I've only just watched this as was out last night, so couldn't vote. I'm shocked by the result - felt underwhelmed. Only one that was a show dance in my opinion.
If ITT was on the red button least night, is there any way I can watch out? I agree, I'd like one after the final show.
I also think the judges scores should count in the final to make it less of a popularity contest.

CaveMum · 20/12/2015 21:28

I had a dance lesson this morning and had a long chat with my teacher about last night. Her thoughts:

Jay and Georgia's Show Dances were dull, the clue is in the name - "Show" Dance!

Katie's Show Dance could have been good, but she wasn't a good enough dancer to carry it off and she thought all the running up and down steps was pointless.

Kellie's Show Dance was the best.

Jay was the best dancer overall, but not the best dancer on the night.

She maintains that, if she was in charge, she'd insist on a week or two of basic dances - strict syllabus only, no deviations, just like in a competition. She accepts that it's probably not exciting enough for the audience though.

It Takes Two winners' interview is on Iplayer as episode 61

millimat · 20/12/2015 21:34

Thanks santa

Glittery
DWTS is no longer being shown here, unfortunately. Looked at the Watch programmes for the next 2 week and nothing appears.

Have been watching Sound of Music with Kara Tointon who not only won SCD in 2010, I think, and now we know what a lovely singing voice she has too. Such a multi-talented lady she is.
He has just finished singing Edelweiss and I have been blubbing. Blush

I was a wee bit disappointed in the final. As previous people have said the show dances were not really showy, Katie was out of her depth from about 3/4 of the way through the final and it really should have been Anita there instead of her.

Imagine Gleb's show dance! Horses! Cannons! Fireworks! Dragons!! Anita being hurled around like a sack of tatties

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 20/12/2015 22:40

Through the series i meant to write, not through the final...

TheDrsDocMartens · 20/12/2015 23:16

Just watching ITT, the balcony shot after they announced Jay shows Joanne Clifton looking v pissed off.
Thought the waiting pairs were interesting as all three blokes looked resigned to not winning and the three women looked slightly hopeful.

AnyoneButSanta · 20/12/2015 23:19

Joanne and Karen were standing right at the front of the balcony, having got their hopes up.

TheDrsDocMartens · 20/12/2015 23:34

Yes , Karen at least was smiling though.

GlitteryRollers · 20/12/2015 23:39

Is there a clip of Joanne and Karen?

I suppose no one can blame them for wantimg Kevin to win, but I did find their chanting of "10" every time he and Kellie danced a bit tacky and and disrespectful.

TheDrsDocMartens · 20/12/2015 23:43

Bet Monkseal will have one!
It's right after they announce J&A

GlitteryRollers · 20/12/2015 23:50

I often wonder how the pros all get on with each other?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/12/2015 00:25

I've watched today.

I was a bit... underwhelmed to be honest, especially with the showdances. Mind you, I haven't really had a favourite this year, which probably doesn't help!

They did have that (ish) in earlier series though, pretty much. Only 2 dances a week, one Latin & one Ballroom. The VTs were v focussed on what the dance was about & what was important re footwork, top line etc.

Maybe as it's become more popular they do think viewers don't want as much basic & technical. Hence more daft comedy VTs.

I do though.

And didn't they previously only have two dances a week so you could compare like with like? I thought it made more sense with difficult dances like the samba or rumba, under the current system someone good will go out purely because they've been assigned something difficult whilst a weaker dancer is doing something relatively easy. But I can see that the current system makes for more entertaining programmes.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/12/2015 09:16

I think the problem is that something like restricted step jive (for example) doesn't necessarily look that exciting when it isn't danced well. Flicks and kicks just look more impressive - same for hoppy skippy stuff (technical term there Grin) in the quickstep.

I have seen high level dancers dance restricted step stuff and it looks amazing, but for a so-so dancer who's just doing it for one week, perhaps they need the flashier steps to hide behind?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/12/2015 09:21

I do think two/four dances a week is better for comparing though. You get to compare styles of choreography and music people use that way too.

Actually, what I'd love them to do is follow a dance school or university society for a year as people find partners/prepare for competitions/move up categories and buy their first dresses etc Smile

NoahVale · 21/12/2015 09:28

georgia Craig said could be in his shows.
what ever happens to previous contestants? do they Make something dancing or just go back to what they were doing before?

i didnt mind who won, loved kellie and jay equally. so for me it was between those two.
my dm liked katie cos she was intelligent Grin erm

Sparklingbrook · 21/12/2015 09:33

Um has anyone seen the pics of Jay and Aliona in the Daily Mail today. I do wonder what her husband thinks. Confused

comeagainforbigfudge · 21/12/2015 09:41

No, you gotta link?

I'm watching the final ITT. I don't understand why when they are all already mike'd up they are using hand held microphones?

NoahVale · 21/12/2015 09:48

imo There is nothing to see in those pictures.

GlitteryRollers · 21/12/2015 09:57

I still can't find a clip of the Clifton's when Jay won. It's a big topic of conversation over on DS, but they generally hate the Clifton's on there anyway and don't need an excuse to bash them.

Got to say the image of Alijaz and Gleb lifting Jay onto their shoulders is one that will stay with me for some time. How strong they both are! Blush

Sparklingbrook · 21/12/2015 09:58

They must have known they were going to be photographed. It must be very odd for Aliona's DH to see it though. I can't imagine seeing photos of my other half being like that with someone else. but hey he's not a dance professional. Grin

It is the DM after all so I know it should not be taken as anything other than tittle tattle.
