Corrie thread - we haven't even got a dog storyline to keep us going now

A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

When did the brewery close and become a convenient empty garage?

Make yourself at home and get ready for more totally hopeless acting - it has to improve soon, surely?

You are very welcome ellenanora Smile.

I think that is a brilliant idea, to just cut some stories completely, and I agree with all the ones you mentioned. Just pretend Callum got washed out to sea, and started a new life elsewhere, far far away, send Simon back to Peter, and so on.

southeastdweller · 15/11/2015 10:59

I think I could tolerate Simon if it means Peter returns.

Rachel0Greep · 15/11/2015 16:41

Good point, southeast, Grin.

yellowbird11 · 16/11/2015 00:16

What is Sophie's role going to be at the garage? They're lucky if they get one customer a day. What on earth will she do all day. That 21% stuff off Kevin was pathetic.

hildasmuriel · 16/11/2015 09:45

Sophie left school with few qualifications I seem to remember and has spent the last few years working in Dev's shop. Now I suspect she will suddenly become the new Alan Sugar with seemingly no transition.

It would have been good to see some character development with her learning off other business people in the Street, Dev, Kevin, Carla but storylines are always so rushed.

ajandjjmum · 16/11/2015 10:41

That's where the writing is so poor - it's not like she's always loved cars and had a Saturday job helping in the office or something. This should have built up over years - instead of which she suddenly has acquired the knowledge to build a business over a couple of weeks.

I was thinking of offering her a job here! Obviously takes things on board VERY quickly! Grin

eddiemairswife · 16/11/2015 10:57

Sophie did start at 6th Form College but gave up her course (I can't remember why). I can't understand why she has been so unambitious for the last few years.

EachandEveryone · 16/11/2015 11:42

Why does Kim Tate want to work in the corner shop? I don't understand what's pulling her there.

Rachel0Greep · 16/11/2015 12:03

Sophie will probably just sit with her head drooping, it seemed to be pretty much all she did in the shop anyway.

WotNoLoobrush · 16/11/2015 13:02

I may have missed something but am I right in thinking that Erica has replaced Sophie at the shop? It's just that I don't remember Sophie leaving.

AnguaResurgam · 16/11/2015 13:20

Kev gave Sophie 21% of the garage as her 21st birthday present. At which point she resigned from Dev's shop.

Now, should Rosie reappear and demand that siblings are treated equally?

yellowbird11 · 16/11/2015 13:22

Yes she handed her notice into Dev because she's going on to better things. Grin

SymphonyofShadows · 16/11/2015 14:01

Yes, why hasn't Erica just gone back to Spain? Liz is her only link to the street anyway. Spain or Dev's? Hard choice Grin

CoolSummer · 16/11/2015 15:26

How are they going to get Rob out of prison? A technicality? Hmm

WotNoLoobrush · 16/11/2015 19:31

Thanks for replies re. Sophie.

Good point about Erica, SymphonyGrin

ellenanora5 · 16/11/2015 21:01

Coolsummer, is Rob coming back into it.

I know where I would be if I was Erica

theliverpoolone · 16/11/2015 23:24

So who's running Streetcars now? No Lloyd, no Steve.......

AnguaResurgam · 16/11/2015 23:30

Good question! Presumably Eileen and the unseen Fat Brenda.

Rachel0Greep · 17/11/2015 11:27

Good question indeed! Maybe Michelle goes in, and folds her arms every so often, and that helps in the running of it Grin.

I doubt that Tony would be so easily fooled, as to hand over the share of the pub, just like that. Silly stuff, just a lazy storyline, presumably to write him out.

SymphonyofShadows · 17/11/2015 12:16

Michelle is being too nice to 'Steve' on the phone, she is normally in a huff

lizzydrippingsghost · 17/11/2015 13:38

does carla still own half of the pub, its never mentioned

Rachel0Greep · 17/11/2015 13:47

No. Apparently not.
I saw it explained somewhere. Tony bought Steve's half, under false pretences. Carla was about to buy the other half, thus preventing Tony from getting the other half, but meanwhile Tony got found out, so Liz didn't sell her half, in the end.

(I thought Carla did own half, but I will be honest and say I only half watch a lot of the time).

lizzydrippingsghost · 17/11/2015 14:19

oh ok thanks. its abit like alyas non pregnancy wasnt very clear wheather she was or wasnt

Rachel0Greep · 17/11/2015 15:02

True.

I've seen it argued back and forth, I think it was on Digital Spy. I remember when Tony finally turned up, after that long, long drive to the airport with Steve and Michelle Grin, I thought Liz had no right to order him out of the pub, because I thought she no longer had a share in it.

It's possibly just yet another sl they haven't made up their minds on.

AnguaResurgam · 17/11/2015 18:24

It's her pub in the sense that she remained the licencee/manager throughout (Steve was barred because of his criminal record).
