Corrie thread - we haven't even got a dog storyline to keep us going now

A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

When did the brewery close and become a convenient empty garage?

Make yourself at home and get ready for more totally hopeless acting - it has to improve soon, surely?

I fell asleep watching. Did she call the shop Tracey Loves Robert then?

Pyjamaramadrama · 14/01/2016 13:27

Fiz and Tyrone are just awful. Neither of them can act, the whole money thing is completely unrealistic. I've always wondered the same thing, he'd be taking home quite good money from the garage. The debt would surely have been from other things. Just stupid, cringeworthy, when actors like Roy and Cathy have scenes afterwards it just shows how crap Fuz and Tyrone are.

lizzydrippingsghost · 14/01/2016 18:02

didnt carla have her car repossessed when she was gamling but now she back driving a sports car

lizzydrippingsghost · 14/01/2016 18:06

can someone remind michelle she as 2 sons as she seems to have completely forgotten them

AnguaResurgam · 14/01/2016 18:06

SymphonyOfShadows

Preston's Petals

(where's [boak] when you need it?)

absolutelynotfabulous · 14/01/2016 19:17

Has Michelle got 2 sons?Confused.

The Tracy thing is ridiculous. How do you transform a down-at-heel backstreet bargain shop into a stylish florist's in a couple of days tops? Where's the workmen? Market research? Funding??

Ah wait...this is Corrie.

Akire · 14/01/2016 19:22

That's a good point about Sophie even on £7 an hour that's £280 a week of wages she's taking out of factory and it seems open longer than 5x9-5. So if got rid that's another £140 week between Tyrone and Kevin. Tyrone seems be working for less that that a week. Which crazy as cost well into £100 even do a minor repair on a car.
If they were that poor it would be cheaper for Tyrone stay home and save on child minder fees

AnneEyhtMeyer · 14/01/2016 21:03

Michelle has her birth son and the one he was swapped at birth with. But neither of them seem to be on her mind.

Preston's Petals! That really trips off the tongue

ProfYaffle · 15/01/2016 05:58

"It is true that a lot of people with an ill child get in to debt. But not because of spending it on fake snow for their street and pantomime reindeer. "

Yy, my dh has a brain tumour and we're about to go into his 3rd round of treatment in the last 12 years. The cost of going to hospital is eye watering, we're Ok but I often wonder how other people cope with it. There's a real story there to be explored. Not the fucking snow cannons. Hmm

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/01/2016 10:31

The garage obviously doesn't charge much because when Kev's Velcro Singles Night Girlfriend brought him lunch (sandwiches, fruit, cake) and he said "What do I owe you" she replied "Oh, my car's due and MOT and service"

So Box of lunchey things = MOT+service,
Bargain Grin

Rachel0Greep · 15/01/2016 10:50

True 70, they might need to up their prices.

The other thing that amuses me is the constant refrain of 'we are so busy'.
At any given time, there is one of them pawing at a car, while if any of the others are present, they are busy solving whatever their latest personal crisis is, usually by phone.

Now that Sophie is there though, I am sure profits will go through the roof... Grin

angelos02 · 15/01/2016 11:04

I thought it very odd that Sophie said she didn't think about Maddie every day anymore. She's not been dead that long. A significant person from my past died over 20 years ago and not a day goes by when I don't think of them.

Rubbish, unrealistic line once again from Corrie.

MadHattersWineParty · 15/01/2016 14:43

Pretty much out of sight, out of mind for Sophie re poor Maddie.

Who is looking after all the children now Emily has buggered off to Peru?

Also, rather too often, you see characters having:
-breakfast in Roy's Cafe (£5 spend?)
-Bistro lunch (£10?)
-2-3 rounds of drinks in the Rovers (£10-15?) after 'work'
-kebab or chips from Dev's on the way home (£5?)

So considering a lot of them on the Street must warn roughly around minimum wage as packers or cleaners or working in the shop, that's roughly £30 a day and some of them do that once a week or more. Un-bloody-believable.

purplehazed · 15/01/2016 14:49

I wonder what Sophie gets to write on that clipboard. Her mum has one too in the factory, and just seems to wander round with it.

absolutelynotfabulous · 15/01/2016 19:46

Ah! So that's what's happened to Robert's gambling win. He's going to invest in Nick's.

I think camp competitor is a set-up.

Nick's Bistro looks like someone's shed.

SymphonyofShadows · 15/01/2016 19:52

If forgotten about the winnings. Yes, I thought the bistro looked better before. Those cracked tiles would put me off my grub.

southeastdweller · 15/01/2016 21:05

Just read that Paula Lane (Kylie) is expecting another baby this summer. Maybe this means the Callum saga will end around this time.

teddybearsbear · 15/01/2016 21:14

I am a huge corrie fan but the kitchen scenes at the bistro are annoying me beyond belief! Hardly any food being cooked and what is being done is being done by Robert single handed for a restraunt that is supposed to be turning away bookings and Carla in there flicking her hair around uuuurgh!!

Rachel0Greep · 15/01/2016 21:40

That irritates me, too. Anyone at all seems to be able to barge into the kitchen, ugh.

ajandjjmum · 15/01/2016 21:40

So Steve's back April/May!

theliverpoolone · 15/01/2016 21:59

Kevin seems to have forgotten about poor Jack. Anna going on about having Faye to think about before making their relationship public - what about Jack, who's gone through all sorts of upheavals in his little life, no mention of him! He didn't even get a mention when Kevin was being invited round for tea Hmm

Akire · 15/01/2016 22:19

Will Kevin and Anna get together? There is room in his house ? Fay and Sophie get on well she nearly helped deliver the baby. It's a possible!

Be interesting to see where the street but their I just shaged someone/forgot your birthday flowers from now. Though since most of them hate Tracey she go bust in month.

eddiemairswife · 15/01/2016 23:05

Fizz is going back to work, but surely Hope will need time to convalesce when she comes out of hospital, so who will look after her? Not a very well thought through storyline.

Akire · 15/01/2016 23:45

Presume she will be in hospital for a week still then possible at famous childminders?
