A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

When did the brewery close and become a convenient empty garage?

Make yourself at home and get ready for more totally hopeless acting - it has to improve soon, surely?

The way they talk to those kids drives me bleedin' mental. I wondered the same about Ruby too, why not just have one of the other characters mention looking after her??

AnneEyhtMeyer · 12/01/2016 15:17

I'm always amazed that people who are hopeless at acting have not only been given acting jobs, but have been given jobs in a major television series and then given big storylines.

What is going on? Are there no actors available who can act? How have the actors playing Fizz, Tyrone, Chesney, Sinead, Ken, Michelle, Sean and Kevin (and probably more) not only got the job in the first place, but kept it? It is incomprehensible.

I now fast forward through loads of it.

And with so many leaving or taking a break I reckon the wretched Connors will play an even larger role.

absolutelynotfabulous · 12/01/2016 15:49

Noooooo to more Connor stuff.

Carla and Mick just don't "go", do they?

I don't get why Carla is so keen to marry again, given her recent experience with Peter Barlow.

MissBattleaxe · 12/01/2016 16:03

The best actors are underused. Helen Worth is fabulous when they're not making her the cartoon mother in law. Chris Gascoigne was great too. No matter how badly he behaved I forgave him!

snowypenguin · 12/01/2016 16:19

What's th position with Brendan? Is going to con Mary out of her savings?

desperatehousewife21 · 12/01/2016 16:42

I lived Carla and Peter together, although they weren't all that good for each other they were a more believable couple.

desperatehousewife21 · 12/01/2016 16:43

Loved*

desperatehousewife21 · 12/01/2016 17:33

Also, loved the dinner scene with Sally Tim and Faye. '50 paintings to see before you die, nearly dead by page 6'! Grin

MissBattleaxe · 12/01/2016 18:04

Yes Carla and Peter had great chemistry.

ultimus · 13/01/2016 03:39

Why did Anna say, "We don't like to talk about Jason in our house"? What have I forgotten?

Rachel0Greep · 13/01/2016 08:29

Alya slept with Jason, and she and Gary broke up when he found out.

absolutelynotfabulous · 13/01/2016 09:29

Ah yes. Alya and Jason..yawn.

Loving Sally and Anna's sarky bitching. Sally's a great comic character.

Was Tim looking somewhat wistfully at Anna getting in the taxi with Kevin?

Rachel0Greep · 13/01/2016 10:12

I was replying to pp who asked why Anna had said they don't mention Jason.

VulcanWoman · 13/01/2016 10:28

Now, I like men with beards but the Kevin kissing scenes are making me squirm.
Ah, so that's what Mary's man's up to, bastard.

SymphonyofShadows · 13/01/2016 15:08

I found Carla's angst about Nick and all that not being able to look at Robert stuff totally ridiculous. The writers have obviously forgotten the relentless way she pursued Peter when he was with Leanne, she had zero conscience then, her whole character has changed. The old Carla wouldn't have lost loads of money gambling either.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 13/01/2016 19:34

Fiz CANNOT even act having a cold.
Rage against the answer machine was about Simon Barlow tonight on Greg James. Funny.

Snazarooney · 13/01/2016 19:37

Is Tracey going to call the florists Deirdre's?!

Akire · 13/01/2016 23:06

I thought that too! Alas stupid name instead. Fizz kicked him out at end? Couldn't see if he had bag or not. Where is ruby going stay? All rather OTT.

Can't see florist having a lot of business it's not the sort of place being need to go that often. If they made it a cake shop could at least compete with Roy's.

Not liking the way Alex character is so loved by everyone..... Rather odd. In real life not everyone is going to be falling over themselves to be friendly with new person especially someone with a disability. Yet all jolly hock sticks with everyone he mets. Corrie do realise how many people with a learning disability actual manage to find an employer who will employ them? Yet Alex boasting he will get another job no problem! (Let me guess be at the cafe!) I'm all for positive representation in disabled myself but the way they over look any challenges is so annoying.

mollie123 · 14/01/2016 07:22

so the recreation of Christmas cost £1000s and Fizz thought it was all 'free'
did they not originally book Lapland and then Hope was too ill.
Surely the money/deposit they paid for the cancelled Lapland trip was less than £1000s and Hope and Ruby could have been consoled.Hmm
but this is Corrie and logic flies out of the window
why is the vicar eating at Roy's - has he no other life/parishioners that needs him?
it does not get better!

AnguaResurgam · 14/01/2016 07:31

It seems the writers were considerably more bothered about Ty's finances than his children.

I can't really take to the money storyline, because the illness one was so very badly mishandled.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 14/01/2016 08:02

It is true that a lot of people with an ill child get in to debt. But not because of spending it on fake snow for their street and pantomime reindeer.

The writers either think their audience are thick or they just don't care.

OP posts:
Rachel0Greep · 14/01/2016 10:16

It's just do badly done, not to mention badly acted.
I could understand someone getting into debt, but exactly, Anne, not for fake snow and elves.

Plus, seriously, Tyrone is a partner in the garage, (which is so busy, it needs Sophie and a clipboard Wink), he has no mortgage, no travel expenses, none of the usual stuff that would eat up money.

I also find it hard to believe that he and Kev could be such mates, after all their history. The writers probably don't know that history though Hmm.

Rachel0Greep · 14/01/2016 10:17

...so badly done...

MissBattleaxe · 14/01/2016 11:06

It's funny, I always thought naming a shop after a man who hates you and slagging off his canapes would always end in a marriage proposal from him. I can't think why it didn't work. Hmm
