Corrie thread - we haven't even got a dog storyline to keep us going now

A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

When did the brewery close and become a convenient empty garage?

Make yourself at home and get ready for more totally hopeless acting - it has to improve soon, surely?

So Robert's going to blackmail Carla then?

What happened to the money they won gambling?

Woodhill · 05/01/2016 09:05

Sophie seems to be doomed. where are her friends and youthful life, remember her homeless work and Christianity. now she never leaves the street. wouldnt Sally want to shake her & encourage her to have a career.

only Billy seems to have an occupation away from CS & Chesney in market?

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 09:58

I must say I didn't like the complete change of character from Robert. His USP is that he's principled and wouldn't take any of Tracey's shit. Then in two minutes he becomes a blackmailer. Totally out of character and a big shame because it's good to have a nice guy to root for.

Pyjamaramadrama · 05/01/2016 10:01

Haven't been on this thread for a while I must say I'm not entirely surprised by Roberts character change, I thought when he was with Tracey he seemed a bit controlling.

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 10:05

I didn't see him as controlling, just trying to reign in her evil ness.

eddiemairswife · 05/01/2016 10:06

I think it has been a mistake to have this storyline about the Connors. They have only been in Corrie for five minutes, so none of us really know them or care what happened in their past lives.

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 10:23

Exactly. The viewers are not emotionally invested so it feels like a bunch of strangers having a conversation about something we don't care about. If they'd done the Darth Vader reveal about a long established character it might have been mildly more interesting. My eyes just glazed over last watching that scene.

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 10:25

I also wonder how long the Steve in Spain storyline can go on for. I know the actor's taking a break and I wish him well, but it's looking a bit unusual for a newly married man to live abroad instead of with his wife for so long. Michelle's in danger of becoming a spare part.

SymphonyofShadows · 05/01/2016 10:25

Robert wasn't very nice to his wife either though, was he? He shagged Tracey on the side then buggered off when they were found out, while trying to blame the wife. Then he moved straight in with the Barlows. If this was in Relationships we would all be calling him a cocklodger.

Woodhill · 05/01/2016 11:09

what is it with his hair? Is it dyed or a toupe or something, his face looks haggered. Agree he did seem decent. In Corrie blackmail seems to be in every storyline - Amy with Nessa, Rob with the Connors now Robert. Do people really behave like this?

Rachel0Greep · 05/01/2016 11:35

Yes, I always find myself gazing at his hair. It's nearly like a separate entity, or something. Grin Definitely looks like he needs to lay off the hair dye.

I agree with the comments about the Connors, I kept thinking last night 'so what?' I can't feel anyway moved, or interested, by their story.

Rachel0Greep · 05/01/2016 11:38

Andy broke his leg, so that is supposedly why Steve is missing for longer than was intended, when he left.
I hope he will be back soon. He is one of the stalwarts, and is badly needed.

absolutelynotfabulous · 05/01/2016 11:51

I think it would make more sense if Michelle went to Spain to be with Steve. She doesn't seem to do much in the Street...

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 12:31

Yes, maybe they should rest Michelle until Steve comes back. I heard Simon Gregson is taking a break for health reasons so it could be open ended.

Woodhill · 05/01/2016 12:56

perhaps a few of the cast could go to Peru to help Emily e.g. Michelle with the new Connors:) plus Tracy, Todd, Les Dennis, Amy and some of the Platts with boring Sawphie

Rachel0Greep · 05/01/2016 13:24

A lot of the younger people should go to Peru, broaden their horizons a little... Chesney, Sinead, Sophie, Sarah, Bethany, Izzie, Simon, Gary, Alya... For starters. Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 05/01/2016 16:47

They could charter a plane to take a load of them to Peru, then there could be a tragic accident over the Andes.

purplehazed · 05/01/2016 17:38

I agree about the Connors. They seem to have took over enmass rather than gradually introduce them individually over a period of time. As it is, nobody cares about them. Also will someone tell Sally to put that damn clipboard down that she carries in every scene in the factory.....(I think it was Ivy Tilsleys)and while we're at it, how many people are needed to run that factory. At this rate they'll be more in management than on the shop floor. Confused

AnguaResurgam · 05/01/2016 17:51

"They could charter a plane to take a load of them to Peru, then there could be a tragic accident over the Andes."

There was a real crash, which was the inspiration for the film "Alive". (I suppose it would be tasteless to try to work out what order the cast should be eaten in).

AnneEyhtMeyer · 05/01/2016 17:56

Alive was my inspiration, Angua! Grin

AnguaResurgam · 05/01/2016 19:30

I thought it probably was!

southeastdweller · 05/01/2016 20:55

The scenes at the Rovers with the Connor's should have made compulsive viewing but like everyone else I just can't care about them.

I noticed last night how nice the eyes were of the nice Vicar. What the hell is he doing with that annoying twerp Sean?!

ellenanora5 · 05/01/2016 21:20

I hated those scenes with the Connors last night, a five year old could have written them better, and so typical of Liz to burst in and drop the news about their mother, i mean who the fuck walks in on a private conversation and just blurts out something else, and why in the pub, go to one of their flats, aaaarrrggghhh its so annoying.

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 21:29

Yes they introduced the Connors too soon before the storyline. The viewers don't care about them enough yet. They're only second cousins anyway. It could have been interesting if he was her ex father in law or something. So dull.

Clawdy · 05/01/2016 21:43

I'm liking the Connors father now, he's a good actor too. Not missing Steve. How about bringing Andy back?
