Yet another crime drama heading to our screens. I'm watching heaps of shows like this at the moment. Anyone else planning to watch?

I won't be watching live but will try to get on catch up ASAP. Looks intriguing.

I think its her family too could be her mother/brothers car that is why her Dna was in it and her mother was cleaning the house last week maybe looking for something,

quirkychick · 21/10/2015 22:23

OK, have rewatched. MrsJayy I agree, the comments her mum and brother made at the front door are really suspicious.

I have just seen the trailer

MrsJayy · 21/10/2015 22:28

So River has something i dont think he is intentionally not saying i think its been blocked from his memory he obviously loved stevie. Her mum was really sinister towards tia outside the pub through her aww love there there she was being nasty.

fuzzpig · 22/10/2015 13:51

I just watched episode 2. It made me really sad - the bit where Stevie asked him to describe her and he talked about her cheeks when she laughed... :( :( as my teenaged DSD would say, 'it got me right in the Feels' :o

Added to that, a huge hit of empathy from me when they were talking about how you have to fit in, be normal... yeah, I struggle with that big time. He's really got the 'on the outside looking in' thing going on. And Nicola Walker, she is just fab.

I'm really enjoying this - I'm not really thinking of it as a crime drama, as I think it's secondary to River's personal struggle (though I can't deny I'm intrigued as to whodunnit).

It's a sad and lonely place grief and he is an absorbing and lovable character. I too felt moved when he described her cheeks when she smiles and the pressure to say normal things to people.

AnonymousBird · 22/10/2015 22:50

Oh my god it is bloody brilliant.

Lottapianos · 23/10/2015 14:16

I just watched episode one last night and absolutely loved it. I've been grieving myself for the past couple of years and found SS's performance heartbreaking. I was in very unexpected floods of tears by the end. The blankness, the numbness, the intense loneliness, the shock, the anger starting to kick in, the feeling of unreality, starting to get scared by your own feelings - all there. He's just so incredibly sad and broken. Brilliant stuff.

Fascinated to find out the extent of his relationship with Stevie. She seems to interact with him like he's a colleague she's fond of, nothing more, but he seems absolutely destroyed by her death. Looking forward to episode 2

I thought the young actor who played the boyfriend of the girl who appeared to River was absolutely brilliant. He looked destroyed too, and was crying those tears that are so heavy they drop straight out of your eyes, rather than rolling down your cheeks Sad

AnonymousBird · 23/10/2015 18:45

Lotta - it gets better so you are in for a real treat! And yes, his portrayal is sublime, utterly bereft and convincing.

sadwidow28 · 23/10/2015 23:09

I have used up all my photo posts on the "Unforgotten" thread. I promise to upload photo clues when MNHQ gives me more space (24 hours)

Now, if you are puzzled about some dialogue exchanges, I have found a site that transcribes each episode of several TV series. "River" is on their list!

(I know! I thought I was over-invested in a couple of TV dramas, but this site takes the biscuit - in a good way!)

Bumperty bump for tonight at 9pm.

Now, we have had a clue under our eyes ..... and River saw it last week (Episode 2)

  1. Stevie turned in the middle of the road and smiled at 'Riley's car' apparently recognising the driver - but Riley didn't even own it until the day after
  2. She turned a full circle to look at the 'Riley car' (with the white van behind her)
  3. Stevie was shot in the back of her head.

So where did that shot actually come from?

Who was in 'Riley's car' that caused Stevie to smile at them?

This screen shot is the actually point of shooting - directly into the back of Stevie's head and her hair blows upwards

So putting together River's recollection of that night and information from the detective team:

River: We talk. She crosses the road, she stops halfway. She turns her head. There's a look of recognition.

DCI Chrissie Read: Too right, there was a look of recognition. She'd been in that car. You must have talked about something. (Episode 1 confirmed Stevie's DNA was on 'Riley's car' - but we now know it was INSIDE THE CAR)

River: We talked about nothing. We worked - and then we had lunch, and then, we worked some more. We went for a Chinese. (He appears to have no memory about what they discussed)

[Chrissie Read then introduces more information about Stevie's family background. (a) drug dealers who used to run half of East London (b) her family alibied for the night of the shooting (c) Stevie sent her own brother down - an ultimate betrayal.

River is going to the wake - so Read asks that he watches out for anything.

I don't know if it is significant so I will just record that Stevie's wake was held in 'Murphies' bar .]

------------

Jimmy (Stevie's brother is serving being the bar)

River: Hello, Jimmy.

Jimmy: So, you got him? What was he -- some smacked-out kid, looking to have a pop at a cop?
Why did it have to be my sister?
There was a time I could have put a gun to somebody's head and found him myself.
Now, I'm a reformed man.

River: You've been gone a long time.

Jimmy: Old sins cast long shadows.

River: Everyone deserves a second chance.

Jimmy: I decapitated a man, River.

River: I know.

Jimmy: Watch your back tonight.

I have posted a screencap of Jimmy with tattoo on right-hand side of his neck

(That's it - I have run out my 6 photos in 24 hours on Mumsnet!)

Is anyone here??????

sadwidow28 · 27/10/2015 21:34

If you can't get a TV aerial connection to BBC (I can't) then link into online: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbcone

AnonymousBird · 27/10/2015 21:37

Running late, watching it once children asleep - five minutes away!!!

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 27/10/2015 22:02

I was watching, but concentrating too much to post.

quirkychick · 27/10/2015 22:07

I only caught the last 15 mins as we've been out for the day. I will have to watch on catch up.

MrsJayy · 28/10/2015 09:10

Well nothing to do with her familiy. Does anybody think River did it ? I think he was stalking her knew she was meeting men for sex from that chatline and shot her

Fiderer · 28/10/2015 09:22

Stellan Skarsgard is brilliant in this.

MrsJayy Shock noooo. Aprt from the fact that he wouldn't, it would have been visible from the CCTV. Plus he obviously is just now realising that he didn't know her as well as he thought, that he hadn't "seen" what was going on.

If it does turn out that he's now in a denial state of something to suppress it I shall be v pissed off.

MrsJayy · 28/10/2015 09:28

was just a thought i dont want it to be him . You are right he does seem to have no clue who she was. Ths mostache man is terrifying i jumped when he appeared

sadwidow28 · 28/10/2015 09:34

Hmmm - a really great episode.

So Jordie Merton was accidentally killed by his boyfriend/lover Sasha Mischenko (Alec Utgoff).

Rosa Fallows (the psychiatrist) went to the Globe Theatre with Marcus McDonald (Owen Teale) who runs Chrissie Read's police team. Well, given that River and McDonald dislike each other (McDonald was hoping to get River out of the police force with a negative psychiatric report) this looks like an ultimate betrayal.

Stevie gave River £10,000 the night she died - to take care of Frankie (her brother) if anything happened to her. Did she know she was going to die?

In the CCTV footage from around Crystal Kebabs, River and Ira spot the same blue Mondeo (PN51 RRT) parked up. Then Stevie gets out of the passenger side, walks round the back as the driver alights (a black man) and there is an intimate moment as Stevie touches the man's face. (Shock and horror on River's face! Brilliant!) So is this mystery man Stevie's killer?

River had no idea that Stevie was seeing anyone. Nor did he know that she used a sex chat line (user name: Pussycat5). Stevie is becoming rather mysterious isn't she?

I like that stevie is a bit of a mystery her story chat lines, secret boyfriend, and dodgy dealings are usually men storylines in things and its the women who feel betrayed and duped. In this its River its all you think you know someone

sadwidow28 · 28/10/2015 09:49

I think we are going to be thrown more secrets about Stevie. We still don't know why she did so much over-time (and booked out police vehicles after hours).... and more importantly, neither does River.

Fiderer · 28/10/2015 09:52

I like his sidekick, Adeel Akhtar. Think he plays it just right.

MrsJayy · 28/10/2015 10:03

Yeah he is great i like him.

emotionsecho · 28/10/2015 10:08

I'm watching and enjoying this, the quality of the actors and acting makes it compelling rather than unbelievable.

After last night's episode I'm guessing the vision of the Lambeth Poisoner is a 'permanent' vision that River sees and reflects the 'bad' side of River and is therefore a part of him? I'm not explaining that very well, sorry, but it was what that vision said to him, River would never have met that person in real life, and I'm guessing that vision played in a part in the breakdowns River had which Stevie helped him with and were alluded to by Stevie's mother.

It's an intriguing series with a number of layers.
