I know where I want to take it but it seems as if readers have lost enthusiasm, apart from old faithfuls like Greenstuff and Woof Speaking of which,in response to hints and suggestive comments from the latter, herewith Allanon, last druid of Shannara

kuiakaituhi · 16/01/2016 04:16

MaddieMoo82 · 16/01/2016 08:11

Oh my kuia what a couple of pictures to wake up too!!! The second is very 'Spartan'

pixieg1rl · 16/01/2016 08:18

I'm no equestrian, but that bareback riding has got to chafe.

I hope everyone is going to have a nice relaxing weekend (well except rhu who I hope can lay off the cooking sherry long enough to finish her madness cooking). Cold and frosty here which means there's a high likelihood of ending up at soft play at some point. Starting the day here with a pint of tea and Star Wars Lego.

KellyHb · 16/01/2016 08:24

Morning all.

Wow kuia. Lovely pics. I'm sure woof will enjoy looking at these too.

Having breakfast early as off to the hairdressers in a bit. Then off to Mothercare to pick up 3 car seats. Hope they fit in the car as DH will take the old ones out later.

No ice or frost here this morning. I thought there would be judging by how freezing it was overnight.

Have a good morning everyone. Smile

MaddieMoo82 · 16/01/2016 08:32

I think thanks to his many previous performances he's got skin like leather down there pix, so reckon he won't chafe.
Popped out with the dog for 5 mins and it's bloody slippery here!

Onlygirljen · 16/01/2016 08:39

Morning! Bloody freezing here, Mr J has already been out running while I slob around with pyjamas and coffee Confused.

orphan · 16/01/2016 09:21

Morning all! RL has been a bit all consuming recently; a euphemism for finally catching up with all the programmes we'd recorded and needed to watch cos storage had hit 'critical'. (Can recommend Fargo series 2 by the way if you like black humour and can stomach a bit of gore.)

Loving W&P and even contemplating trying to read it again - I've always given up partway through. The Guardian recaps make me laugh as the reviewer lusts after JN saying he'd nailed the part, then 'Enough about nailing'!

Also enjoying Dickensian and the dastardly Compeyson and his gleaming naked buttocks but his resemblance to Guy Martin is rather disconcerting at times.

As for decompression - haven't watched OG for ages but am still completely in love with the ff versions of CJ, who have actually surpassed the original in lustworthiness now.

Tonight I have a date with a bottle of prosecco, otherwise known as dp and I are out for a meal and hopefully tomorrow we'll go to look at the Lumiere winter light festival down at Canary Wharf. Kelly have you ever been to the one in Durham? We went a couple of years ago but this is the first time they've done it in London.

jen sending positive vibes and massive hugs your way re Mr J's job.

Richtea19 · 16/01/2016 09:23

Icy freezing here too! Dropped DS off at park run and I'm in the car with a coffee... Really should run too!

Got a man coming over today to look at our leaking porch/gutter, really don't need that expense at the moment, but then I spare a thought for those poor people that have had their whole house flooded.

I'm watching War and Peace but still finding it a bit slow.
