if you compare the way K&K do that move with the way J&A did it, you can see exactly why J&A won.

Not really because J&A stuffed up plenty of times. He never lived up to the promise of that jive in the rest of the competition.

capercaillie · 20/12/2015 16:28

I caught up with it this morning. Pleased that Jay and Aliona won - liked their show dance and think it may have been under marked. Would it have got a different reaction if he went last?

I also loved Anton and Katie's show dance though. For me, it's because you know they were throwing everything at that dance and it was a real challenge for Katie - who did well. Had real surprise and dramatic moments in which it didn't feel that many of the others did. If I'd have been voting last night, then I'd have been voting for them.

GG and KK both lovely dancers but just don't do it for me.

Dipankrispaneven · 20/12/2015 16:32

Soup, you did see his rumba and charleston, didn't you?

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 16:36

You did see their original quick step didn't you?
You do realise Jay and Kellie scored exactly the same over the competition don't you?

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 16:37

I simply have a different opinion to you.

GlitteryRollers · 20/12/2015 16:44

Soup, no offence but you really are quite oversensitive and a little bit rude. You trotted out the "im enitled to my opinion" line to me yesterday after I pulled you up on your comments about Georgia.

No one is saying you are not allowed a different opinion, but on a forum people are not always going to agree with you and are allowed to challenge you.

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 16:49

Oh don't be ridiculous.

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 16:51

I stand by all I said about Georgia. Others have said the same.

I'm no more over sensitive or rude than you are.

Dipankrispaneven · 20/12/2015 16:51

What Glittery said.

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 16:53

on a forum people are not always going to agree with you and are allowed to challenge you.

Perhaps listen to your own advice....? Or are only certain opinions allowed to be challenged? Confused

It's disingenuous to try to argue the final is little more than a popularity contest.

SoupDragon · 20/12/2015 16:54

dIpan, you've been rude to me when I've disagreed with your personal opinion.

SkodaLabia · 20/12/2015 16:56

Can someone link me to Darcey's showdance? Can't find it!

GlitteryRollers · 20/12/2015 17:03

Ive not see any rudeness or agression on this thread, until now. Shame because its been such a nice thread.

Of course the final is a popularity contest, the public hate it when the judges try and tell them who to vote for and it inevitably backfires. Kellie's quickstep was hidelously overmarked last night, but she did pull out the stops for the showdance. The Star Wars themed Charleston however, was shown up by Georgia's far superior one just before.

Jay when on from is a superb dancer. His jive is the best dance by a male celebrity ever on Strictly IMO. Trying to play that down is silly, the judges were stunned by it for it good reason.

Dipankrispaneven · 20/12/2015 17:08

The fact that Jay messed up the original quickstep doesn't devalue what he did in the rumba and charleston. As for the overall marks, he would have got higher marks for the jive had it not been in week 3, and he was undermarked more than once. By contrast, Kellie was certainly overmarked for the show dance at least. And I don't in any way subscribe to the view that she was the BBC's favourite. Purely my opinion, of course.

Soup, when have I been rude to you in this thread? I expressed a view about J&A, you disagreed with it and said they'd never lived up to the jive for the rest of the competition, I gave examples of dances where in my view they had. Surely that's basic debate?

Of course the final is a popularity contest, that's the nature of a public vote. But no-one can assume that the opinions that swayed their vote are more valid than the opinions of those who voted differently. Some might say that it's quite offensive assuming that everyone who thinks Jay was entitled to win does so purely because of his looks and their desire to mother him.

LisbethSalandersPan · 20/12/2015 17:18

it's a bit possible that Soup, you are mixing dipan up with me, previously. I've also had deepancrispandeven as a Christmas moniker for usual name Pan.
Though for the record I've never been rude to anyone over the years on these threads.

fwiw I thought Jay was slightly inconsistent and error-risk, and perhaps K&K should have won.

Brytte · 20/12/2015 18:15

All of the last 3 on Strictly this year could dance and could have been worthy winners and think it's unnecessarily dismissive to make a big deal out of it being a popularity contest and Jay having been in a boy band. Different people judge on different criteria.

The 3 finalists were very different in their partnerships and their style and all had strengths and weaknesses. Surely no-one votes on the basis of technique alone. I had no idea who any of them were before this but I thought Jay had such beautiful movement. I liked Georgia too. K&K just didn't epitomise beautiful dancing for me even though she was technically good. Maybe their partnership was too pally and not romantic enough for my liking. I warmed to her as a person the closer to the end she got but I wouldn't have voted for her. I think Jay was marked more harshly throughout the series as Craig was marking him down for lack of personality.

AnyoneButSanta · 20/12/2015 19:41

Have you all heard the "Shocking Strictly Bisexual Quadrilateral Rumours!" ((c) Sun on Sunday)?

Jay/Georgia/Giovanni/Georgia's BF allegedly. Presumably total bollocks, but I badly want it to be true. I found the Jaliona rumours quite depressing so my personal preferred alternative was Jay running off with the lovely Oti, but this is even more fun.

AnyoneButSanta · 20/12/2015 19:50

Having now actually read the story in question it is clearly utter bollocks, and comes down to "Georgia spent a lot of time with Giovanni while they were training. Jay smiled at Georgia once." Disappointing Sad

Fiderer · 20/12/2015 20:14

Heh? This thread has gone a bit odd. I thought we all agreed & disagreed & had favourites & wrote:

"That wasn't good & oh yes it was good & please explain why & the dancey people did explain & we still agreed & disagreed & I like him & I don't like him & she's good & she's not - my faves are" - as we've been doing for years.

Knock it off please. I love these threads.

Swaying peace & twirling love

I've read the story, fairly poor effort in the muck raking department. Grin
Although I do think Joe Varney has a bit of a crush on gEorgia.

Behooven · 20/12/2015 20:31

What fiderer said ^^

These are great threads apart from one goady spoiler who was given short shrift

digerd · 20/12/2015 20:34

I thought Georgia's BF was gorgeous - no chance for Varney.

I am at a loss now that Strictly has finished. Sad.
Used to enjoy DWS from US but haven't seen it here in UK for years.

GlitteryRollers · 20/12/2015 20:37

Is DWTS no longer on Watch then? I used to watch it on there.

abbsismyhero · 20/12/2015 20:45

i prefered G&G to be honest i don't rate k&k at all i think they looked childish and amateurish they admitted all they wanted to do is entertain people week after week they didn't seem to be as good clean and precise as the other two couples she always had bent legs and was floppy but maybe i missed the good dances i admit im not watching every week

the lad that won looked shell shocked but i liked his dance

NorksAreMessy · 20/12/2015 20:58

I am bereft
