The Hope story just reminds me how actors who aren't up to their jobs shouldn't be given big stories. Jennie McAlpine is particularly bad.

Exactly - you would think she would have been given the heave-ho years ago. I think her and her friend Sean have some dirt on the producers because neither should have progressed beyond am-dram.

Yeah I can't deal with depressing kid stories, hopefully there will be more funny stuff from Mary and the new man!

Lily made a rare appearance. Like many Corrie children she appears to be rather listless. I quite liked the ding-dong between Aud(!) and Nessa. Some comedy potential there.

Didn't see tonight, but absolutely agree, the child cancer story is far beyond Jenny McAlpine's capabilities, in particular.

how dare you shorten Audrey to Aud (she, Audrey, remonstrated with Bethany in a past episode about this very thing) as RL Audrey I dislike the shortened form (blame it on 'to the manor born')
agree - 'Nessa' can act but so many others are hopeless and the Mary 'woo' thing is beginning to irritate me (would Dev really go in pursuit because she was without her mobile phone - so unrealistic)

Didn't her mate Rula Lenska call her Aud though? She didn't mind that

The factory is in danger of having more management team members than machinists with Shayne Ward, his dad, Carla, Alya and Sally all there! Hilarious.

And yes Jenny McAlipine just isn't up to this. I liked her when she first appeared and was all fiesty etc but now she's just a wet blanket. I do quite like Ty though.

And god yes Alya is just awful isn't she? She pulls some odd faces and yes so mismatched with Gary. And how Izzie is all chummy with her is so unrealistic (and she's another one that just cannot act).

As you all say it had a brief moment of being a bit better but now it's back to just how it was...rubbish! No idea why I continue to watch it

I loved the Audrey scenes last night - she's been underused for too long.

Liz's face looked different last night. Like she's had a few fillers.

I'm a big fan of Audrey southeast, aww, remember her with Alfie .

It was lovely to see Steve the other day. Does that mean he's returned to work?

millimat - sadly, I don't think Simon Gregson/Steve has actually 'left' yet. I'm wondering if the current plot with Liz and Tony is leading to Steve's departure. Shame, he'll be missed. Hope he's better soon.

I read that because of the Tony/Liz situation he goes to stay with Andy in Spain.

Because you don't turn off feelings for an ex immediately? I can't remember what she said to Alya (only half watch the dull bits) but could it have been stuff she'd bottled up?

It's only a year or so since they split up, and have recently been getting on pretty well (friendly when they encounter each other, usually at Anna's). And of course, even though we never see Jake, he does live with her and is old enough to be asking 'where's daddy?'

Considering that Jake is Anna's grandson she doesn't spend much time with him. I'm sure Izzie would be grateful for a helping hand occasionally, but Anna never even mentions him.

Absolutely eddie. Poor Jake forgotten, just like Lily. I only remembered the other day about Kevin's son Jack, who we probably haven't seen since Jenny left.

Also, YY about Steve going to Spain for a while. I thought that's what might happen.

I half watch at best, especially anything involving Alya, Gary and so on. Izzy snarling at Alya was just downright stupid. 'Jake needs his dad', FFS, when does he ever see him? Anyway, Izzy should be annoyed at Gary, IMO, for running away. It's not as if Gary has never made mistakes in his own life. Ugh, I'm sick of all that nonsense. I'm no fan of Alya's (to put it mildly), but seriously...

Yep, at least Alya has never held anyone hostage! I know they haven't been onscreen together for a few weeks but I don't find Carla and Nick at all convincing. It's like Nick is the only available bloke they could put her with, a bit like Dev and Erica (what has she done to her face btw?).

Dev with anyone makes me feel a bit nauseous tbh.
