Corrie thread - we haven't even got a dog storyline to keep us going now

A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

When did the brewery close and become a convenient empty garage?

Make yourself at home and get ready for more totally hopeless acting - it has to improve soon, surely?

I bet Gary does a Sophie and is an instant success as a businessman.

desperatehousewife21 · 26/11/2015 12:10

Hmm interesting about the returning actor.

ProfYaffle · 26/11/2015 15:41

Interesting about the returning character, there were a lot of annoying loose ends in that storyline though I doubt they'll be tied up properly knowing Corrie these days.

southeastdweller · 26/11/2015 19:50

Extra episode tonight at 8.

WotNoLoobrush · 26/11/2015 20:29

Rats! Missed 1st half (so annoying when they do that). I take it Andy now knows about Steph?

bessiebumptious2 · 26/11/2015 21:03

It's too boring for words now. I find it hard to believe that Tracy Barlow doesn't get slapped every time she opens her mouth and her character is almost comical because no-one in real life would tolerate her antics. They all just say "oh Tracy " and no-one gives her a clip round the earhole or kicks her out of the house, entitled cow.

And are the characters in the 'porn revenge' so dense and out of touch that they haven't once wondered whether that kind of blackmail is illegal?

Gary and Alya - b o r i n g.

The new Connors - b o r i n g
The gym story line - b o r i n g

Why hasn't Peter turned up to sort his son out? Again, a story line full of questions that are too b o r i n g for anyone to bother asking.

Absolute rubbish and I'm switching off. Did I mention it's boring?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/11/2015 22:08

I fast forwarded all through the Fizz and the woman who works in the Bistro bits. It only took me 15 minutes to watch it, and I wish I'd fast forwarded through the Gary bits too. It is virtually unwatchable at the moment.

We weren't seriously supposed to believe that Hope wrote that list were we?!

Rachel0Greep · 26/11/2015 23:28

bessiebumptious, if I could thank your post, I would. Grin. I agree totally.

Didn't see tonight, and couldn't care less about missing it.

bessiebumptious2 · 27/11/2015 00:38

Rachel0Greep I'll take that as a thank you!! Grin

I just wish that the script writers would take a look on here for clues. They must be ... dull.

Pyjamaramadrama · 27/11/2015 08:04

The actors who play Gary and Tracey must cringe every time they see they're scripts.

Gary last night "if I wanted Eva I'd have her", omg cringe Blush

The illegal car racing cringe.

I fast forward through Fiz.

Wishful80smontage · 27/11/2015 08:13

I won't bother watching last night's sounds complete dire.
They literally could not make it any worse at the minute god its crap am literally counting down until the emmerdale boss takes over- but how long it will take her to unpick this mess god only knows- nothing short of a mass cull, some very creative storylines to plug up some major plot holes and a very forgiving and forgetful audience will so.
I'm still very intrigued how they will get through the grimness of Callum's body being buried there resolved with the platt's intact? I utterly hate everything about that storyline god knows what they were all thinking?!

hildasmuriel · 27/11/2015 09:03

The thing about the Leanne Simon story is an example of how, what could be, a great storyline, is rushed and is increasingly looking like a cheap way to have a Leanne, Tracey,Robert love triangle and, of course, neither Leanne nor Tracey have ever had love triangle storylines...

Simon has had so many traumatic event in his life it is not inconceivable he would lash out (although that applies to almost every other street resident). If I was Tracey I would be angry that Leanne allowed a child with anger issues to stay with me, my daughter and pensioner Dad with no warning. However, that righteous anger starts to look less righteous when we remember Tracey killed Simon's stepdad.

The show is so keen on dramatic storylines that it is tying itself in knots and has opted to just leap from storyline to storyline forgetting anything which has gone before it and ignoring how the characters would think.

The Gary thing. Yes, I'm sure he'd be angry that Aliyah slept with Jason, but everyone seems to forget they were seperated at the time ad she was in a mess as her Dad died. Given Gay's record on fidelity he might have a bit more insight and, rather than charging into the gym, might be at least trying to work it out with Aliyah.

It's all very unimaginative and a lack of insight into people, characters and how their minds work.

Pyjamaramadrama · 27/11/2015 10:17

Is anyone watching The Wright Stuff about a possible upcoming storyline?

Wishful80smontage · 27/11/2015 10:20

Have I missed it drama or is it coming up?

Wishful80smontage · 27/11/2015 10:21

Yy Hilda its what suits the storyline ATM rather than what the character would actually do, very frustrating as a viewer.

Pyjamaramadrama · 27/11/2015 10:28

They were talking about it about 30 minutes ago on the Wright stuff.

I think it's been in The Sun newspaper.

Wishful80smontage · 27/11/2015 10:33

Could you pm me please drama what it is if you don't mind :)

Pyjamaramadrama · 27/11/2015 11:05

I've messaged you a link does anyone know if you can pm on the app?

Rachel0Greep · 27/11/2015 11:31

Agreed. Someone suggested upthread the best thing they could do with some of the rubbish storylines is to draw a line under them, rather than trying to do anything else. I know they can't but it would be a mercy to the viewers at this stage.

One of the (many) problems, in my opinion, is that they try to tackle several issues, and handle them badly, then either drag them to the hilt, or drop them suddenly. I was sick to the back teeth of the never ending Callum rubbish. And it will drag on forever, even though he is dead.

On the other hand then, there was Faye's baby, suddenly gone, and it's like she never existed. There was potential there, for some nice stories, I loved when Grandad Tim had her, for example.

I find Alya and Gary so boring, I couldn't care less whether they are together or apart. Yes, of course she shouldn't have slept with Jason, but nobody seems to consider that she was grieving, and mixed up. She didn't kill anyone, which you would swear she did, the way she is being treated like a pariah. I don't even like her, but I feel sorry for her.

And finally, the racing storyline, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

southeastdweller · 27/11/2015 14:22

The Corrie bosses have strongly denied the rumoured storyline.

Pyjamaramadrama · 27/11/2015 14:22

I think it would be a disaster.

Wishful80smontage · 27/11/2015 14:32

Thanks for sending drama I retract 'it literally couldn't get any worse' as apparently it could- that storyline needs not to happen. We thought the Callum one was bad....

southeastdweller · 27/11/2015 14:47

She's go her work cut out, that's for sure. The first thing I'd do if I were her would be to cull the deadwood which I estimate would save more than £800k - the savings of which could be used to hire decent writers.

Changeitup · 27/11/2015 14:54

I think we'd do a much better job ATM Dweller I'd do it for free if I could write certain characters straight out :)
