Corrie thread - we haven't even got a dog storyline to keep us going now

A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

When did the brewery close and become a convenient empty garage?

Make yourself at home and get ready for more totally hopeless acting - it has to improve soon, surely?

They probably had a change of heart about that storyline when they read what people thought.

Wotshisface is determined to ruin it before he goes, isn't he?

southeastdweller · 27/11/2015 15:22

I can fully believe that they were stupid enough to initially contemplate running with this storyline.

ellenanora5 · 27/11/2015 19:02

Who were they going to bring back, could it really have been any worse than it is at the moment.

It is dire.

justignorethecats · 27/11/2015 19:49

The car racing/internet images story is awful.

It reminds me of the sort of plays we put on in Year 10 Drama Grin

HirplesWithHaggis · 27/11/2015 20:56

Yaaaay Steph! :D

southeastdweller · 27/11/2015 21:00

How ridiculous that Steph would have a go at a group of random blokes she and Jamie don't know. What crap writing.

eddiemairswife · 27/11/2015 22:27

I'm concerned that the Bistro has such unreliable and volatile staff. It seemed to busier than I've ever seen it when Steph flounces off, because she thinks some men are laughing at the on-line pictures, then Andy goes after her leaving some unknown (Mel?) to cope. Then sometime in the afternoon a group desert their jobs to track down Jamie, and lo and behold the police turn up and arrest him.

Woodhill · 27/11/2015 22:51

Cringing at Mary with Brendan.

Tyrone is being awful.

eddiemairswife · 28/11/2015 12:18

I don't know anything about TV production, but I would have thought that someone would sit down and view each programme before it went out. In the latest episode Leanne arrived at the Bistro, apologised to the customers for keeping them waiting, asked Robert where Steph was, then went into the kitchen and had a long heart to heart with Steph.....customers apparently forgotten. No other serving staff in evidence.

Rachel0Greep · 28/11/2015 12:50

Robert went out front, I think. He said something like I will look after things out here.

SymphonyofShadows · 28/11/2015 17:20

It might just be me but was Eva a little odd in last night's?

WotNoLoobrush · 28/11/2015 18:09

I've noticed Eva's been giggling a lot lately.

eddiemairswife · 28/11/2015 18:41

She needs a boyfriend.....Gary? .....Aidan?

WotNoLoobrush · 28/11/2015 20:07

Probably Aidan. Jason's not looking likely now.

eddiemairswife · 28/11/2015 20:42

Are both Fiz and Tyrone not at work? What do they do with themselves? No wonder they are short of money. It would make sense if they each went in part-time. And I'm sure Hope could have the odd morning at school.

WotNoLoobrush · 28/11/2015 21:17

Not sure about F&T's work arrangements and yes to Hope going to school PT. Seems so unlike Ty not to confide in Roy.

Akire · 29/11/2015 00:35

Soaps always have odd money sets up. You have people who own multiply business don't have fairly different lifestyle from their workers.

Tyrone has decent job fizz gave up while hope sick but don't they own their house? Wasn't it left to them. So hard working all hours over time your broke and has is co worker as lodger so should make up the difference in fizz wages but still broke.

Next door you have four adults working full time yet always broke. Why why why!

Same with Elieen world full time he whatever current partner works full time. Plus her two boys plus lodger but no one had any money!

SymphonyofShadows · 29/11/2015 08:07

Didn't Tyrone get any compensation after being wrongfully imprisoned and charged with a crime he didn't commit, or didn't Fizz for that matter? She was accused of murder and had Hope taken away from her in prison!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 29/11/2015 08:20

I haven't watched more than the odd episode for weeks and I'm not missing it. Which considering I have been a loyal viewer since around the time Tracey was born makes me feel kind of sad. But I just CBA now. There have been other times when it's been a bit crap for a while, but never as bad and for as long as this and usually there have been good plotlines in amongst the bad ones. At the moment there's not a single story I care about.

hildasmuriel · 29/11/2015 10:42

I agree that the new producer needs to get rid of deadwood but I don't think that necessarily characters but rather writers and those who generate storylines.

I also agree with draw a line under the rubbish storylines, with regard to Callum, there is no real reason why he could not literally lie under there for good is there?

I just thought Hallelujah when they told the police about the Steph thing. Why didn't Luke do that 3 weeks ago?

soulsurfer · 29/11/2015 10:42

Umm afraid to say - the awful character IS coming back - far from denying it, Corrie have said when the character will be back on screen and who they will make life difficult for!

DeepBlueLake · 29/11/2015 10:59

I actually would quite like Leanne and Robert to get together.

I see Sarah is coming back next week zzz. Sick to death of the Platts and their never ending family dramas.

And I thought Tracy was 'turning over a new leaf' after Deirdre died?!

southeastdweller · 29/11/2015 11:16

soul there's two stories we've been talking about - the one with the returning character and the other about a Muslim extremism (which is the one that's been officially denied).

eddiemairswife · 29/11/2015 11:20

I had completely forgotten that Luke was lodging with Ty and Fiz until he made a couple of appearances this week, and I think the scriptwriters had too. He doesn't appear to eat there or use the facilities, even though I would think he'd want a shower after a day's work in the garage.

Rachel0Greep · 29/11/2015 11:45

I had forgotten about him lodging too. I can't see why they would be so broke either. Presumably they have no mortgage, and no money is ever spent on that house, it looks awful. Fiz could surely do part time hours, given that she lives so near the factory. Does she just stay at home practising tha awful voice she puts on, any time that she speaks to Hope, and also to Roy. Hmm

That's another thing, they have no commuting to do, so no cost there either. Luke must pay them something, for staying with them.
I was glad to see the police, and hopefully the end of that story.

Why did the Platts not do that in the early stages of the ridiculous Callum storyline, long before he ended up under Gail's bedroom. They should just pretend the body somehow got washed away, and forget about it, but, no, as we know, there is another ridiculous way of dragging it on next week, when, as mentioned upthread, Sarah's pregnancy comes to light. YAWN.
