That's exactly why I like it rhu, it came out shortly after I'd been studying women's literature of the period, and it's by far my favourite Jane Austen book. I haven't seen the RPJ version as we weren't in the UK then.

I walked past someone who looked like a young Nick Medhurst today then I realised I was old enough to be his mother

Rhubarb01 · 12/01/2016 19:28

Yes Pixie it runs a very close second to P&P for me. I shall just have to continue imagining it's a slightly roughed up version of RPJ! - hmm not too difficult (thinking the tattered shirt, bloodied cheek and burnt shoulder requiring mustard gently rubbed into it by firelight - of The 39 Steps variety!) I think it's easy to identify with poor Anne suffering all the agonies of losing the love of her life and then the heart-fluttering possibility of getting a second chance - if only fate is kind to her - will she or won't she? We all like one of those. I was asked recently to state a character in fiction that I really liked and I chose Anne. It struck me later that one of the things about her is that the people who should value her most, her closest relatives (father and sisters) are the ones who value her least and it's everyone else who sees her good qualities and respects her even though she seems so insignificant to the world in general being this slightly ageing (God help her at 27!!) spinster.

Yes I think I could endure a little bit of agony if I managed to capture a roughed up RPJ the end!

Must catch up with War and Peace - saw the first episode and wasn't sure about it - actually I struggled to hear what was being said - the sound seemed really poor - which reminds me of Jamaica Inn and with a tenuous link the news that Matthew McNulty is going to be in the new series of Musketeers apparently - hopefully not a baddie! Certainly interested to see the cut of his jib in leather!

Evening all. It's never stopped raining again all afternoon. I thought it was supposed to be cold and frosty. I realised at some point this afternoon that not only had I been wearing my knickers on inside out all day but that they were the wrong way round. No wonder they'd felt uncomfortable!!

RPJ roughed up or otherwise would suit me fine.

pixieg1rl · 12/01/2016 20:43

Don't forget to turn them the right way round tomorrow to get an extra day's wear out of them ilove.

Ilovelblue · 12/01/2016 20:48

Love it pixie! Fortunately, I have so many pairs, I don't need a second day's wear out of them! I wait till the sale in Tesco (a bit like DFS, once one sale finishes, another starts) so I can pick up their knickers which usually retail for £5 a pair for 75p. I'm addicted to looking at the undies, I have to confess.

KellyHb · 12/01/2016 20:50

Yes pix seen that version and its a great version. Not quite RPJ but love the kiss CH gives Amanda Root at the end. Aww.

You made me laugh ilove. I thought you were going to say you went out without wearing any! Blush

Ilovelblue · 12/01/2016 20:57

Richtea I opened your jar of honey tonight. I needed comfort food so cooked sausages in a honey and mustard marinade. They were posh sausages too - Duchy Originals. Well, if they're good enough for HRH, they're good enough for me. Must point out however, they were reduced in the bargain bin in Waitrose.

MaddieMoo82 · 12/01/2016 21:32

Evening all.
Loooooooong day, can't wait to go to bed after last night on the sofa. CJ definately helped. Thanks all your advice. He's been sound asleep since 7pm so totally different to last night.
Haven't seen that version of persuasion, so will add that to my to watch list Smile

KellyHb · 12/01/2016 23:36

Jen the Outlander cast are flying out to Scotland tonight!! You lucky thing.
Star Keep your eyes peeled for gorgeous thighs. Grin

Onlygirljen · 13/01/2016 08:06

Let thighwatch commence GrinGrin

MaddieMoo82 · 13/01/2016 08:57

A thigh-watchalong would be lovely.. Grin

pixieg1rl · 13/01/2016 09:10

^Thighs......
^
I was watching a behind the scenes thing and someone on the outlander crew has the job of spraying fake mud on their thighs. That must be one of the best jobs in the world.

KellyHb · 13/01/2016 09:38

Morning

I'm in danger of becoming too invested in the couple who play Jamie and Claire. They're dating in RL too and sooo cute together.

MaddieMoo82 · 13/01/2016 10:08

Is thigh sprayer what's keeping woof busy.

Blooming freezing here.

KellyHb · 13/01/2016 10:12

Freezing here too mads. I've got the heating on full blast.

pixieg1rl · 13/01/2016 10:47

Working from home today; our house is freezing at the best of times. I'm sat at my desk wearing a scarf, gloves and a blanket. I think I might turn on the heating soon before I run out of extra layers to put on.

Ilovelblue · 13/01/2016 11:44

It had hailed a lot overnight here and it subsequently froze. It took me ages to defrost the car before leaving for work. It's a panoramic windscreen and defrosting it is definitely one of the downsides! Warmed up here now though and a sunny morning.

MaddieMoo82 · 13/01/2016 11:44

Pre-DS I never hardly put it on but now it's on loads. You could try a sleeping bag pix

KellyHb · 13/01/2016 13:09

I nearly choked on my drink when you said you might turn the heating on pix Shock

Literally I have the heating on in summer sometimes. I haven't got a clue how much the heating costs us I suppose as I never see the bills but I presume I do waste a lot.

Richtea19 · 13/01/2016 13:17

pixie where's your slanket!!!! I have the heating on and currently like a Chinese laundry and have wet washing draped over rads!!!

pixieg1rl · 13/01/2016 13:38

I am a complete miser when it comes to heat Kelly, I don't like to heat the house when it's just me. I put it on when DS gets in from school. I might wrestle the fan heater off MrP soon though.

Nickel45 · 13/01/2016 13:56

I always have the heating on when I work from home! You have to get your slanket out pix :)

Love the spraying on grime job, wonder how you go about getting that job thinks about updating cv, do you think getting kids covered in mud is enough experience?- !

KellyHb · 13/01/2016 14:27

Ah I miss my little fan heater I used to have when I lived at my parents. It broke when I moved out. I think it was sad. Ha!

nickel if having experience of grime gets you the job of applying it on a certain Highlander, I'm about to roll around my back garden because its filthy.. (not a euphemism)

cjwoofwoof · 13/01/2016 14:28

Aah yes mads spraying is one of my fortes but it's not usually mud I must admit , along with chief towel fluffer/warmer upper. My scythe smearing is second to none I'm told. Indeed, my smears could win awards, but I don't usually like to brag Grin

cjwoofwoof · 13/01/2016 14:30

I've also applied many a scar on dear Manu sadly he's still receiving therapy
