A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

No way would Steve have missed his first Christmas with Rover married to Michelle, for his brother's broken leg. Andy's managed fine on his own for years in Spain (with the odd 'visit' from Liz when she's needed to be written out) - I think he'd have been able to get by with a broken leg .

Steve and Andy together again would be great. Maybe he could fancy Michelle or something.

Streetcars has gone from having two bosses to none - they should have brought in a new character as caretaker manager or something. Nonsense that two business owners would just disappear.

Roberts hair always makes me think of a Lego man.

Am going to miss Carla (and her wardrobe) when she leaves.

It seemed out of character for Robert to suddenly threaten Carla. I guess that's the push that makes her leave the street.

Here's Sawphie in her big coat drinking tea, 'running' the garage. Aww, daaaaaaad you're terrible yooooow.

Please don't tell me she's the new Carla Connor.

Kept sniggering at Sawphie's heavy hair again tonight.

It's baffling why they'd want to give Sawphie a bigger part. She can't act. Mind you, that can be said about loads of them. A clean sweep is needed.

Another non-episode tonight. Nothing happened of interest; it was a wasted half-hour.

Am watching it now, don't have high hopes.

The Anna - Kevin scene in the pub was awful. As if they'd all be laughing about it!

I loved that scene! I can't wait for Anna and Kevin to get together. They have great chemistry. And isn't Anna gorgeous when she's dresses up? She's naturally so pretty.

I do much prefer Annawhen she's having a laugh with Erica than her usual chopping carrots and ironing babygros.

Missed that episode. Anyone care to fill me in?

Re the Anna/Kevin scene in the pub, I thought he was going to launch into a 'how dare you' speech, was quite surprised that he appeared to be amused by the whole thing.

Lol! Good point! I was rather at the 'oh you!' reaction.

I think he was flattered. Joanne was doing all the running ( and talking) and he was going along with it to be a gentleman even though he clearly fancies Anna.

So Carla was married to Paul. Who was Michelle's brother? Cousin?
The new Connors are Michelle's cousins?

So Carla was married to her dad's nephew? (Her half cousin)

But how did they all know each other growing up? What is the link between Carla's mum and the Connors?

And why are (only) half of them Irish?

Carla's husband Paul was Michelle's brother. Johnny Connor is cousins to Michelle's Dad. I think.

They could have done a lot more withe this story and gone for an incest angle- Johnny could have been Michelle's Uncle for example, but no. The writers decided to make it uber dull instead.

Maybe they wanted the Connor story to be just about good enough to help Carla out of the street, but not interesting enough to sustain the attention..

abnotfab - that just about sums it up - exit for Carla and not too complicated (like the body under the extension) so they would have had to unwind something not unwindable with the limited skill of those deciding a storyline .
Carla's uncharacteristic misbehaviour with Robert facilitates yet another blackmail story so a main character can fall apart and leave.
